  • wow did u actually compare calvinists to gnostics.... I don't think I've come across a less scholarly claim. I want to know if you are an open theist first of all because unless you are you run into the same problem of God allowing things like rape to occur. If you are an open theist then it would seem that you then are the one believing in the heresy.

  • Yes, the ones who believed in the same concepts as TULIP teaches in the first 2 centuries of the Church were the gnostics. They were the heretics because they believed that God caused everything and that there was no such thing as free will. I am not an open theist YET. Can you prove that open theism is heresy? I have yet to read a good argument against it and I am reading lots of books against it. Maybe you can give me some information to the contrary?

  • Well unless you call Christ and Paul Heretics... Calvinists do not necessarily deny all free will but know that man will act in accordance to a will that is sinful as taught in John 8 and Romans 3. As a result of this they can not chose Christ and therefore the Father draws some and they will be raised up on the last day as taught in John 6. Open theism would seem to be a heresy due to its denying of the omniscience of God and would also seem to run into philosophical problems as well.

  • Christ and Paul didn't teach heresy. Heresy comes from a twisting and misinterpreting of their teachings. I don't believe in a "sinful nature" and the Greek texts teach nothing of the sort. The translators translate the Greek word sarx into the two words "sinful nature" instead of as "flesh." The flesh can tempt us but doesn't make us sin. Romans 3 simply teaches a universal rebellion of the human race, not a universal thing behind the person which makes someone sin.

  • not sure if you were quoting me on the sinful nature thing even though I didn't use it I guess the concept is there in scripture the question according to romans 3 can anyone ever be without sin. You seem to make the flesh on the Calvinist position some sort of being which it is not but a part of the self which is a human being. I don't know how it doesn't contradict His omniscience because there is information that He doesn't know and therefore it no longer "all knowing" but a some knowing.

  • Like I said, that is a straw man. The God of open theism knows EVERYTHING as well. The question then becomes, what is it that God knows. Or can the future be known? If the future is not in the realm of knowledge, then God is still all knowing if He doesn't know the future...

  • my friend listen to paul washer and get the right theology although i agree with alot of what u say but i was wandering why you didnt question the man when he said he lost his faith

  • Listen to Paul Washer? That's the problem with Calvinists...they are too busy listening to men instead of reading the Bible and listening to God. I didn't question him about his faith, because someone can "fall away", "depart from the faith" or be "cut off" as the Bible says...

  • As far as Open Theism is concerned, you just burned a big straw man. Open Theism does NOT deny the omniscience of God. I suggest that you read about Open Theism from the Open Theists and not from the Straw Man burning Calvinists who usually don't even know what they are talking about...

  • Also how can a being who is said to be a slave to sin and who does not seek God make a free will decision also who God knows what action they are going to make and they therefore have to make it.

  • Sinners are willful slaves to sin. Not all sinners don't seek after God, only most. According to Acts 17:26-27, God puts people where He puts them in hope that they would seek after God and grope for Him and find Him. I guess God knows something the Calvinist doesn't know. All the Scripture says is that EVERYONE at some point in time will sin. That doesn't mean that they have to sin or that they are born a sinner.

  • I would agree that they are willful sinners and can not act outside of that action to sin without God because they are slaves to sin John 8. When have Calvinists claimed to know the full mind of God... Question can a person ever not sin thus contradicting scripture that "no one does good."It seems that every person will sin or the scriptures would be false. Also we as Calvinists understand the two wills of God thus know that God may have given them chance to see Him they on their own cannot.

  • Sorry, the "Two Wills of God" are non-existent in Scripture. It is something made up by Calvinists in order to make their doctrines fit into Scripture. Every person who is to the age of accountability and has not repented of their sins and come to faith in Christ is in sin simply because they continue to break the 1st commandment, since they are not yet serving God. BUT, I hold that God has given EVERY man the ability to Repent. He is drawing ALL men near (John 12:32) and convicts the WORLD!

  • wait wait wait you deny the two wills of God and throw out the age of accountability?? Where is that in scripture. Notice this is? Christ speaking but it clearly speaks of a different drawing in John 6 in which it is clear only a few are drawn in a saving manner. I want proof that we it is "made up" it seems perfectly consistent.

  • I'm sorry but I'm happy He "forced me" to believe seeing that I was a slave to sin who was not able to do good and out of His grace He chose me to come to eternal life even though I do not deserve it.

  • Sorry, that's NOT what the Bible says. Check out this website for some GOOD theology:

    libraryoftheology . com

  • I have done a lot of study on the issue and the Bible clearly seems to. Based on John 6:44, chapter 8, and romans 3 ect

  • I strongly disagree. Go to the video page of the website and watch the videos of me preaching on TULIP

  • Ugg that's kind of a misrepresentation of the position of reformed theology.

  • i agree.
