They made an ice bullet full of microscopic gas bubbles and they pulled it out of the mold from the damn casing and gave up on ice because it broke. Blue ice, found in glaciers, has no bubbles, and can be as strong as steal, but much more brittle. This episode once again proved, "It can't be done, because we're not competent enough to do it correctly.", much like most of the other episodes of MythBusters.

Did they try mercury. mercury only becomes solid at temperatures below 37.89 degrees Fahrenheit. you may have to cool the gun.

@samten10a did you even watch the show ? no they didn't try mercury... that doesn't even fit in with the myth of there being no traces left from the bullet. and how would a sniper cool his gun ? didn't they mention that if the gunpowder and pretty much the rest of the casing were cooled too much that they wouldn't even function ? not sure what you were thinkin' there.

I think if they made the bullet out of a mixture of oils that it would produce the necessary effect, since solid oil is pretty much a rock, but it melts pretty fast.

The ice bullet might not work in a propellant fired gun - BUT they should of used it in their airgun umbrellas and it would definately work IMO
