  • I've always loved The 5th's breezy pop-soul rendition on this tune. As always, great harmonies and vocals.

  • This a German-pressed 45 of "What Does It Take" By 5th Dimension....on Capitol Records "target-C" logo label..The USA 45 and it's album ("love's Lines,Angles,And Rhymes") Were issued on Bell Records (Arista Records)

  • Well does any version of a remade hit song ever top the original? I don't think the Fifth top it but Marilyn and Billy's duet here in The inimitable Fifth style certainly does it justice.

  • It was ok, but that's about it. No version can compare to Jr. Walker's, especially the sax. Sorry.

  • One of my favorites by The Fifth! Tom Scott contributed some fantastic Sax and Flute work on their albums.

  • I disagree with tonywsmith2. I love this version of the song. The voices, the band, the arrangement and the production quality...what's not to love? Just because the style wasn't standard recording faire for the 5th, doesn't mean it wasn't done well. Because it was!!!

  • Bless Marilyn and the Gang for trying this, but out of respect for Junior Walker,

and the ears of people who loved many fine Fifth Dimension records, they should have passed. To call this simply a waste of time would be a stretch.

  • Straordinario!THANKSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Man...I'm gonna have to hurry up and get the Portrait lp...it's becoming my 3rd fav of the 5D lps.

What a nice rendition of a classic. I like it when the 5D does soul. I can' t understand why hardly ANY of their "soul/R&B" type songs were released as singles.

On this particular song I like how you can distinctly hear all five members. You can even distinguish Ron and Lamonte...which ...for me...is still sometimes difficult unless Lamonte takes the "low" notes.

  • btw I didn't mean to say that THIS song was on the Portrait lp...cuz it's not...it's on Love Lines Angles and Rhymes.

  • Great fidelity! - 5D Fan
