A Forgotten Keith Haring Painting Is Found by Contractors

Actually, my cousin and her husband who purchased the restaurant, found the painting when they were converting it into their condo. You can not see it in this video b/c they covered it up (as you can see with the white overlay), the painting is a very erotic painting, full of penises!! I saw it first-hand!

I never knew him and no- I was even close to as successful as he was. Im glad you two were friends, but Im entitled to my opinion. I cant have an opinion on him as a person, but I can have an opinion on his art, and I think its just doodles.

no, it was not doodles and it's apparent that you wouldn't know art if it came and kicked you in your ass. Keith was an amazing artist that was and still is well respected in the art community. If Andy Warhol endorsed him as he did, then who really cares what you think?

maybe, but who cares? he made people habby. It's the great messages hidden behind this simple piece of art. I'm not interested in art anyway and I like it it makes me smile. That's what his art was made for. the people on the street, not the critics. Art for everyone. Simple, emotional funny and sad.

why do you think he was over rated? for his time the amn was a genius, and a great person, I am sure you never met him. we wer friends for over 8 years before he died and let me tell you he was not over rated, besides has anything you ever done ben worth more than mabye $10 an hour? he was better tyhan andy warhol, and andy knew it too.

I still think the wall should be covered in plexi in order to ensure it's preservation as advised. Anything can happen, like my grandpa painting over it as a "favor" to me while I'm on vacation, or, whatever. Also, they could maybe seal the surface somehow don't you think?

I do not live too far from this area and i am thinking about going to see the space and take some pictures if possible. I don't know if it is available for viewings , but i would like to be in that very room where Keith stood, squatted, and sweat while making this piece. As a teen in the 80's many a times I would b coming home late from school or work and would see Keith doing graffiti in chalk on the blank advertisement spaces. I love Keith Haring.
