Paul Washer, you dance like a cat on a hot tin roof around the law issue. Why not say it outright?Obey the Father's commandments to be saved for that is what Matt.7:21-23 says. And did you know that Yahushua's gospel is totally based on the law and that He tells us to obey the Father's law in many places. It is not a different law but the same original laws (like 10 commandments).See Matt.13:41-42; John 15:10;1John2:3 tells us Yahushua knows us who keep Father's commands. Paul,Is.8:20 is for you

I use to go to lakewood(Joel Osteen's church) and he use to lead that pathetic unbiblical prayer, and the people in that church not all but at least half are just like the world, and act just like the world. They just go there to see Joel not to worship God.

In John 2:23-24 He could see that It was just and Intellectual Ascent. Paul said I declare unto you the Gospel Jesus Knows All Men

Some have a mental ascent to Jesus its in the mind not the heart Jesus reads hearts Men can fool men but men cannot fool God.

Actually its very easy to be saved and it can be done in a moment when one believes in His heart.

Saddly Pauls weakness is his teaching on soul salvation..

Paul makes it sound so difficult and Jesus made it so easy.

I couldn't agree more. Why is it that preachers who preach the WHOLE Gospel, which DOES include the subject of hell, are perceived as non-loving and hate-filled; and this is not by the world alone, but by many professing Christans! To NOT share the whole Gospel is in fact non-loving and hate-filled, but sadly many fail to see this.

your sermon would frighten and dismay the reformers. they taught that assurance was the essence of faith and assurance came from Christ not our works welcome back to Rome. your theology leads to despair and doubt .

That's the point. We're supposed to despair of our own righteousness and doubt that anything we do can save us, but, on the same token, if we think we're saved because we prayed a prayer and asked Jesus in our heart but, even after years, there has been no change in us, we shouldn't assume that we're saved. 1John speaks of this thoroughly. Btw, which Reformer could you quote that would disagree with this?

In Roman-Catholicism you may never know whether or not you are saved because it is considered a sin (the sin of presumption).

However, once one has examined his life and has come to the conclusion he lives a godly life, he can declare himself a Christian and can say about himself that he is saved, unlike in Romanism.

No, it doesn't lead to despair or doubt in those who love truth.

It leads to a Godly sorrow, which leads to true repentance, that leads one into a true relationship with Christ, which in the end leads to eternal life. In that true relationship is salvation, is the blessed assurance; that's not of self, or anyone else, but of Christ alone!

Assurance that's not of Christ, which has its roots in any other source, isn't assurance at all; nope, it's just a strong delusion based any number of lies!
