my boyfriend is a marine and probly goin 2 iraq next summer =( he leaves for basic in dec or the end of nov and we watched this movie it was great but tore me up
oh i am srry i feel so bad i think that i am going to cry cuz i dont think that i could have a boyfiend in the army and getting ready to go to iraq i would cry all the tim but if i love my boyfirend then i guess i would just deal with it but i send my heart out to you and your family and his family
Awesome trailer. The movie was great. Joe, Channing, Ryan, Abbie and Victor all gave top notch performances and this trailer really conveys what the movie feels like.
Even without the gratuitous shirtless Ryan Phillippe shots I would have bought a ticket but lets be honest there can never be too much scantily clad Ryan in any movie or any trailer.
This is definitely an interesting alternative trailer that likely would appeal to men better than the studio's. Given how audiences avoid anything but fluff, this is a tough marketing problem.
I notice someone said it's pro soldier. I didn't see it as pro anything. It's hard for anyone who hasn't done it to truly understand enlistment decisions. But it's VERY effective in making you empathize with soldiers in a non-fetish sort of way. I love the film and have seen it multiple times.
What I love about this movie is that it avoids the politics of the war. It's neither pro nor anti war. This is just a story about the soldiers, and that's it. For those who watch it and believe there is some left wing/right wing agenda behind it, then you weren't paying attention and/or already had yourself turned off to it. This movie is pro-soldier, simple as that.
Nice try, but no cigar. The back half is decent. The first half is like a recruitment video for the Marines. The interesting issue of the movie isn't what happened to these vets because it's been happening for decades. PTSD is nothign new either. What is interesting is the stop-loss measure. It's something that's never been talked about before. Now, I understand the studio trailer sucks, but honestly, this one is no better. I do like the stills and the Peal Jam track, but that's it.
You haven't had your acts together in years and this video is a good example. Original trailer, no desire to see movie. None of my vet friends wanted to see it either. This trailer would make me want to see it. It doesn't come across as an episode of some teenage soldier reality show (Real World Basra)like it does in the first trailer.
Why are people giving GrownupPhan thumbs down? S/He has a valid point. I think if it were promoted better, it wouldn't have tanked in the box office. This movie was too good and too powerful to not be seen by many.
Not only is Joe Levitt on of the best actors of his generation, but it looks like he has vision too. Good stuff Joe. The film didn't really appeal to me, but this cut of the trailer changes my opinion.
I was on the fence about this one, being a vet. I was already interested in this movie, the stars, director, and subject matter are all great, this new trailer convinced me to see this movie, thx Joe Levitt.
This trailer does it's job. It took a movie I didn't really want to see and made it seem more like the kind of movie I would. The trailer itself isn't edited very well though. I can't complain Joseph Gordon Levitt is a really good actor and he did this not because he thinks himself an editor, but because he felt if needed to be done. In the end, people who make trailers get paid well because it's a complex job of nailing the mood of the piece while making it seem exciting, this went too long IMO
I like this trailer much better than the "official" Paramount trailer. Having now seen the movie it more acurately portrays the content and mood of the movie overall. Joseph should get into directing himself!
Maybe it's because this trailer wasn't professionally edited but I felt it ran on forever, it didn't tell us what the movie was about and revealed major plot points.
Did it not occur to producers that many teenage girls are thoughtful and deep enough to want to see this film without the benefit of seeing Ryan Philippe with his shirt off?
THIS certainly should have been the trailer--Saw Stop-Loss today--I liked it a lot-while the ending is not what I wanted to see I understand - I am tired of watching men & women lose their lives, suffer terrible wounds-inside & out, know families are being destroyed-I cried a few times while watching--especially when Brandon talked to Preacher's parents.....ENOUGH.
This should have been the real trailer - not the one that is geared toward teenage girls, which is retarded by the way. Although the Channing lover below me is completely clueless so I guess the marketing team did a good job in that respect.
I want to see this movie. Boys don't cry is such a great and moving film that I wouldn't miss this one for the world. The only thing that worries me is that in an effort to be so pro-soldier they might fall into this idea of American lives being more precious and important than Iraqui lives. I'll watch it regardless.

Seconded, although it looks like the show "Over There".
However, I think I'd rather wait to see them in "G.I. Joe". :D

i like this trailer better. it feels like more like real life then the other trailer which uses a lot of trailer cliches.
