  • Why does everyone even care? Avant is now probably the single best Slot receiver in the game now

  • Sorry, but the OFFICIAL 2005 NCAA FOOTBALL RULE BOOK says this is a catch.

"To catch, intercept or recover a ball, a player who leaves his feet to make

a catch, interception or recovery must have the ball in his possession

when he first returns to the ground inbounds with any part of his body"

His toes are "any part" and came down in bounds FIRST. In fact an example the official NCAA book uses is a player dragging his toes in bounds as he heads out of bounds. Same thing different direction.

  • @michiganmoon You're wrong dude. They just didn't "add" the rule. It was interpreted wrong by those lousy Michigan officials. You can drag your toes if no other part of your foot comes down in one single motion, which is what happened in this game. It was incomplete. I know my stuff and have done lots of research on this particular play for other things. And the "different direction" you are referring to is the exact thing that makes this play incomplete. Again, I know for a fact as Ive talked

  • @NittanyNation22

I know a head ref in the BigTen personally, so don't feed me your line of lies, it won't work on me. In 2005 the rule book interpretation is that Avant made a catch. However, the rulebook did not consider the scenario for that style of a catch and they changed the rule book to clarify for that specific situation. However, as it was, the 2005 rule book clearly defined Avant as in bounds by first body part in. The NCAA rules committee had a long discussion on this change.

  • @michiganmoon to many different collegiate officials on it.

  • I wish this was HD so I could see it better. I'm not sure his heel ever hit the ground. It's damn close though. I want to fill my basement with you Penn State fans. I always wanted a whine cellar

  • Page 216 of the rule book

    (a) clearly drags the ground inbounds before he falls out of bounds; (b) touches the ground inbounds and then his heel comes down on the sideline in a continuous motion. He maintains firm control of the ball in both cases. RULING: (a) Complete pass. (b) Incomplete pass. The continuous toe-heel touching is part of a single process and by interpretation he has landed out of bounds, thus not executing a catch.

  • @NittanyNation22 u mad

  • @ajm21582 Nope, just showing proof.

  • @NittanyNation22 Why don't you show proof of the Penn State pass that clearly bounces off the ground before the diving PSU WR catches it? That was a drive saving 3rd and long catch that led to a TD for the Nittany Lions. Why don't you bring it up? Because it doesn't fit your cry baby agenda? Grow up. You lost fair and square and had blown calls in your favor.

  • @NittanyNation22 Sorry, but that is not the 2005 rule book. This game happened in 2005 where it was legal. You can't apply 2010 rules changes backwards in time for your whining convenience. It doesn't work that way.

  • @NittanyNation22 page 216 of the 2010 rule book says that. The 2005 rule book did NOT say that. The rules committee realized that the in bounds rule was too open and changed the rules in more recent years.

You can not quote rulebooks for different years - because the rules have changed since 2005.

It is dishonest to do so. You have a hollow argument.

  • avant is one of the most underrated receivers to this day...he's tough, physical, willing to take a hit, great hands, smart player, good blocker, decent speed, plays with a lot of heart, dedicated...need i go on? :)

just ordered an authentic custom kelly green jersey of his!! holla

  • Awarness people!!!! Jason realized his heel was about to touch then he lifted it just in time... thats why he landed akwardly... that my friend is why jason is a great WR

  • I thought in college you had to have one foot in bounds. Apparently you just need one toe when you're Michigan. Fuck Michigan. They're the joke of the league anyway, with their 189lb LBs lol. This isn't the Big East idiots!!!

  • Hey, Nittany Whiners:

you still lost the game, deal with it.

    Go Blue!

  • YOU MICHIGAN FANS ARE IDIOTS. The rules clearly that a "toe to heel" catch is a continuous process and that the "whole foot" must be in-bounds.

Now if his toe was dragging, which IT WASNT, then it would have been a catch.

Once again, the scumbags got another call from the referines.

  • i'm not sure if his heel even hit the ground. the way his whole leg springs up as he's falling back makes it appear he was consciously trying to just tap his toe on the ground as he came down.

  • oh my gosh are we really arguing this...i have to lower my standards just to do so but OF COURSE ITS A CATCH. his toes were in, thats all you need.

  • you idiots don't know the rule.

if the toe is in bounds and the heel is out of bounds, the whole foot is out of bounds.

    no catch.

  • Toe then heel...

Where's the controversy? Clearly a catch!

  • that doesnt matter. his heel was out. its not "Oh his heel hit later" that would be dumb. it was a bad call

  • he was out of bounds penn state was cheated

  • Naw he was inbounds, just barely. had possession of the ball when it "toes: touched, then his heal touch out of bounds. So its a catch, Michigan wins!

  • his heel was on the line. u dont no wat ur talking about

  • Yeah his heel was on the line, but look closer. In the air he catches the play, then he touches his TOE to the ground first, then his heel touches the line. So looks like you dont know what your talking about.

  • His toe was inbounds (with the ball in possession) then his heel touch's out. Making it a catch. Idiot.

  • no one is saying he didn't have possession, of course he did.

but for the last time you cannot say it was a catch if half of his foot was inbounds and half of his foot was out of bounds.

  • Please reread my previous comment. His toes inbounds first! Then his heel touched out, second. So, half his foot was in (toes) BEFORE his heel touched out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what don't you understand? that cannot happen in order to be a complete pass. if any part of his foot is out of bounds, even for just a split second, he is out of bounds. it's not a before/after thing. look at 0:28, for a split second (which is all you need to find indisputable evidence) his entire foot is on the ground but half of it is inbounds and half is out of bounds. so since part of his foot is out of bounds, he is out of bounds entirely therefore it should be incomplete

  • did michigan win?????

  • they won
