  • one person was knocked out by the falcon punch

  • Was he on rythm x snare?

  • @bdkid16 Yup

  • pretty sure he marched rx

  • That's a sick solo.

  • Wow

  • This solo goes along with what the Blue Stars do as a drum corps. Very well.

  • I love how he put some Lt. Kije in there....NICE!

  • when he went into those crazy fast threes and the sound quality didn't change AT ALL, i pretty much shit myself.

  • those are 4s dude

  • then it's odd that the music that david oriente himself supplied to snare science reads they're 3's.

  • my apologies it would seem then that you are correct

  • it's cool man.

  • this is the best solo i've ever seen

  • Blue stars beat BD dayem

  • @blink86132 BD isn't like a powerhouse Cavs and Phantom arent that far behind them BD goes for Technical which does win comps but Cavs and Phantom always like to show a lot of emotion. All good corps though.

  • the sheet music for this is on snarescience... insane.

  • i like bass line more than i do snares. but this guy kicks ass

  • OXXOI77777 you are my new hero!

    and david, amazingggly sweet solo.

  • gridding book reports???? wtf???

  • lol yup xD

  • thats just too bad ass

  • ...

    Someone has chops...

  • i bet he cant do that again o.o lmao

  • ...like captain falcon's B button attack?

  • If you would have moved the camera over 5 ft. to the left, i was sitting front row. haha but amazing solo. So sick to see it in person

  • that was pretty sick. he nailed every single note. props to this guy.

  • nice nice

  • Alright Dave! Looking good man! Sweet solo, congrats on the win! Hope to see you around indoor time. =)

  • hell ya, nailed that shit!!!! mad props!!!

  • Nice!

Mad props to you by the way at 1:50 for pulling out concert sticks and playing Lt. Kije!

...I'm probably one of three people that caught it.

  • I'm glad you know your stuff, but being one of the "three people that caught it" doesn't make you better than everyone else who didn't if that's what you're implying.

  • I think its pretty impressive that he caught it...not many people recognize orchestral snare exceprts...

  • David... you are a badass!! I'm glad this was tapped, congrats!

  • yay David!!!

  • i totally loved the book reports section. that was great!

  • idk this was nice. it didnt really flow much. but that's besides the point...over all it's clear why he won, this is one of the best solos i've ever seen =) technique, ailed it, sound quality, nailed it. independence, and flash. nailed it. yeah. champion for sure. dude. congrats!

  • Wow, Blue Stars had some real talent this year :)

  • TITS Man!!!

    FCO!!!

  • :O DEAR GOD.

  • OH MY GAWD

  • hmmmmm hella boring in the beginning until the end it was much better and great but clean

  • DAMN!....(thinks of something to say)....DAMN!

  • this is definetly one of the best solos ive ever heard

  • thats an amazing solo...great job

  • It was a great performance.. no doubt.

  • so much better than that blue devils bullshit that wins every year.

  • very clean..

    but very boring.

  • Dude BD was amazing this year. If you had of saw their solos from this year you would have been wowed xD But his solo was the shizz too!

  • i'm very biased against BD. i strongly dislike them. have you seen blue stars in the lot? i would think it's safe to safe to say they put out more sound than any other line in drum corps. and i hate the bd solos because they are always just a bunch of tricks. they don't have half the sound quality of the blue stars guys.

  • i prefer tricks in solos. this solo i found boring. this guy has sick chops but a boring solo. i like snare solos that are interesting to watch, even if that means its a bunch of stick tricks

  • call me old school, but I guess I just believe it quality and composition, as opposed to gimmicks

  • well besides coats and cadets, yea. Blue stars also are unable to play 3 inch taps, or 4, or 5.

  • no, we definately were able to, just asked not to. Not wrong, difference in approach

  • interesting, i didn't realize you were told that. either way, still a great sound at that forte level

  • well...when you play with a world class hornline that was as loud as the Blue Stars hornline, then everything level has to come up. somehow, I 3" low end doesn't make it through in the whole mix. NOONE plays a literal 3" anyway. If they did, there would be no tap sound. for real check out ANY line EVER and see if they play 3" inches.

  • i'm an open class guy with a really old school instructor, so yes, i have played literal 3 inch rolls... always hated it. But some groups do get pretty close, i think cadets brought their heights down, vanguard and cavies keep it low too, if what i remember is correct

  • Low, but not 3". I promise watch the videos, or wait till next season and check em out. We had plenty of quiet sections too. When the corps plays loud, we play loud, when they play soft, we play soft.

  • haha, you dont need to promise me that. neither of us have rulers anyway

  • haha alright. I mean sure you can SAY 3 inches. But it's only an effort to get kids to play softer, realistically bring the tap height down to 5 maybe 4. I know Mcnutt at the cadets is all about 4" low end. Hell I've called out 3" before with no actual intension of having kids play that height. If you "think" 3", you'll get the dynamic you want.

  • agreed

  • Blue Stars don't teach to play 3". Brent Montgomery defines all taps for them as 4". i went to all the camps last year i was one of the very last snares to get cut.

  • okay this crowd is fucking weak. This guy just threw the fuck down!

he annihilated the competition with this one.

  • he was great.. but he put everyone to sleep.

  • How could this put anyone to sleep? :/ this is probably the most creative solos I have seen.

  • yeah. Everyone who doesn't know shit about the rudimental challenges and complexity that goes along with what he's playing, and how great a sound quality he's playing with. If he was in BD or SCV they'd probably cheer louder

  • I had maybe 15 or less people in the room, I went last. My whole corps wasn't even at I&E. The people watching me were mostly older, therefore that watched with polite silence, the way anyo mature would watch a performer on a stage. I had enough people afterward come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed watching me perform. Thank you for assuming though, I'm sure you were in the crowd too.

  • As far as I'm concerned, the people in the crowd acted very respectfully and maturely. They let me have my focus.

  • Crowd hype would have been nice, don't get me wrong. But I looked up at the people quite often. Every eye was wide open. Definately didnt put people to sleep

  • i just wanted let you know that you are the man and that i look up to you and hope to make it to your level someday. thank you now have a nice day.

  • FCO

  • Very clean. Nice sounding snare drum too!

  • FCO!

  • FALCON PUNCH!!

  • FCO! Amazing!

  • dave...this was awesome. nice to see a Marist grad do so well...

  • did this guy win?

  • Yes, he won.

  • 1:02-1:08 = mind blown.

  • single rimshots: WOW

  • sound quality FTW!

  • im just hyped cause i bet this guy 50 bucks 7 months prior to this, that he was gonna win. So dave, wheres my 50 bucks.

  • Yeah homie! welcome to the club! lol

  • DUUUUAVE!!!!

sick man... just sick, keep it brutal
