  • I didn't need to watch in high quality. IT was perfect with out it. You have the best description and links on your videos. Thank you. I have checked some of them out.

  • Cool! I'm glad you did! The amphibian decline topic was an afterthough, to tell you the truth, but it occurred to me that this would be a good opportunity to include a link about it. Then one of my other subs commented about going to the link, so I decided to add more. :)

  • Delightful as usual, Betty!

  • Thank you Andy! This message, "Take only footprints; leave only memories," is so important to me to say at least once on You Tube. The best people on the planet have seen it, so I am happy. :)

  • LOL I think you may have your take and leave reversed but I'll forgive you... :)

  • There ya go! I left my memory on some nature trail. Maybe this is why the National Park Service keeps "losing" my resume. HA!

  • Keep on plugging, Hun...

  • Wonderful video!

  • Thank you NaturalTwentyFilms! Thanks so much for watching. :)

  • This should be called "peace" - ahhh...so lovely, the music and nature sounds are so calming and beautiful!!! Thanks for this (((Kalakaw)))

  • Oh my God! Sisteroonie! How are you? Yeah, "Peace would have been a good title." I hope you're at peace. Hugs back. :)

  • High quality is good. Wonderful, thought provoking vid Betty. Cheers, Lesley

  • Thanks Lesley. I lived by this when I was living on nature trails. Cheers! :)

  • That was some great work... If I can just say 1 thing.. maybe you could have let the videos run maybe twice as long before the transitions.. I found myself only just starting to take in what was on screen and it was changing to the next screenshot... But still a 5* rating.. Thankyou...

  • Hi DahCraw. First, thank you for subbing to me! Second, I'm delighted to have constructive criticism, so thank you for that too. I had deliberately spaced the transitions because I wanted a short video, but didn't realize it was having that effect. I'm very grateful for advice that will help me improve. :)

  • You probably shouldn't listen to too much I have to say about Youtube Vids.. I am only a newbie... and I don't know what makes good YouTube viewing... but I know what I like...

  • I absolutely want to know what you like. That's what it's all about and your advice is valuable to me. :)

  • This is a Great Video...

  • I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching. :)

  • Betty.. It's just me again.. Have sent you a PM.. :)

  • Thanks for this video and for linking Eric Blehm book 'The last season' it is well worth reading. It shows what a backcountry Ranger was dedicated to protecting. Aloha!

  • Rick, it was entirely my pleasure. I'm very happy to know about this book, but please forgive me for misspelling his name in my previous comment. :)

  • so sweet i love it all! 5 stars !lol jim!

    thank Kalacaw!

  • Jim, thanks for watching! I'm so glad you liked it. :)

  • Wow. I've never heard frogs before. We mostly have toads here. :)

  • Hi Ash! I'm from the city, so living in more rural climes has been a marvelous learning experience in terms of nature observation in my own back yard. I think I've identified three species of frogs at my pond; Gray Treefrog, Northern Spring Peeper, and Green Frog, but I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. :)

  • Oh cool!!! :D

  • Great vid, lovely pictures, but what I liked most was the sound. I'm jes' a country boy, and them calls are music to my ears. I'll take a look at the links, and investigate this further. Thanks for the concern. Jeff

  • Thanks Jeff! I took the footage and photos in Front Royal and Fredericksburg, Virginia. The frogs you hear at the end of the video live around the pond in my front yard. I love hearing them! Since you mentioned the links, I took the liberty of adding a few you might find of interest. I must confess that I wasn't thinking of the global amphibian decline issue when I uploaded this video. I added that link as an afterthought. Thank you for watching this!

  • Hi Betty - im still alive - have been whitout internet for a month - ill soon contact you sister

  • Oh my God, my bro!!! I have been so worried about you! AND, guess what else? I finally found the peanut butter I was looking for! I found two different kinds, and got them both. I just have to get this in the mail. Give Inge and the children Tante Bette's love. :)

  • Love it.

    Frank

  • Thanks Frank! The link to the story about global amphibian declines is an afterthought. I just wanted to present a simple message in the video. :)

  • Betty, growing up near the Gulf of Mexico as a child we would play with "horney toads." There are none now. NONE! What's that all about?

Thank you for making this video.

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • Mimi, your comment is the third of it's kind here, and I suspect that many more You Tubers can report the same observation. I'm so sorry. Thanks for watching, and hugs back to you, dear Mimi.

  • Betty, that was a big part of the fond memories I had as a child. Playing outside with my friends and catching these harmless little creatures. It makes me cry to think that so much has happened to our earth. Some are in denial. I don't understand it!

    ~Peace

  • Peace always Mimi. I think the way we talk about various environmental issues plays a big role in the way our messages are received. This is a thing that does concern me. So often, I think, people are angry about environmental problems, and justifiably so. Our message has to be delivered with a kind heart and caring for the person or persons we're trying to reach, however. It's a hard thing to do though, when we know what we know, and see what we see. :)

  • Betty, love the sound the water makes in the river and the birds at the end.

Hope you're having a great week

  • Brenda, I love those sounds too. I am having a great week and I hope you are too. You're in my heart today, Brenda. :)

  • Beautiful. A moment for pause, and reflection. What would we be without this natural beauty? Nothing...

Back in the 60s, that saying was basic law in the NSS, applied to our mountaineering and cave explorations. "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." It was akin to a sacred vow for us then.

  • Oh Moosie, what a beautiful comment. Thank you. I've tried to live by that maxim, and i've cringed when I've seen others ignore such a simple-to-follow tenet. Once you've taken this to heart, it's never the same. You never see the nature around you in the same way. :)

Moosie, you're a blessing to me. If I've never told you that before, I'm sorry.

  • Thanks. :-) I do believe it becomes a part of you. Such a simple concept, yet it causes you to view nature with the respect it deserves. Once you have it, you never lose it.

  • That was lovely Betty.

  • Hi Maureen! Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed this. :)

  • Very well done five stars!

  • Jer, you are so kind. Thank you for watching and for all those lovely stars. :)

  • Very Beautiful Thanks!*****Duke

  • Duke, thank you so much for watching! I'm delighted that you enjoyed this. :)

  • Leave only footprints...what a great saying. Beautiful video and message. LOVED IT!

  • Hello my dear, and how are you this lovely day? I'm glad you enjoyed. There was a time, about a decade ago, when a non-raining weekend morning didn't see me without my binoculars on some birding path. :)

  • I am constantly serenaded by tree frogs all through February where I live. They are usually hanging out by the lake during that time. When they stop, i have to be sure to move slowly with the lawn mower to give them a chance to get out of the way. I see at least 10 of them on any given day.

I have, however, not seen any of the larger aquatic frogs that I am used to seeing in the last two years. But I do hear bullfrogs. They may be part of the problem. They are not native here.

  • Robert, you hit one nail directly on the head. Non-native bullfrogs are listed as a contributing factor, and yours is the second comment on this video thus far which constitutes anecdodal data. HazyFirefighter69mentioned his notice of lessening numbers of the Green tree frog in Australia. So sad. Thank you for watching, Robert.

  • CHeers!

  • Huey/Jake/Larry! How are you this fine day? I hope life is treating you well! Cheers back! :)

  • Treating me better then prolly deserved. Currently suffring from some major jet-lag though.

    Huey

  • You deserve the best Huey. Jet lag be gone, ye foul demon!

It has been written; it shall be done. ;-)

  • great video Betty! fabulous chorus there. :)

  • Good morning Lesley! Oh, well ... it's morning here. If it's morning here, it's morning everywhere. HAHA! My neighbor and I have tried in the past to have conversations near my pond in the evening, but we've ended up laughing because it's impossible to hear each other over the din. :D

  • very beautiful.

  • Hi Karen! Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed this! :)

  • What a lovely video to see this morning Betty:) 5*****

  • Thank you Jane! I hope you're having a lovely day! Sometimes, with some videos, I have a good laugh in the editing room, and then there are editing moments like this. :)

  • Beautiful Video Betty, I can tell you from my point of view that there is a decline locally here (Australia). As a child I use to see the Green Tree Frog all the time in this area, nowdays you hardly ever see them, I can count on both my hands the amount of frogs I've seen in the last 5 to 10 years. So yes I believe there is a decline. Again beautiful video Betty.

  • Thanks Jason! I wish you were wrong and I know you wish the same. Sadly, Australia is citied as a region of notable decline. I'm so sorry. I want your children's children to have the same experiences with nature that you had as a child. :(

Thank you for the kind compliment. You're the best Jason.

  • Hi! U-tube sucks lol. I wrote a nice reply but it went to internet heaven i guess. Need to keep this short. Great Video you live in a great place! If you enjoy reading novels you may like a author/friend of mines book I just finished. His inscription when I had him autograph it is so true: "Walk slowly, tread lightly and slow to smell the wildflowers". His book is 'The Last Season' by; Eric Blehm. It's a true story about a Backcountry Ranger. Hope all is well. Aloha!

  • Hi Rick! Oddly enough, the same thing just happened to me. All the best work is lost to cyberspace. Ha! I found Eric Biehm's website for this book, and I'll put that link in the description. I am interested, and thanks very much for sharing this information. All is indeed well, and I hope the same for you. Aloha!

  • I just realized that you favorited my vid. Thank you Rick!!! You are so thoughtful, my friend. Aloha! :)

  • ;) :) !

  • There's no decline in amphibians locally.. counted over 8 frogs in a very small area the other day, as I was walking back home through the rain.. :) But I do understand the purpose and the meaning behind this beautiful video.. |:)

  • Thanks Rob. The racket you're hearing at the end of the video is a nightly event at the pond in my front yard. There's no discernible decline there either. ;-)
