  • EXCELENT DUDE!!! Soon I will upload my video!! Thanks a lot!!!

  • Good job my friend. Your video was a huge help. I was struggling with a few of the chords. Thanks for posting. WW

  • i have a question, at the beginning of the title it says "ST-201" what does that mean?

  • Great lesson thankyou. Took me a month to be able to play it eyes closed, but worth it. Thanks again.

  • simply perfect!

  • I've been playing for more years than I care to say and about 8 years ago sought out the tab for this song online and taught it to myself. From many years playing, I had no trouble w/ fingering; my trouble was (& I have long fingers for a girl & from playing piano for years) some of the stretches were a bit much (esp on my Taylor, which has fat frets) I wish I could figure out an open tuning to do this so that my fingers don't have to be bent so oddly to get this down, or trade in the Taylor.

  • tune your guitar

  • спасибо, чувак )

  • is it wrong if i use my ring finger instead of my middle finger for the first chord?

  • @onixtheone w/e is more comfy for u i dont hold most chords how its show to hold em, its just easier to switch chords sometimes holdin em a different way.

  • brilliant song :) really love that tune.. its difficult but i know i will get it :) thank you justin ! peace from germany

  • well i cant get the 1st chord shape so iam playing it like an arpeggio, it sounds ok. i cant free up the high e any suggestions guys

  • If your thumb is behind the neck and you're not touching the neck with your palm, it should be okay. You just need to keep trying and you'll get it eventually.

  • i was looking for somethign new coz i just got sultans of swing down and ive found this, thanks just, i realy am grateful and as soon as i get a bloody job ill sort you out some dosh

  • really cool leson and nice playing .. thanks a lot ... this is a really good song for exercising hard chords

  • One of the best lessons ever!!!

  • amazing song great to learn on a rainy day

  • there is some kind of modulation going on in the song?i'm not sure but by ear seems that he kind of goes from A natural minor to A harmonic minor...it gives me these feel....whatever..great song,he is a genius

  • At 0:54 I find it easier to transition to the next chord if I use don't use my pinky and instead use my 4th finger that stays there for the next chord - it becomes an anchor that way. But I still can't play it on a steel string - only a classical. I love this lesson so much - thank you again for presenting this.

  • "world's shortest little finger- whey" hahahahah laughed so much.

  • me too man. =) and the lesson is just wonderfull. justin rulzzz

  • awesome, nice one. I play it slightly differently, which is easier for me, but I learned a lot from your video, you have better fingering!

  • wow the way i learned it is waaay harder, damn

  • hey guys that chord at 3:43? make it easier on yourself and just play the fmaj7 open chord (003210). Same notes just a lot easier positioning. then the next chord is just adding the pinky on the second string third fret

    :)

  • make sure you get the fingering right...giggedy

  • Well Done!

  • Since that's what tends to happen when you play an acoustic guitar, you get a thumbs down

  • my hand is close to snapping but man im pleased i can play this

  • great to have a confident guitar teacher who knows what he's talking about and conveys it well!

  • thanks for your lesson!!

  • This is great...already started playing with some legit tab and found the changes a bit tricky. But a great lesson! Very clear and concise and spot on with the positions, etc. This is a great tune to warm up with...many thanks...good tip about the dynamics at the end aswell.

  • Great lesonn dude .,,,, thanx!!

  • ahaha have u seen when he says:"i struggle a bit 'cause i've got the world's shortest little finger..weey!"ahaha it crackes me up i've seen that part like 4 times ahahaha anyway justin u rock. just respect for you.

  • i'm sorry you've never studied classical guitar, that's obvious

  • what makes u say that?

  • It kind of reminds me of Carpe Diem. Not the Metallica, one of the chapters from Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons.

  • ahhh man, my hands hurt stupid big stretch :(~!

  • this totally help's (Y)

    thanks alot!!

  • baybeeeeee

  • 700kotchi dude you are stupid or something? buy a brain and shut the fuck up this lessons rules!!!!!!! asshole!

Thanks justin keep rockin man you are one of the best teachers of youtube!!!!

  • Great lesson. Thanks. ; )

  • far from!!! shut up you fool!

  • dude I WOULD take a fuckin shit on your face, chop you up into pieces, the burn your body parts, then set them on fire and piss on the ashes.

That is how much I hate ignorant people who talk about music like they know everything when YOU really don't.

  • I would like you to see how you play. Genius !

  • this is a good lesson but there is a far easier way to play it with way fewer hand movements on the chord changes. check this video:

    watch?v=GpugP2BzsUg

  • also remember with this song guitar position is important. many people play with their guitar on their right leg. for this song, get the guitar on your left leg and the neck up high. it really helps with that long ass chord, your fingers will be able to stretch more easily. also in the video i posted your fingers all stay planted for all 3 of the beginning chords which makes it a lot easier, you can just slide them along the strings into place.

  • good lesson helped me out! also you remarkably pointed out the importance of dynamics, which many guitar players forget in their shredding.

music is to express one self...

  • sorry about the whole male pattern baldness

  • dude,

    thank you so much

  • very good!!! im learning this song by watching your video!!!

  • Great lesson. Straight forward and easy to follow. You're a good teacher. Very insightful regarding dynamics. I always stress this point with my students. Great job!

  • Can you do one for always with me always with you?

  • thank sir extremely helpful

  • awesome lecture, this helps...alot

  • excellent lesson, just like your others!

thank you for your great work.

  • Thanks dude. Great lesson.

  • Hey there mate, as a long time classical guitarist recently turned lazy, this video was incredibly helpful in learning how to play this song. Well done! :) Keep up the good work!

  • thanks for this,very helpful.

  • very accurate lesson...and a sound guy haha nice one man

  • it's a MATRON acoustic, just look at his web-site

  • it's a MATRON acoustic, just look at his web-site

  • there can be also a steel string classical guitar but it can demage it cause of a strong pull of these......

  • That song is so moving, most songs now'a days you dont get the feel of emotion you do with this one.. a beauty and beautifully played justin 200/5 stars =D

  • it isn't a classical guitar its a steel string acoustic... classical guitar has nylon strings

  • or cat gut strings.

  • Maybe 150 years ago.

  • Why can it ONLY be played on a classical guitar?

  • Wow. you got yourself a new student.

It's also very refreshing to see someone play that song on a classical guitar instead of an electric.

  • Thank you sooo much! This really helped me. This song is so beautiful, and I am am really working hard on playing it! Thank you so much...you have been a great help.

  • Perfect! U got a nice way to explain how to play, camera shows the really important things. The best tutorial I have seen here so far. :) I started playing this song last weekend, ur vid is the kind of support I needed. :) Thanx a lot an keep rockin!

  • I think there's an easier way to switch from Dminor9 to C Major13 (05:05)

    Dm9 :

    1st finger : Bstring/6th fret

    2nd finger : Estring/8fret

    3rd finger : Gstring/9fret

    (open Dstring)

then play the Cmajor13 just as Justin plays it

hope it was clear and will help some of you

  • Good shout but justin's chord sounds much fuller and how it should sound even though you're playing the same notes.

  • Nice and easy song to learn. I played it at age 15 when I first started.

  • Does anybody know if Joe Satriani taps that final A note on the E string like that or does he just pick the A string?

  • It is picked, not tapped. I don't know why he did it that way. If you listen to Joe play that note loud or with headphones, there is absolutely no contact with the fretboard, so it is the open A string.

  • Uh that's So Romantic..

im in tuched with what u'v done baby,im so glad thnx

  • a perfect implementation

  • I love that song. you rock dude! Nice job

  • You rock dude!

  • FUCK YEAH!! A classic satriani song! And you nailed it spot on dude. Cheerz plenty...one of the best tutorials i've witnessed. Champion!!!

  • Thanks Justin! What is the name of the first chord (the "stretcher")? Names of the following 2nd and 3rd chords (D shape)? Also the 9th chord change after the "stretcher" (7968 fret)?

Then after Abdim chord each 3 frets down - can I call them Fdim, Ddim and Gbdim?

Then after that, with the 2nd finger on the 6th str (IV fret) - does the 3rd finger on the III fret cover 2 strings (G and B)? What is the name of this chord and the following one? Thanks.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. And also you showed us that it was possible to play this song correctly on an acooustic guitar caus of the Gigantic stretch.

  • Perfect *.*

  • I am so cut for some strange reason there is no sound in this video for me. Everything in on nothing is muted, theres just no sound. But i rlly wanna learn this song, im thinking about learning it without the sound and just watching his fingers lol.

  • good man!

  • Great lesson.. it will be years b4 i learn to play it.. my lil finger is smaller LOL. Great lesson though, ur fkin awsome!!!

  • FUCK U R SICK!!! Love it, thanks for the tutorial. Beautiful beautiful song, and u played it absolutely spot on. 5 stars

  • this lesson is great, your a good man.

  • hey justin where do you go for tabs

  • on that Cmaj 13 chord where you have to stretch your finger right over I find it easier to fret the top string with my thumb although I imagine all those classical buffs will slaughter me for saying it!

  • do it if you find it easier, there are lots of chords impossible to play without that technique, but maybe its better to practice and get to stretch the finger easily

  • awesome lesson

  • i cant learn this song for shit! fooking impossible lol
