@Cloudfan174 Judging from your nick, you are a fellow Final Fantasy 7 lover;)
As for monsters and challenges... monster designs are the first thing I look at in a game, apart from characters and story (but they need time to develop, so monster designs say more about the quality of the game) and I hate it when I wait for cool monsters to appear and the designers go cheap and throw in jellys, animate clouds, shadows, animate lightning bolts (FF X) and other undefined, blurry, detailless beasts.
@Cloudfan174 I see your point. I once saw nude statues and decorations in Castlevania and then watched the playthrough to see them all. Haha, but of course, the levels in Wizards and Warriors had no such things (almost), but still, the levels were creative and fun to explore and non-repetetive, convenient to exit.
Maybe it's not important to you, but maybe you haven't thought about it. Imagine a great scenery, but silly, lousy designed monsters. Wouldn't it ruin the impression, ambience?
maybe. but i remember some monsters in ff7, they were just floating cans that could open their mouths and a smaller one came out, that wasnt very cool. and i include monsters/races in the overall world, so i want everything to look cool. some examples of awesome worlds can be found in ivalice (ff12), Azeroth (WoW), and god of war
Please tell me... there are four skill slots. Why do you use only first aid?

...wish it had been that easy for me.

yes i love the compilation :D for me, monsters aren't as important as scenery, the element that attracts me is level design =D
