  • Dude.. SWEET! I like your show.

  • this is bullshit that Daytona should have smashed that viper 6 ways till sunday, i saw lots of driver error.

  • I remember seeing the original episode and they did interviews with the owners afterward. The Viper is running R compound tires and the Daytona is running regular street tires. That explains the drag and road course times.

  • That makes NO SENSE that the Viper would win the drag race. None at all. I love the Viper, it's honestly my favorite realistically OBTAINABLE car, but there's no way in hell it should have won that drag race, unless the superformance had an absolutely HORRIBLE transmission, like an incredibly long-geared 4-speed, or something.

  • haha, keith craft lives a few miles from me.

  • at 5:02 you can see the daytona get on the breaks...

  • @DroidNoid was involved, he crashed during a tarmac rally in Western Australia a few years ago. Killing himself and injuring the co driver. He was driving his Daytona.

  • A lighter more power full car, lost against a heavier car with less power????

  • since when do chinese guys drive vipers? where is your honda Mr. Miaky?

  • Estranho mesmo. Uma diferença a favor da Daytona de 130 CV a mais e de 441 libras a menos e os tempos terem ficado tão diferentes? Pelo menos no 1/4 mile deveria ter feito tempo bem melhor. Muito estranho...

  • Im a huge Viper fan, in fact it is my favorite car, but:

power to weight ratio--> Daytona Coupe

    Aerodynamics both

Handling ---> Daytona Coupe. Makes me wonder, what went wrong , in the Daytona's Lap time/Drag race it should had won. Anyway with that said, why didn't the Viper win, if its faster around the track, in a straight line and cheaper.

  • @pankero1 The only reason why it lost are due to the fact that it had a pair of stone age tires, I'm pretty sure those B/F goodrich are as old as the car itself and if you know anything about rubber, it's that it gets dry and stiff overtime and doesn't grip as well. Had the Daytona been racing on a set of slicks, the viper would merely been a small gray spec in the daytona's rear view mirror. And Personally I find the daytona a lot more attractive than the Viper, it's got the look of an XKE jag!

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD You are aware the Superformance cars are currently being made? I agree the Daytona should have smoked the Viper and it was probably because of tires or a tuning issue but I can guarantee they were not running on old tires. The BFGs are regular street tires and any soft compound on the Viper would make a huge diff.

  • what a croc?

    Viper better track time

    Viper better 1/4 mile time

    Viper cheaper to buy

    Viper cheaper to maintain

    Viper has to win this

If you are going to pick the winner based on looks...why do the performance testing?

  • I'd rather have the Daytona coupe. You can't go wrong with the 60's styling and impressive stats. It may not be as impressive as the viper but it'll be what you make of it.

  • All that power and only mid 12's WOW Not Good!

  • @Chasetk8 I suspect a lot of power was lost through the drive train

  • Drifting is NOT racing. Last time I was on the track in a fast car I didn't have time for hootin and hollerin. They obviously are not real race drivers, this "comparison" is a joke. The original 1965 Shebly Coupe would still smoke that Viper. Doughnuts and tire smoke is cool but not the fast way around a race track. Nor is the way either of these guys "drive." I doesn't take a Phd in engineering to do the math. It must help though, at least with the reality check.

  • lol this is completely retarded

  • Can't understand...

1-The coupe has way more power and is lighter but lost the quarter mile !

2- The viper was quicker around the track but lost in the handling!

  • @MarMPB Crap show, they can do donuts and burnouts but can't drive. There was no pushing to the limit on the track.

  • @MarMPB the coupe probably has way higher gearing than the viper. the viper accelerates quicker but the coupe would have a higher top speed

  • it's not coupe, but coupé, say the hey !

  • yea i dont see how being lighter with more torque and more hp and you still lose. i mean the viper is mean but not that mean......if it was an ACR viper i wouldn understand

  • The Superformance is not a Kit Care.. In fact, when Ordered, you order it from a supplier with your choice of Engine and tranny last I checked.. It is then delivered as a Whole Car.. I also Chalk up the Viper's Drag and Race Performance to it's Gearing.. A car must be Geared properly to take advantage of it's power.. Put the Same Gearing in the Coupe, and it would smoke the viper.. Hands Down..

  • Most people can't understand the value of these continuation cars that are built by superformance with all the shelby documentation and VIN#'s matching and they go to the Shelby registry!!!!!!!!!Witch mean it is worth more too!!!

  • the superformance is a kit car. all you get is a rolling chassis and a transmission, as far as I know. You dont get the engine, but dont quote me on that. I am pretty sure you have to build your own Superformance. I think for the chassis and transmission, these cas go for around $15k-$20k depending on the roadster or coupe versions.

  • The narrator is so lame sounding.

  • that made no sense, superformace should have won, that test driver was an idiot too

  • its not really a kit car it's more of a roller

  • ok isnt this a kit car vs a factory production car??? how do they figure this is really a fair battle. someones custom creation vs a standard viper

  • @ashleyshuggybear

    daytona isn't a kit car.

  • listen do the dick head "the viper is everything a race car shoudldnt be" LMAO i would like to see his face after the race

  • so if his head is a dick and you want to see his face after the race, does that mean you want to see his dick?

  • It looks almost like the daytona coupe missed a shift in the drag race...

  • When the Viper lost the dragrace, someone should have realized that something was wrong. To bad they didn't let the owner race it at least.

  • daytona has so much better sound.........

  • sounds like the daytona coupe was sand bagging it. NO WAY with that HP and Weight that the coupe would have lost the drag race.

  • @noodles308

It might not have been geared right for the short game

  • @alcaeus or with all that HP he might not have been able to get traction. Id like to see them at a REAL dragstrip with sticky tires...

  • @noodles308 agreed- 1/3 less horsepower vette will do the same #'s.

  • vipers are not v8s

  • Like I said, just trying to give the benefit of the doubt, as the Torque TV people were all very cool. I would have liked to have driven my own car for the 1/4 mile. The car did an 11.9 at 122 mph at El Toro, which isn't exactly a perfect surface to race on...

  • Oh please....that quarter mile was such a joke. You could tell the Daytona let off. Of course they gave it to the Daytona, it won....but they had to give the numbers to the Viper. Probably got paid by Dodge. :\

  • Car is much better now and I would like to have a rematch with Kumho V710s and some new brake pads

  • The first run, he spun the tires in second gear and went sideways. The second run, he missed a shift and went from 2nd to 5th. I thought we had the Viper in the 3rd race, but you saw what happened in the video. I'm giving these guys the benefit and blaming it on the clutch. I saw the clutch when we took it out a couple of days later and it was shot! I also had to have my aluminum flywheel resurfaced. It was bad.

  • The drag race was interesting as Sam was driving the Viper and another driver was driving my car for the first time that day. .

  • Just saw a lot of these comments regarding my Daytona. Three things caused the slower lap times: Tires (the Viper had 100 treadwear track tires whereas my car had 300 treadwear street tires), clutch (my clutch was slipping badly and had to be replaced immediately following - that may be the reason for the car slowing in the drag race), brakes (as I already mentioned, Sam said the brakes went away after 2 laps and he never had time to get the tires warm before the brakes quit).

  • im sorry but lance kouchi lmfaoo, but i love the Daytona Coupe from FFR, its a babe of a car, i love that car

  • Imagine that, another asshole that puts all Americans in the same group. I would prefer the engine sounds without the music and I'm 100% American.

  • A setup. You can see the driver of the Daytona Coupe throw the drag race half way down the track. The Viper is behind a couple feet, then suddenly catapults ahead, looks like the Daytona driver takes his foot off the gas pedal. I hate rigged bogus races.

  • I want a daytona coupe one day

  • this must be a setup, the daytona coupe has more horsepower and torque and it's lighter in weight. It loses? how? It must have a crappy transmission or something. I sense some trickery haha!

  • Amazing cars all around. Suprising that the shelby didn't get the faster lap or 1/4 times, but the viper must have better brakes, and the tires on the shelby look a little skinny to take advantage of all that power.

  • 0:45 the viper is a V10 not a V8 :D

  • Finally a test driver who knows how to handle a viper properly lol.

  • I love this service!!

Viper + Cobra = EPIC WIN!!

  • the vipers lap time was really good, only 1.5 secs slower than a gt-r. not bad for a gen II. Sam is one of the best drivers ever behind the wheel of a viper.

  • hows that even a fair race? a new srt-10 would be much better.

  • the dodge viper is an old 1996 model, UNFAIR!!

  • it's a 2002, and the daytona is an old 1964 model, so why the complaint?

  • its not a 64, its a kit you dumb shit.

  • bcoz i wanted the the 2008 viper to kick daytonas ass

  • In H2H Ep 1; Viper SRT-10 is the perfect mach for the daytona coupe

  • The Viper is not a V8, it's a V10.

  • @ori599gtb the viper gts its a v8, the viper srt 10 its a v10

  • @xxXxNykoxXxx No they're all V10, dude. Check your facts.

  • @k6k6k6Darkie ok. sorry

  • @ori599gtb Yea for fact checkers. Sad thing it this is a professional production.

  • That was my car in the video. In the car's defense, it had Nitto 555s on it (very hard compared to the Viper tires) and did not have high temp brake fluid at the time. Sam said the brakes were gone after two laps because the fluid was boiling. I also had to replace the clutch two weeks later as it was already slipping. Can you say rematch??? :o)

  • yea, i thought that was some b/s, maybe it was the tires, theres no way the viper was 2 seconds faster

  • Awesome, I love the Daytona coupes and Vipers as well. Would have liked to see anothr test without the fluid boiling over. And to make it more fair the Viper needs a 3in cat-less exhaust system and some headers to keep the temps down.

    Good test.

  • Doug..great color choice. Very understated...for a DAYTONA COUPE!

  • Having driven both (on and off track), I would say for the average driver, the Superformance is quicker, it's more forgiving and when it does start to slide it can be brought under control much faster. Also, add better tires to the Superformance then the stock rollers and it's no contest...check the One Lap results. Good video.
