  • A Great Cover. :)

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz got bored and sleepy ..it always happens when I listen to this corinne bailey...

  • so good omg

  • I loooove it

  • Se nunca ouviu, ouça agora!!!

  • Its beautiful like the orignal:)

  • I played with my guitar for a while and figured out the chords: Bm and Am.

Then switch to Bm7 and C on the chorus!! Happy tuning!!!

  • I personally prefer Bjork's version but fair play Corinne - this is a great cover!

  • Both Bjork and Corinne are great!

  • Yummy groove

  • THIS IS A COVER THIS IS A COVER THIS IS A COVER. lol Okay had to clear that up. This cover is fucking great.

  • I love it! Her voice is like silk.

  • The beauty of this song is how well it gets the message across and how it becomes personalized by who is singing it. I mean, Madonna's tone of wanting/admiration is very different from, say, Danzig =P

  • Doesn't do it for me sorry, her voice sounds too innocent and childlike, unlike Björk's ethereal accent and the backing track is completely off. Regret clicking on this now.

  • CBR has great taste. Such a classy and unique lady.

  • i prefer björk but this is a beautiful version as well

  • i love this version along with Bjork's, both equally amazing

  • this is flawless

  • Love it!

    I love Bjork's original, too.

They both put their all into it, and both made it work for them.

Originality at its best for both of these women. Wow!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • dreamy cover, love both

  • just open your heart, I really like bjork and corinne too, they are full of love and they express it on their own way.

  • Beautiful. very beautiful.

  • where is it avaiable?

  • Only she could do such a good cover of this song:)

  • Bjork is one of her idols, I find this cover very sweet and its more of a tribute to Bjork.

  • urghh...not tasteful. Corraine is stupid and silly.

  • @closetome haters a gonna hate

  • @richboyk Yes, yes we are...

  • Got to love Corrine. Anything she touches is beautiful and this version of 'Venus as a Boy' does not disappoint.

  • Actually I've never heard of her before, and if it hadn't been for Bjork, Im sure I still wouldn't have. :)

  • This is beautiful, still like Bjork's better.

  • this is beautiful

  • beautiful.. I am big fan of Bjork, but it's really nice work.

  • beautiful.. I am big fan of Bjork, but it's really nice work.

  • If Bjork went into a coma and came out thinking she was Macy Gray...it's not always great when someone tries to take someone elses songs and butcher it like a cow waiting for the slaughter.

  • @LadyLotus74

Come on, comparing it to Macy Gray is going to far. As is claiming the song is "butchered"! I mean, this isn't an interesting version, in truth is quite dull compared to the original, but I've heard many worse.

  • @FungusMossGnosis You are so right! Everything is worth looking at differently at some point or another. Chances are I was horribly drunk when I wrote this comment, because I totally do NOT even remember writing it. So, who knows? Maybe I went too far. Thank you for putting me in check. :)

  • @LadyLotus74

All I can say is, you only went a *little* too far, drunk or not! If the first 1.5 minutes of this version sounded as weak as the last 1.5 min., I wouldn't have even mentioned it. I was charmed a bit by Rae at first. Now it feels like she's not doing much interesting work anymore.

  • Sorry Bjork fans, but this version is better! I do appreciate Bjork making this song though--Corinne's version never would have been made had it not been for that. This version is way too dreamy for its own good.

  • @gameboy11 its better to u ;) .. both are great ..

  • It's alright!

  • This is so smooth, it is stunningly sexy, and severely sensuous!

  • Her voice is wonderful .....

  • i like

  • Lovely.

  • @cecillbill I think you're so right about that, she isn't Björk doing her masterpiece, but it's a beautiful cover anyway.

  • LEON !

  • @TheMadLoop That is a beautiful movie!!

  • it's not easy have two perfect versions of the same song. But now I believe that is possible.

  • i think i just died of greatness overload.

    this is the sex.

  • hooollly shiiiittttttttttt bjork cover coool

  • Her voice gives me chills, just like Bjorks........they both can sing me to sleep any time!

  • was this ever released onto cd? I cant seem to find it

  • @actiondy This was released on a Special Edition of the CD. I believe it was on a 2 disc set.

  • bjork is better! thumbs up hurry!

  • such a sexy and sensual song. lovely

  • An idol audition song maybe?

  • her voice is amazing in this, this version definently better than bjorks original venus as a boy track, but the glastonbury version and this are both amazing. she shud have made it longer though

  • her voice is amazing in this, this version definently better than bjorks original venus as a boy track, but the glastonbury version and this are both amazing

  • i actually like both version. as a bjork and corinne fan, i always appreciate my favourite artists covering my favourite artist's songs. i think it just makes me compliment them more. bjork is quirky and corinne has its subtlety, complete opposite but that's what makes it very beautiful.

  • i like Corinne's version better, but I must respect Bjork because she wrote it. Just listening to the words... Amazing. Bjork is a talented writer and singer. I must give props where props are due and they are due to Bjork first and then Corinne.

  • I love Björk's version but this is just as beautiful.

  • People get very precious about songs and people doing covers. Don't forget this has always happened in music, Beatles, Stones, Hendrix have all done covers at the start of their musical careers. As long as your still writing your own stuff too does it really matter? Corinne is talented writer and performer, she obviously loves this song and wanted to do her own interpretation. 'jckctin', things aint that bad!!

  • bjork is better

  • I'm not going to put her down by saying she's not as a good as Bjork. This is a nice cover, and while Bjork cannot be paralleled, neither can CBR. Not everyone can sing, now, but those who can should not be compared to others, only contrasted.

  • I LOVE Bjork but I appreciate the attempt to Corinne. It's very nice!

  • Its so Relaxing

  • decent cover.

  • The new generation will never be known for original ideas, songs, thoughts, edge ...should I go on? Sure this gal is a good singer ...but why not use that talent and make your own work? Novelle is crap also. Mash up songs; hell, mash up novels as well? It's both wonderful and sad that my generation is the last to witness anything fresh, new and exciting. The youth today - either lazy or being robbed by those in charge. In any case - planet earth is boring place today when you turn on the dial.

  • cmon, I love bjork... but corinne is by FAR a better singer!

bjork is more of an artist, and I LOVE her work. it's two different things for me.

  • @2milho I think, as you say, it's two different things, but I think Bjork is a much better singer than Corinne. Not obvious on Venus as a boy, but she is. Corinne's voice is lovely though :)

  • I think no ones singing version or adaption to date isn't even close to being as beautiful as Bjorks...her song is truly a thing of great beauty. Even a fool knows Bjork has written a masterpiece. And her singing of Venus as a boy is unequaled.

  • I liked Corinnes vocals and music until her voice and music took an all too familiar dip on the note at 1:15. The rest of the song, I just sort of coasted the rest of the way.

  • This version soothes me and Bjork's version makes me happy and giddish lol

  • simply lovely, i love how a song can be adapted

  • I think Bjork would fight Corinne Bailey if she heard this.

  • @k7twenty2 why'd you think that? that's absurd, this version is lovely

  • @2milho Lol because if Bjork attacked that reporter. But yeah, this is a good version

  • god...boringggggggg...zzzzzzz... yea she gud singer but this song bored me wen she singn it... i luv bjorks version... sorrryyyy

  • BJORK DOES THIS SONG BETTER but good try corinne

  • Excelente adaptación...no deja de sentirse a Bjork y no deja de ser Corinne ;-)

  • yeah seriously, bjork is amazing, but this cover is right up there with the original

  • i agree cecibill...only bjork, but theres only one corinne too, both unique

  • so smooth, pretty an altogether makin' me feel better! ^^

  • Wow, what a good version. Björk fan here too.

  • I love this

    - Bjork fan

  • wow this actually sounds really pretty...i'm a huge Bjork fan, but i really like it!

  • i prefer björk but this is a beautiful version as well

  • @mynameisveris I feel like Bjorks version is more expressive. I guess because she's more connected to the song since she writes the majority, if not, all her own material.

  • @redhotsuperskunk It's ok but Bjork OWNS this song!!! (Literally...LOL)

  • Who composed this song?? Björk sings it too ^^

  • Bjork wrote it. Corinne Bailey Rae covered it.

  • I tought that ^^

now, in an advertisment, in spain, it sais: "he believes in the beauty" with a song but not singed by Björk or Corinne bailey =D

  • and wut about venus as a girls by andy mckee? it has almost the same rythm =S

  • It's a guitar cover...so they also share the same general melody. Andy Mckee performs covers and original compositions.

  • =) thnx!!!

  • Thank You For Putting This Song Up, Its Absolutely lovely.

  • The best covers are the ones where the artist makes it their own, as in this case. Beautifully done.

    Thanks for the upload, patbarn!

    5IVE Stars!

  • This song always makes me think of my boyfriend, especially this version. I really like this.

  • A RnB artist making a soul cover of Björk?

Alright, I think it's now irrefutably proven that Björk is one of the most influential and talented true artists of our times, one of the top 10 names to remember in recent music.

  • @alrune8 Nah, Björk isn't everybody's cup of tea. You're just biased. Labels like being so talented and influential are overrated. You could say that about millions of musicians depending on your taste. If a certain song can make you happy, good, that's what it all boils down to at the end of the day.

  • @russianfantastico If you say so, it must be true.

  • Thanks so much for upload this song covered by Corinne.Thank so much:)

  • ahhh shivers on chorus

  • im appreciating this although the original is much better

  • Great version!

  • This is very pretty... I don't normally listen to real soulful music, but this cover is so beautiful that I might just have to start digging for more good tunes like this... I like them both, of course maybe Bjork's more because it's artful and spunky, but this version is really giving it a good reputation. I normally don't like covers, either, but Corrine's I really enjoyed..

  • i love this version. . .she's not supposed to do it exactly like bjork and of course bjork's version is better because its HER song. but the song sound awesome with the neosoul r&b vibe.

  • Yeah! I've heard 4 versions of this song and each one seems personal to the person and fitting their vibe. 2 from Bjork (the original and the "dream mix" version), this one, and the one from Zoey

  • amo esta version, esta genial muy sensual me pone la piel de gallina...

  • imo just take it as it is, a tribute, if u don't like it just don't watch it

  • i think i would have preferred the vocals to have a lazier feel. then it would have been extra special.

the song fits the style surprisingly well.

  • Bjork is WAY BETTER

  • She's no Bjork, duh. She puts her own sound to Bjork's beautiful words and melodies. It's a great cover if you love Corrine Baily Rae. If you love Bjork , then you realize that it doesn't have the feel of Bjork doing her own masterpiece, but a tribute to the beauty of the song from a person who can sing, Corrine, and who did a cool spin on it to give it a lovely R&B feel.

  • @cecillbill i second those words of wisdom i just dont see the colors from this rendition as from Bjork.....

the original encompasses my soul and body so simple but perfect.

  • @lilducky85

I agree with you too! Excellent way to say how the music touches your soul.

Corrine's version is too breezy but still soulful whereas Bjork's original is a masterful exploration of raw and true emotions. :)

  • @cecillbill I thought Artists are suppose to sound like themselves...so says Artist Development. : )

  • @georgianmilan1

You're right. I like this version, it's different as it should be. But, yeah, I'm going to love the original no matter what because Bjork's music seeps into my soul, lol.

  • I liked the first 49 seconds. After that, I stopped listening.

An acoustic version would be good. Bjork's versions is too good.

  • I hate it. Bjork is too much better.

  • I wasn't even aware this existed!

  • oooooooooooh ive always love bjork and alot of corinne bailey rae this is awesome :D

  • I am a fan of music period. Music is neither right nor wrong. It just is!!

If you don't like this version, who cares? She doesn't have the passion Bjork has??? Duhh, she's not Bjork.

    Quit being wankers.

  • "I am a fan of music period. Music is neither right nor wrong. It just is!!"

i love this comment :) too bad people insist on passing off their opinion as a fact!

  • I had no idea she did a cover of this song! This is pretty nice.

  • 00:47 sounds exactly like my ring tone

    lmaoooo

  • this is making me fall asleep. Where is the energy?

  • Energy does not always have to be so "exploding" as Björk's for instance.

This cover is another perspective of the song and I think it is really awesome! =)

  • Yes butterflydreams2008 I agree this version is Enchanting/surreal bjork would approve!

  • She did a good job. I don't usually say that about covers. But as a bias Bjork fan, I too prefer the original...just for its more whimsical touch.

  • she doesn't have the passion that Bjork has. This is easy listening, no goosebumps here...sorry kids

  • No problem dude, others have goosebumps.

  • I love this version, and the one by Bjork too.

This is a very sweet song.

  • raaqi, try not to be a nob mate eh.

  • nice job but too similiar to original what ethnicity has to do with it i hav no clue

  • Okkkkaaayyy Hold up raaqi what u chattin bout ???... i love a bit ov youtube beef ..how about ur names Khaalid an u live in australia loooool and corinne bailey Rays BLACK so why u wastin time commentin wiv dat response to a song buy bjork who is from iceland covered by a black CHICK called corinne bailey Ray!!!! ?? SAY WHAT EVER U WANT BUT.!!!!!.... NUFF SAID <------ say it properly looooool

  • This chick is self riteous deleting comments where she sees fit.

cant take other people's opinions... you will never make it... and you're black... enough said

  • To Sesshomarussecretlov.

Just because I prefer the original, which is usually the case with most covers, this does not mean I have my head up my arse. Youtube is not just for positive comments. My comment wasn't rude, it simply stated that I prefer the original. I don't see why you deleted my comment? As with ButterflyDreams2008, I am a dedicated Bjork fan and I prefer her version. Nothing wrong in that.

  • i prefer the original too and find this one really irritating!

  • This is really beautiful. I am a huge dedicated fan of bjork but I must have an affair and say this is almost better in a different way. Excellent!

  • Lovely song,Thanks for posting it as I had only heard Bjork's Venus as a Boy.

  • dude, if you dont like it dont comment just leave

BTW get your head out of your ass

    sabrinaEbanks

ps she did not ruin it

  • jep! beautiful cover

  • i have this version in mp3, if u want it just send me a message

  • GREAT cover! (: <3

  • does anyone know if this songs is available on i tunes with corrine singing it

  • wow this is actually beautiful! i'm in love with her and Bjork's version. :)

  • This is really a beautiful song! Wish they would play often in coffee shops in Manhattan! She is super talented!

  • wow, beautiful.

  • Really nice cover. Completely different take on the song. It's admirable that Rae doesn't try to replicate Bjork's unique vocals and trusts in her own, and it works.

I could easily just lay back and chill to this one just as much as the original but it has a more mellow feeling to it.

I still prefer Bjork's version though as it takes me way back.

  • Thanks for posting this, I'm always keen to hear other interpretations of Bjork, and this is really good! The main difference for me is the original makes me want to crawl into Bjork, whilst this makes me wish i was stoned ;)

  • Thanks for posting this tune on YT w Corrine singing the Bjork song yes I have to say Bjork would be proud!

  • question where can i buy this song is it available at itunes- i love both version of this song the bjork orginal what album is this taken from

  • Debut

  • complètement différent de l'original mais on ne perd pas une miette de beauté... superbe..

  • Something you can play in Starbucks as background music.yay.

  • is that meant as a compliment or are you being sarcastic

  • i would imagine that this would be played in a`coffee shop. it's very chill.

  • love it :)

  • Bjork would be proud! =]

  • thank you!

i was looking for this on youtube too :]

  • Best cover of björks song! Sung in her own style and everything. Well done.

  • Wow! It's one thing to try to cover Bjork

It's another thing to actually be able to do it!

    Luvit!

  • she's really something, but why is it that she's not that famous?

  • I was pleasantly surprised when I heard her sing this. It's not easy to successfully pull off Bjork. Very well done.

  • thank you for noticing

  • overall, a lovely cover of a Bjork classic.
