@GuitarMasterDudeGMD songs #3, 6, 8 are quite technical as well. This one did not strike me as the most technical of the album.

This song is in my opinion the only one that is really good on the album. The album lacks balls. The balls to do stuf thats strange while labrie is singing. Is it me or does every song that is not a balad on this album have a palmmuted guitar part when the vocals begin? I mean comeone! the songs are not different enough. They are a little bit all the same and simple. I miss songs like The Ministry of Lost Souls, great ballad in the beginning and totally weird chords.

did anyone else notice that this song seems more technical than the rest of the album. My thoughts are that they did more of a technical song to start off the album to draw more people in so they can be bask in the awesomness of the rest of the album?

@HybridLouis You really need to Remeber that Mike Mangini brings a new life to Dreath Theater.. and also don't forget that all the drum parts for this album were already written if you look at interviews before the album was released John explained that.. the only way your going to love what Mike Mangini is all about.. GO SEE A LIVE SHOW.. To me the last 2 albums were good, but you could tell something was brewing in the band. Before saying anything about Mike Mangini... wait for the next album

For 2, Mangini Does not lack portnoys creativity, there just two different drummers.
