This is such a wonderful video! I don't care what other people think, I still love this version of Emma and Jeremy Northam as Mr Knightley the best. Everyone else can have Mr Darcy, I'll take Mr Knightley <3
Yep, I saw the BBC one, but I preferred this version. Maybe it's because, as AnitaClue said, nobody tops Northam's Knightley. But I also felt that the BBC version was too serious at times, and considering that Emma was Austen's most lighthearted novel as it was more about the characters than about social commentary. Paltrow's portrayal also more closely mirrored my image of Emma than Beckinsale's (I know, I'm in the minority here).
personally, i agree with you. paltrow was closer to my image of emma both physically and in portrayal. plus NOBODY tops northam. i love his portrayal!
@KatiRaAliesse I saw the newest one as well and while it was better than the Beckinsale version I find that I still prefer the Gwyneth Paltrow version. :-)
Wow, ANY Jane Austen-themed video would have been good, but I LOVE this! Thanks so much! At first I didn't think the music went all that well, but it made a lot more sense on a second viewing.
Emma is my second favourite Austen novel next Persuasion.
But Emma just holds a special place in my heart because we read it for 11th Grade English and we also had a Jane Austen Tea Party, dressed up, and danced all the dances from the movie.
Ah, I didn't know this movie existed! Even though Emma was probably one of my least favourite of Austen's creations, it was an enjoyable story.
Your video was very nice. The song didn't really seem to match with the images to me, but that's likely because I haven't seen the film. I look forward to your future videos.
Thanks for commenting! The song, IMO, is about how someone the singer loves/the relationship has changed significantly, which is exactly what happens because of Frank Churchill. Take, for example, this segment: "I came across a fallen tree/I felt the branches of it looking at me/Is this the place we used to love?...Oh simple thing where have you gone?/I'm getting old and I need something to rely on." I don't know. People interpret this song differently, but this is what popped into my head. :-)

Have you not seen the BBC version. You might like that one even better. Great video.

If you combined the two you'd have it just about perfect. Nobody's top's Northam's Knightley.

Wow. I wish my school could be that cool.
Now I'm going to have to hold a Jane Austen Ball (but I'm one of about six people that have actually read her books. It's sad, really)
Still, it sounds like oodles of fun!
