Never be peace there until a degree of balanced treatment is reached for BOTH sides.
Israelis are bombing schools, UN headquarters, etc. because THAT is precisely where Hamas is locating their rocket launchers. Israel didn't choose the locations, Hamas did. And they did it precisely so that they could be in a win-win situation. Either Israel refrained from hitting the targets because of the civilians OR Israel did hit civilians and could be villainized. Hamas can then crow 'victory' eithe because Israel didn't attack or because it did attack.
That's how we're different. I DO feel for those Israelis who died innocently. But unlike you, I also feel for the civilians who die daily and suffer at the hands of Israelies!
Israelis don't throw acid or conduct suicide missions because they don't have to! They have state-of-the-art missiles, armor, artillery, courtesy of the USA. Trust me, if the Israelis were as disenfranchised as Gazans, they would resort to violence as well. It is human nature. What the Israelis are doing is criminal.
And why are the Gazans disenfranchised? Because their elected leadership chooses to spend the money donated to them on arms rather than on streets, schools or hospitals. They were handed greenhouses by the Israelis who left Gaza and instead of using them to make a living they destroyed them. This is their choice, not something done to them. If they want a real society, then elect a real leadership!
Nobody is questioning that Hamas is extremist and makes bad decisions. But how can you deny the fact that they are the primary provider of civil services (police, hospitals, etc...) and as a result, many Gazans have to choice but the elect them as leaders. And when they do in a democratic way the rest of the world shuts the off.
They are cut off from the rest of the world and Hamas is the only one who they see standing up for them.
The fact is that what the Israelis are doing is inhuman. They are bombing schools, UN headquarters, hospitals by claiming that "hamas officials were using those buildings." How is this ANY different in striking terror into the hearts of Gazans than what Hamas is doing? Again, just because they are fired by uniformed soldiers doesn't make it less terroristic.
The double standard of Israel and its supporters is astonishing. They are using white phosphorous for Christ sake!
What about the right to live your life without feeling like a caged animal? Without worrying about whether the Israelis are going to allow you to get to work that day? Without worrying about whether you're going to be able to get the medicine you need?
If you cage someone in, agitate them by depriving them of all hope, can you really be surprised when the lash out? Just because Israel has formal armed forces, it doesn't make their attacks any less terroristic, especially when they hit schools!
Israel left Gaza in 2005. Yet the Rockets never stopped. Also, they are NOT caged; they share a border with Eygpt! They know what the Eygptians would do if they rocketed them (see Assad's response in Syria to Islamists in Hama in 1982. 20,000 dead in a weekend, & not another terror threat after).
Israel has sent them more medicine than any of their Arab brethren and even treats pals. in their own hospitals. But perhaps instead of smuggling 200,000 rockets, they should smuggle medicine?
