  • The movies the books and the characters are just.... indescribable i have grown up with lord of the rings and its a part of me a very big thanks to tolkein and peter Jackson for shaping a little part of my life

  • Comment removed

  • This is why Sean Astin will never have to look for a job.

  • "VICTORRRRYYY we have VICTORYYYY!!!!"

  • ironic: very powerful moment with sean astin representing good with an oboe playing in the background....where hav i heard that before? haha

  • I think if everybody in the world watched this film, it'd be a better place here

  • Oh the tears...

  • God i wish they where gay

  • Gandalf at 2:34...beautiful smile

  • "Bye rights we SHOULDN'T even be here"

Your right it isn't in the book!!!!!

  • ALL the tears!

  • it even made gollum cry

  • I don't think that you can place Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or Star Wars in the same block. They all excel at their own genres. They may all be considered Science Fiction, but even that gets broken down into smaller parts. Lord of the Rings is the best, most inspirational medieval story that's ever been written. Harry Potter, a magical conflict of destiny in the modern world. And Star Wars, a nostalgic future that everyone loves but doesn't want to happen for real. They are all amazing.

  • @tawnyclawx And then, bleh. Star Trek is as stupid does.

  • @tawnyclawx I bet you haven't even watched one Star Trek film

  • @SuperHeroMania And what if I said I did? You can't prove me wrong or otherwise. I'm stating my opinion, you don't need to come in here and make insinuations.

  • @tawnyclawx I don't need to make insinuations to see that you absolutely have no clue what Star Trek really is by calling it stupid, whether you watched it or not

  • @SuperHeroMania I watched Star Trek, and I didn't enjoy it. Just because you like it doesn't mean that everyone else has to.

  • @tawnyclawx Did I say everybody else has to like it? You just seem to mention it out of nowhere in reply to someone who didn't say anything about Star Trek, some troll you are

  • @SuperHeroMania I didn't make it a response to anyone, but I was referencing what MrAbarca6 said, up there in the Top Comments.

  • "there's some good in this world... and it's worth fighting for" words that surely apply to everyone? without a doubt the most powerful words in a film I've ever heard

  • LARGER THAN LIFE

  • you know when gollum is crying that shit just got real

  • What's phenomenal about Tolkien's work and the movie adaptation is that there are many heroic characters in the trilogy. Frodo was the only one willing to destroy the ring above all others, that takes beyond major balls. He couldn't have done it alone though, Sam was just as big a hero, and saved Frodo's life on many occasions. I don't have enough room to explain the heroic roles of the others, but whether or not you like science fiction, this trilogy is very inspirational.

  • Its amazing to have a bond like that with someone, its much like me and my best friend. They are rare so you have to hold onto them,

  • Its touching to know that even some small part of Gollum wants to know the answer (sniff)

  • Te opowieści zapadały nam w pamięć, nawet jeśli byliśmy zbyt mali, by pojąć ich sens.

Ale wydaje mi się, że go pojmuje.

    Teraz wiem.

Bohaterowie tych opowieści, mogli zawrócić, ale nie chcieli.

    Szli naprzód. Ponieważ mieli wiarę.

    - A w co my wierzymy Samie ?

A jednak tu jesteśmy. Jak w bohaterskich opowieściach.... Tych naprawdę ważnych. Mrocznych i pełnych grozy. Baliśmy się poznać ich zakończenie. Bo czyż koniec może być szczęśliwy? Czy świat będzie taki jak dawniej? Choć, stało się tyle zła? Ale w końcu zły czas przemija... Usuwa się w cień. Nawet mrok przemija. Przyjdzie nowy dzień. A kiedy wzejdzie słońce…

    tym czystszym rozbłyśnie światłem.

    (tłumaczenie tekstu 1 część :D)

  • i cry

  • @everyboy100 me too, me too =(

  • @everyboy100 i did too! and i don't even know why i did. just when sam said, "there's good in the world.. and it's worth fighting for", i cried. LOTR - one of the best movies everr!

  • @aizchristeen your righ and about that sam cryed to i must cry with him

  • sam is the real hero

  • One of my favourite quotes, friendships like this are rarely found these days, a lot of love for this trilogy. 'There's some good left in this world Mr Frodo, and it's worth fighting for' and the music is beautiful too.

  • Too bad that Sean Astin went from doing an excellent performance as Sam to get kicked in the balls by Adam Sandler

  • @MrKarlozz lol, funny and disappointing

  • Best film ever

  • "it s me..it s your Sam.." lovely! :D Sam is my favorite hobbit.. !

  • Frodo carried the Ring, but Sam was the one who carried Frodo!

  • this is the scene were they regain hope and i love it so much

  • " those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something even if you were to young to understand!" That is the quote that has always stood out if my mind because that is how i feel about this story! I was4-6 when theses movies came out, i knew them by heart even thought i didnt quite understand! And its story's like this one that will stay with me forever!

  • this guy is the most underrated actor ever.

  • this scene is why the two towers won best picture at the oscars.

  • Unbelieveable... 10 years... I feel really old atm ^^

  • even Gollum's heart was touched ^_^

  • "Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were to young to understand why." That quote represents The Lord of the Rings in my childhood.

  • Sam should have won an Oscar for this.

  • I'd say the two dislikes were Gollum and Smeagol.

  • whenever i get depressed or super angry i just watch this video, really makes me appreciate jackson/tolkien

  • This is a story that really mattered. This was a story that stayed with me, that meant something, even though I was too small to understand why.

  • How could you cut out "Oh Sam!"?

  • 2 people are too small to understand why.

  • Comment removed

  • I think what hit me about this scene was how even Smeagal was taken by it. During the movies, I always hoped that they would destroy the ring and his "Gollum" side would disappear.

  • Like if you cryed a lil bit?

  • Sam is the true hero of the Lord of the Rings.

  • And this is why I consider Sam my favorite character. If not for him, Frodo would probably be bloodied in a ravine somewhere, or worse. =P

  • 'It's me, it's your Sam. Don't you know your Sam?' That bit gets me going :'(

  • god how does sam put up with frodo's shit

"wah ha ha i'm so sad i can't do this"

"fine i'll do it i don't need your moppy ass here anyway"

  • Everyone needs their sam... <3

  • gollum was moved by what he had said. its like for a second he began to really see what good would come if the ring were destroyed

  • 2 people were so teared up from this that they could not see well and thus accidentally pressed the dislike button.

  • Frodo =i cant do this sam ....

    Me =LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

  • Between Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Trek and Star Wars........

Lord of the rings is the best!

  • @MrAbarca6 Why would anyone even compare any of those...?

  • @MrAbarca6 Harry Potter does not even deserve to be mentioned in a video about Lord of the Rings xD

  • @HalfDecentVids I love you for saying this <3

  • @MrAbarca6 Easily!

  • @MrAbarca6 lol you cant compare any of those... star trek = old tv show, harry potter = youth books, star wars = hollywood space movie, lord of the rings = christian fantasy type book,

as far as the two trilogies, you can't really compare them because they are too different and their meaning socially and their impacts,

as far as human spirit/inspiration, lord of the rings is definately trying to get a message across to humanity, but star wars still had its purpose

    you really cant comparethem

  • @jeffyjeffyjeffy I don't think he was trying to compare them, or say that they were alike in any way. I believe he was just saying, that out of all the popular fantasy movies/books/shows, Lord of the Rings is his favorite. Just because Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are all diverse and great in their own right, doesn't mean you can't have a favorite. :)

  • @ChibiCheeks101 well yeah, i guess i can see favoritism, its just saying one is better than an other just doesn't make sense, you really can't compare them

  • @jeffyjeffyjeffy Of course people can compare them (I know not everyone can), they do it all the time. That's how all those silly fan wars start. Him saying that LOTR is the best out of all of them is just another form of favoritism. =) Who cares? It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things (I'm not even sure what that means in this context! lol!)

  • @MrAbarca6 star trek sucks balls only fat nerds watch it

  • This always makes me cry

  • @star4shine100 same

  • "I can't do this Sam." Heartbreaking. :'( One of the best movie moments ever. <3

  • this is one of my favorite moments in one of my favorite movies in the world

  • Two people were 'too small to understand why' this is one of the best moments in movie history.

  • Comment removed

  • The only movie that ever made me cry.

  • Sam is the workhorse. The one who gives and not counts the cost. He toils and doesn't seek for rest. His only care is his love for good. Money can't buy him out. Obstacles don't scare him. In a way, he is like the joker, but instead of seeing the world burn, he wants to see the world shine.

  • Guys we all have to agree Sam was and will forever be the biggest bro of history

  • Why is there a dislike option for this video?

  • Everyone says they wish they could have a friend like Sam. But really, we all need to try to BE friends like Sam OURSELVES.

Isn't it better to give your friends a Sam (yourself)? That's the kind of selflessness Sam would approve of; rather than waiting for someone to take care of you, try to take care of someone else too!

  • @daffodil977

That might be the most prolific youtube comment I've ever read.

I mean <_< not saying much, but hey, kudos!

  • @FisiVisi uhhh....thank you? I'm not sure what you mean by "prolific", but I'll take it as a compliment. It just occured to me that everyone wants a Sam, but no one will get one without anyone trying to BE one instead, right?

  • @daffodil977 I agree 100%

And I try to be like Samwise everyday.

  • I love that sad look on smeagol's face at the end :(

  • Best scene in the movie.

  • literally how could you dislike this?!

  • i have a friend like sam

  • In my current depressed state, wondering if there was anything left living for, this clip actually made me cry. XD

  • Two orcs disliked this.

  • Is it sad that this is my favorite quote of all time and I know it by heart? lol I've just never been moved so much during a movie by a quote

  • thumbs up for the greatest movie/story of all time!!

  • This makes me think of the darkness in our own hearts. When someone is depressed from loss of a loved one or a scarring experience, a shadow of sorrow, anger, fear covers the light of goodness. But keeping faith in oneself is necessary to fight back, and nobility of thought and form arises from defeat of the darkness.

  • LOTR>>>>>>>>>Avatar

  • This speech is about DP

  • Gives me some hope yet for the West. We may yet rebound from our decline.

  • @angelmarine1292 I surely hope so. When I think what a tragic this world is going through and I hear this it makes me cry every time.

The worst thing is the willful ignorance people abide by.

  • This is so epic!!

  • 3:02 to 3:12....best words in The Two Towers

  • Comment removed

  • Sean Astin deserves an Oscar for this!

  • I think the better thing to wish for is not a friend like Sam, but to become a person who can be a friend like Sam.

  • i get chills every time i watch this

  • Thumbs up if The Lord of the Rings was the story that stayed with you, even though you were too small to understand why.

  • Lotr>Harry potter

  • When i was a kid i used to look up the fight scenes now I'm looking up the talking and life changing parts :)

  • i swear Frodo is constantly dropping that damn sword!

  • when I get sad, I stop being sad and watch lord of the rings clip instead.. true story

  • I had a bad day today, but this actually makes me feel better.

I thank you. Samwise the brave.

  • America has been the light on the hill...obama is burning that light out....as hopeless as most of the LOTR seems to frodo - that is how we conservatives feel in these times

  • @popeous1 Oh just shut up xD

  • @popeous1 i think i can find something wrong with every sentence of your comment

America has been the light on the hill- no it hasnt, what part has made it the light on the hill? the poverty which is far too high for a first world country, the obesity, the discrimination of minority groups?

  • @popeous1 2. Obama is burning that light out- Seriously? Obamas policies have been the best the us has seen since before WW2

  • @popeous1 3.as hopeless as most of the LOTR seems to frodo- wtf? your comparing a world where completely evil armies led by a completely evil leader will probably conquer everything and there's only a slim chance they wont. I'm a liberal socialist living in the uk and i feel annoyed by our conservative majority governments policies but i know that the situation LoTR is a hundred times worse

  • @popeous1 4. that is how we conservatives feel in these times - frodos worried that the world will become an entirely bad place, your worried that your government is spending too much money, you cant say that obama doesnt mean well, unless your even crazier than i imagined and you think he's the anti christ like a few yanks do. Sorry i had to post 4 times the thing wouldnt let me have enough charachters

  • You know, I've been to many speeches of life and world, but none of them can compare to this. This is the ONLY speech I actually cried. :')

  • Sam gives some of the greatest speeches in the world. Everyone needs a friend like Sam. One who will give you a heart-felt speech when you're down, keep all his promises, and forgive you if you press a sword to his throat.

  • @mazeman90 Heaven forbid that he ever need to forgive you for that last part, though.

  • Hemmingway - For Whom The Bell Tolls

  • Likely one of the greatest movie quotes of all time, coupled with what was happening at the time, 9/11 still burned and Terrorism was everywhere.

  • Imagine if Sam said "each other" at 3:33 like most characters in very recent movies say after a long speech. That would have ruined the whole damn monologue and a major theme of the entire trilogy.

  • James Raynor got inspired by this

  • I find it odd there are comments with like, 140 likes and 50 likes, and yet they aren't in the top comments... anyone else notice? o.O

  • The Lord of the Rings makes fighting wars on earth look pointless and stupid.

  • @HoobaNooba wars on earth are pointless and stupid....

  • @HoobaNooba the wars on earth are pointless and stupid without the lord of the rings

  • @HoobaNooba That was Tolkien's point, he was a veteran of the great war (ww1) and he later became a huge protestor against war. Sam is based on all the tommy's and batsmen that tolkien was in command of in the first world war.

  • @TheDocGoblin thanks!

  • @HoobaNooba my comment probably seems really sarky, sorry about that, i was on the phone at the time and clicked post by accident, i meant to end it with a smiley face and say it was good tolkiens message got out :)

  • @TheDocGoblin don't worry it's fine. what i mean by pointless is that we are fighting against our own race and in middle earth they are fighting against an enemy, which are the orcs.

  • After watching "The Road" this place looks like paradise. lol

  • I'm using this as an audition monologue for The Crucible.

  • Better than Aragorn's speech at the Black Gate in my opinion.

The beauty of struggle, of hope, and of perseverance is captured so well in this speech, that I can't help but say that for every obstacle that we face, there is something there, something on the other side, waiting for us, be it another obstacle, or the prize we week.

Sometimes all we have is hope, but sometimes, hope is all we need.

  • Peter Jackson: "Now stick the knife under his chin!"

    Elijah Wood: "Which one?"

  • the one dislike is the evil sam is talking about. the good must like this video!

  • I wish we had more people like him in the world

  • @AliciaDReynolds i base my life off this speech everyone should

  • What is the name of this battle?

  • @mmonicalovesmusic inethilien or helms deep

  • I HAVE A SAMWISE! SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND! but yes i do love sam he is truely the hero! LOVE YOU SEAN ASTIN! (sam)

  • i hope in life i can be like sam and frodo .... not matter how big the berdan they know they can't give up .... they have to keep going in order for change.... and just pray to God to help you fight temptation......

  • Let's all face the facts. Without Sam, Frodo wouldn't have completed his quest. Without Sam, Middle Earth wouldn't have been saved. Samwise Gamgee, brave, true and loyal to the last. I wish I could have a friend like Sam. :')

  • @Kaagh178 but let us not forget .... Sam also needed frodo...he wouldn't of been strong enough, he would had fallen in temptation ... sam needed freodo as much as frodo needed sam!!!!!!!!!!

  • @allgreen96 That's true.

  • @Kaagh178 lets face it without gollum middle earth would have been fucked :D

  • @MyNameIsForve True. He played his part in the end, just as Gandalf said he would.

  • @Kaagh178 Don't we all?

But I think the most important thing is to become a good friend to yourself first.

  • @Kaagh178 HAHAHAH yeaahhhhh

  • How on earth can there be 1 dislike?!?! Somebody's trollin'

  • Two Towers definitely has the largest message that can be applied to the real world. When Merry & Pippin meet with the Ents, Merry says to the Ents "but you're part of this world!" after the Ents decide not to get involved with war. We all live on the same planet so if there's something going wrong then it affects us all. Whenever something bad happens to someone, that person was someone's son, daughter, or friend. It's important we all get involved to abolish bad things from our world.

  • This speech has always reminded of the tragedy of 9/11. And now, ten years later, it still does. America has grown stronger as nation. There IS good in this world and it IS worth fighting for. God bless our troops who are fighting for the good left in our world. Good bless America. Never forget. 9/11/2001

  • I love how even Gollum seems enthralled by Sam's speech

  • @TheMultiForge That is because it's nog Gollum but Smeagol who is listening.

  • The brilliant symbolism is that Frodo has Sam in the exact same position he had Gollum when they first met. A sword at their throats.

  • True heroes are those who know how to fight the good fight. It is not about shedding blood or skilled in arms.

  • This scene alone proves that war is justified and that in time evil will fade

  • I wish sam were my best friend.

  • I cry everytime I see this part. Sam is the bestfriend we all wish we had. Frodo would be no where without him. Every part that makes me cry in the Lord of the rings trilogy involves Sam in some way. In the Fellowship of the Ring, when he swims after frodo in th boat and almosts drowns. And of course all of his inspirational speechs throughout the series. Sam is just over all amazing.. :)

  • i was in a dark place when i saw this and it redeemed me, i was very depressed and this helped me out of it

  • RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! ps the main theme to rudy has alot of the same notes as the shire theme check it out sometime, both are awesome soundtracks

  • "VICTORY!!! WE HAVE VICTORY!!!!" my favorite part

  • @mrvideouploads1 mine too! it just makes me really happy after that big battle that everyone is happy :)

  • @pangaroo333 not true at the end of return when frodo leaves i cry every time
