  • is this oil color or water color?

    thanks to all

  • it's oil painting but he uses terbentina(portuguese i don't know how it's call in english^^)

  • Hi Jim,

Do you sandpaper your canvas, it feels and look smooth.

Do your used gesso? and what type of medium mix are you using.

I find my painting is matt and dull.

    Turpertine makes it dull.

Before I used to used Turp. and linseed - and painting is matt - Now I do not use anything an it the the same - Matt!.

I watched your video last year-but I will keep watching NOW.

Do you have an art gallery or have sold any painting, or teach?

    Cheers!

  • When you dry brush what type of brush are you using.

Thanks again. I can't get enough of your video's do you have any DVD's for sale.

  • When your using acrylics is it better to thin the paint with water, or use the paint as is.

Thank you so much for your great video's and answering my questions.

  • fellow artist jim your tutorials are fantastic spent several semesters at a local city college with burnt out teachers who would call roll and go back to the cubby hole . The courses were just as dull as the teachers. Thanks so much for your fine work I have learned through entire process. I am a pipe welder by trade and at the start of my working days was lucky enough to encounter another person such as you who was willing to give lessons in a technique that is jealously kept. Keep on keeping

  • Very nice! If you don't mind me asking, what medium are you using for your glazes?

  • I just use paint thinner. then i apply a thin coat ot Damar retouch varnish after the glazes are dry. thanks for watching!

  • If by paint thinner you mean mineral spirits or turps...Wouldn't that be breaking the 'fat over lean' rule?

  • It would be if my ground layers were thick with pure color, but they're very thin and mixed with a lot of alkyd white, so they dry very fast. At any rate I've never had any problems with skinning or cracking.

  • well done! thank you so much for your video. Tomorrow I will be in holiday, when i will be back to work I will look immediately at next video... I can't wait....

  • wow! that looks great, yet another master piece
