At the end you see him as he truly is, The Hand of Fate holding that pocket watch... Tales and stories have tried to portray what LVC showed in his face each time he looked down at his Remington revolver, the frustration, the pure unfairness of the situation; in a fair duel, LVC would surely win and the evil Indio knew that. When Clint appeared, tables turned--- Indio knew who LVC was and he certainly knew what Clint was--- The Hand of Fate interceding.
