There are decades of research that show GM technology is perfectly safe to human health, the only issue, which is only a rare issue, comes from the chemicals, namely glyphosate (nothing to do with GM plants) that are put on the crops!
@mdigity The huge majority of GE crops used are RoundupReady(made to be sprayed with glyphosate), so by your own admissioon the majority of GE crops used pose a potential danger to human health. There has not been decades of studies of all GE crops(some have just been created recently, and most developed decades ago are no longer in use) and most of those studies are 90 day(or less) rodent trials done by the biotech companies themselves. There are very few long term, human, etc. studies done.

Monsanto are just another big corperation like nestle, like coca cola, like apple, like microsoft, the list could go on. Hate capitalism don't hate technology!
Real reason of genetical research is to find a way how to contaminate natural plants (wheat, corn, soya etc.) with genetically modified so that they cannot breed on themselves anymore, so that you must BUY seed for every new generation of plants. Plants are basic food for people and for the animals we use for food. Imagine world where no plant grows except GM ones? That's ultimate goal of Monsanto. But, that is just one step closer to devil's ultimate goal. Read Bible folks...
Monsanto is not money hungry, but power-over-all-human-beings hungry. It is all about food control for the whole world (if possible)...just as it is written in Bible. Death will certainly find them at the end, just the question is what cost will we pay until then... Monsanto belongs to the same dark force to whom belong those mean guys who print dollars like toilet paper, whenever necessary. Money printing control was just the first step (after they abolished gold dollar long time ago).
@kaltrushify Did you even read any of the studies I gave you? You need to get realistic, the green revolution was short lived, it caused water shortages, water contamination etc. Organic yields increased in several studies in poor countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, these studies and many more are referenced in the review studies I gave you. Most studies suggest organic can feed the world now and 40+ years from now. Read the studies.
@MrCockSlut UN report Agroecology and the Right to Food“To feed 9 billion people in 2050, we urgently need to adopt the most efficient farming techniques available,” says Olivier De Schutter, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food and author of the report. “Today’s scientific evidence demonstrates that agroecological methods outperform the use of chemical fertilizers in boosting food production where the hungry live --especially in unfavorable environments.”
@MrCockSlut UN report Organic Agriculture and Food Security in Africa "Organic farming can lead to increased food production – in many cases a doubling of yields has been seen""the average crop yield increase was even higher for these projects: 116 per cent increase for all African projects and 128 per cent increase for the projects in East Africa"
As you can see these stats are from studies on organic farming.
@myndy86 When compared to what sort of farming method? African farming methods are rather primitive and low yielding. Organic farming still allows lots of chemicals such as coppersulphate and alkai crystals derived from soil bacteria, I think its a bit of a con really. Use of modern fertilizers in conjunction with GM is most definitely higher yielding than organic
@MrCockSlut You said "When compared to what sort of farming method?" Conventional farming. You said "Use of modern fertilizers in conjunction with GM is most definitely higher yielding than organic" You have to consider that numerous studies found on average, organic farming yields are significantly higher in times of drought or poor access to water, which is the case in most poor countries. GE crops require much more land than organic due to land needed for refuges and buffer zones, etc.
@MrCockSlut The huge majority of GE crops grown were designed to be tolerant to synthetic herbicides.
UN report Agroecology and the Right to Food “Conventional farming relies on expensive inputs, fuels climate change and is not resilient to climatic shocks. It simply is not the best choice anymore today."
As you can see, most abundant GE crops grown, would not be resilient to drought conditions like organic would. Those GE crops would also require expensive synthetic herbicides.
@MrCockSlut Agroecology and the Right to Food "Malawi, a country that launched a massive chemical fertilizer subsidy program a few years ago, is now implementing agroecology, benefiting more
than 1.3 million of the poorest people, with maize yields increasing from 1 ton/ha to 2-3 tons/ha.” You do realize that commercially available GE crops were not designed to have higher yields, right? Where are the independent studies that current GE crops can double or triple yields in poor countries?
@MrCockSlut You said "Organic farming still allows lots of chemicals", Agroecology and the Right to Food "projects in Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh recorded up to 92 % reduction in insecticide use for rice, leading to important savings for poor farmers. “Knowledge came to replace pesticides and fertilizers. This was a winning bet, and comparable results abound in other African, Asian and Latin American countries,”
@myndy86 So your denying that organic food available in supermarkets uses chemicals? How were the yield affected by that massive reduction in insecticides? GM Bt cotton in china has = 70% reduction in insecticides, $30 saving per hectare and 80-87% increase in yields (Christou 2006 trends in plant science vol 11). And also have been shown to improve biodiversity. Ignorance breeds fear.
@MrCockSlut 52% of all organic farms in the U.S, use no pesticides whatsoever. All 3 of those countries had increased yields(79% average) without the additional pesticides. No, Bt cotton has had 0% reduction in insecticides, because the Bt cotton itself is classified as a pesticide. The "80-87% increase in yields" stat came from the Matin Qaim study which used only Monsanto's data. The Indian government has published their own non-biased studies which are very different than Monsanto's data.
@MrCockSlut China's State Environmental Protection Agency(SEPA), "diversity index of the insect community in the Bt cotton fields is lower than conventional cotton fields, while the pest dominant concentration index is higher. The balance of the insect community is weaker in Bt cotton fields than in fields of conventional crops, because some kinds of insects thrive in the Bt fields and this is more likely to cause outbreaks" china.org.cn/english/2002/Jun/33779.htm

@kaltrushify UN and World Bank report, the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development, done by 400 scientists, concluded that biotech crops have very little potential to alleviate poverty and hunger. Robert Watson, the director of the IAASTD, and chief scientist at the UK DEFRA, responded to a question from the newspaper, The Daily Mail – Are GM crops the simple answer to hunger and poverty? with the words, "I would argue, no."
No, but its like this! The world is screwed up,ok. We are to many ppl on this planet. Arable land is decreasing each year, meaning that in the future we have to grow more food on smaller areas. Organic agriculture is not enough to supply the earths population the way it is now. I mean you need to get realistic.
maybe i'm too naive, but i think it's upon us (especially when the population is growing!) to think about the way we consume!!! we take it for granted that there's everything available at any time. and we don't want to change our ways. it's a sad excuse to say "there's not enough for everyone" when YOU can have a burger at 4 o'clock in the morning. i bet even if the whole world would plant gmo stuff, there'd still be poor farmers and hungry children in the 3rd world!
Responder a este vídeo... If we today had grown only organic foods a lot of the population wouldnt have survived, I mean becuase of the green revoultion, many milllions and millions of people could stop suffering from hunger! I dont know who claims that organic agriculture is the answere to the problems must live in planet happy!
@kaltrushify UNEP-UNCTAD report "Organic Agriculture and Food Security in Africa ", the study demonstrates that organic agriculture can be equal or better for food security than most conventional systems and is more likely to be sustainable in the longer term, as it builds up levels of natural, human, social, financial and physical capital in farming communities. It also favours the use of low carbon footprint production methods and local resources.
@kaltrushify Here are some links to studies suggesting organic would benefit poor countries more than conventional and GM crops. There are plenty more studies as well. srfood.org/images/stories/pdf/ press_releases/20110308_agr oecology-report-pr_en.pdf
When it comes to herbecide resistance, if that would occurr, just change the herbecide. There are many types of herbicides avaliable with different modes of action. The change of herbicide has been a common practice way before development of GM.
In a world where the population is growing crazy fast, arable land is being lost due to lack of knowledge and ocerusage of lands, climate changes .....the need for more and better food will increase. And we all know that teh ones that will suffer arent
Fear of antibiotic resistance could be avoided by introducing other selective marcers such as mannose or xylose. The antibiotics used as selective marcers today are kanmycin and hygromycin- two types of antibiotics no longer used to treat human.
There are no known mechanisms for transfer of genes from plants to bacteria. Transfer of DNA from ingested foo to gut microbes is highly unlikely. Why would transgene behave any different fom other plant DNA?
The research anout GMO, I agree should be shifted to th euniversities, but with this huge public and government opposition no research money is being invested in GMO:s, so we will have companies like the MOntesano investing in this type of research and of course we all know that profit is their only interest.
When it comes to concern about GMO, here are some facts:
1) eventual gene transfer from GMO:s could be avoided by apomixis, terminator thechnology and chloroplast transformation.
everyone interested in taking action towards the labeling of genetically modified foods, rally. educate. protest. and buy food labeled non-gmo.
There is a rally this Saturday, March 26th across the nation. Go to rally for the right to know on facebook, or onto the organic consumers association page.
We're fighting against a multi-national corporation. We can use all of the help we can get!!
Research has shown the dangers of GM food. Read the research NOT SPONSORED by the biotech companies & then make a decision. Don't believe the companies that are only interested in profits & have a very bad track record when it comes to concern for safety.
Anyone who does not believe that our food is being contaminated and poisoned by the likes of Monsanto, don't deserve to live - they're too fucking stupid! Monsanto is single handedly destroying this planet, all in the name of profit! Their plan is to genetically modify every organism on the planet and what's really scary - so far, they are succeeding. Kill the bastards!!!!!!!!!!!
Scientists in Austria recently conducted the 1st ever long-term multi-generational feeding study of Monsanto's genetically modified corn . . . The mice were allowed to live a natural life and were monitored for four generations. The scientists found that mice fed GM corn had significantly less pups per litter than the control group on the 3rd & 4th generation. Pups whose parents were fed GM-feed weighed less at birth & experienced significantly higher mortality rates than those fed non-GM corn.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What was the corn genetically modified to do? I think if GM products go through the same tests as other products I think they're perfectly fine, I mean how would a GM product be different from any other?
Read the label. Do not buy Wheat, corn, soy, or Canola products. This reduces the sales of big corporate, that reduces the sales of GMO's, then Monsanto cannot lie so easily about their toxic food. I have severe allergies to it, I get hives, excema, and even liquid in my lungs. If I do not eat it? I have NONE of these "symptoms".
@bogus1st If you try to sue a multi-million (probably billion) dollar company like Monsanto with facts on the slow to appear side effects of gmo foods you will be buried in court/lawyer fees and never win. They have too much power. Vote by buying organic and non-gmo food .... as far as our food goes that vote counts more than our political votes.
One of the things we can do to stop Monsanto is to spread the word and help to educate others about GMO. I truly believe if more folks understood the dangers involved with GMO contaminating our food source, they would take action.
beer, wine, ciggs, even hot beverages are labelled! packaged food is labelled w/all sorts of information! But no wording about GM. Why won't my Gov't. require labelling of GM products? Why is my Gov't kowtowing to a bunch of Big Business money-mongers instead of serving the people who elected them? What happened to my right to choose? My freedom of choice? What, are the Big Business corporations scared their labelled GM products won't sell? That's no excuse to hide your products/food in ourstores
We need to fight Monsanto and keep our crops edible and sellable. Vandana Shieva of India has fought Monsanto and Won! We can do it, too! Send a letter to your local leaders, e-mail this video to your friends and Family! The government who gets pid under the table by Monsantos lobbiests, is keeping this all down low, just like they did with Global Warming. Once the word gets out to the unsuspecting public, they will stand up to these greedy corporations and win! Take action today!
Is there any way to stop Monsanto? I do NOT want GM wheat! I need bread everyday. How come I as a consumer, do NOT have the right to choose what bread I eat?!!!
I'm not into genetically mutant foods either, its strange how they are working so hard to shove it down our throats but maybe when it kills their own children they will be sorry
don't worry . the word is out that wheat making products is no different seasond glue. People will give up breads adn the like just as they are giving up cigarettes. There will be no market for wheat in the future except to wall paper your walls.

@myndy86
No, but its like this! The world is screwed up,ok. We are to many ppl on this planet. Arable land is decreasing each year, meaning that in the future we have to grow more food on smaller areas. Organic agriculture is not enough to supply the earths population the way it is now. I mean you need to get realistic.
kaltrushify 8 months ago
@kaltrushify
maybe i'm too naive, but i think it's upon us (especially when the population is growing!) to think about the way we consume!!! we take it for granted that there's everything available at any time. and we don't want to change our ways. it's a sad excuse to say "there's not enough for everyone" when YOU can have a burger at 4 o'clock in the morning. i bet even if the whole world would plant gmo stuff, there'd still be poor farmers and hungry children in the 3rd world!

CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT "NATURAL" FOOD IS????
WHICH OF OUR DOMESTICATED ANIMALS ARE "NATURAL"??
Can you grow your natural wheat in the real environment without human intervention?

everyone interested in taking action towards the labeling of genetically modified foods, rally. educate. protest. and buy food labeled non-gmo.
There is a rally this Saturday, March 26th across the nation. Go to rally for the right to know on facebook, or onto the organic consumers association page.
We're fighting against a multi-national corporation. We can use all of the help we can get!!

There will be protests regarding genetic engineering/modification throughout the u.s. on 3/26/11.
Please see the "Rally for the Right to Know" facebook page, for more info.
Petitions can be signed at the "organicconsumers" website.

1. Infiltrate Monsanto like it's employees infiltrated governments.
2. Expose all those involved with Monsanto.
3. Take back the governments and judicial systems.
4. Create a powerful, environmental law firm and a law enforcement body designed to go after those who wish to harm the environment.

What was the corn genetically modified to do? I think if GM products go through the same tests as other products I think they're perfectly fine, I mean how would a GM product be different from any other?

France refused to apply a 2002 law which set out how biotech crops could be planted in areas where other conventional crops were being grown.
The European Court of Justice said France's conduct was unlawful
Paris has said internal opposition by environmentalists is too strong for it to press ahead with the new measures.
On Tuesday, the Luxembourg-based court said its ruling would act as a warning to others that ignoring EU rules had a price

I have NONE of these "symptoms".
lisachimi 3 years ago
If they are causing such symptoms in you, & they are not truthful with their labelling, why don't you sue them?
bogus1st 3 years ago
@bogus1st If you try to sue a multi-million (probably billion) dollar company like Monsanto with facts on the slow to appear side effects of gmo foods you will be buried in court/lawyer fees and never win. They have too much power. Vote by buying organic and non-gmo food .... as far as our food goes that vote counts more than our political votes.
marleybob52 11 months ago
