your video is amazing, you can't believe how much I loved it, and I adore portrait of a marriage, it's one of a kind series. Thanks again my friend, I hope we can see similar videos soon.
There's a letter wher Violet explain the Peer Gynt to Vita, how she trembled listening to the very first execution of this opera. This video is amazing, moving, elegant.... I've said it when I was AuroraDeVenessia, I say it know. W-O-W
Exactly who were these two women? I heard about them in one of the Books by Dominick Dunne which was about a Kennedy-esque Family and they were mentioned.
A wonderful tribute to Vita Sackville-West & Violet Keppel/Trefusis.
Thanks for posting this video!
The book is also a wonderful documentation of their love. The relationship among these two belongs to the biggest "Love Stories" in (European) culture history.
Did you read the book "Violet to Vita"? A collection of Violet's letters to Vita between 1910-1921.
Thanks so much for the video... I remember watching this on TV some 15 or so years ago, and to rediscover it with this fine music felt pretty powerful. Have just ordered the DVD off amazon... an amazing mini-series (it left an impression on a young 22 year old back then!). Thank you...
God, I've always wanted to fine good opera but I'm never sure where to look. Thanks for helping me to find some. Exactly what is the song called, so I can try to download it.
Glad you like it :)! The song is called Solveig's Song and this version was performed by Barbara Hendricks and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra - it's from the Peer Gynt suites (op. 23 no. 19).
Thank you for the info, MrsD. It *is* a beautiful version. I also found a good version by Lucia Popp on YouTube, but I agree in liking this one much better.
oh, sweet doomed modernist romances...impeccably precise soundscore...vielen dank, mrsdoodykins...you're a netherworld deejay

I like the music. I thought this was a not movie back in the day, but just now I thought the blond woman looked like Ethel Mertz.

That is a very nice version too! I don't like the german translation, but thats a very subjective point of view. I like the original lines best :).
