I'm 54 years old, and my father has always said that The Beatles and Bob Dylan ruined music. He says before them, lyrics weren't so serious; they were well crafted (Gershwin, Porter et al) but they weren't so serious. I kind of see his point now that I'm older. Music that is not so serious brings people together more; its more accessible to more people. The serious stuff is good, but I think it tends to break people up into seperate groups.
@gcahn2 Don MacCean's American Pie was lamenting the loss of innocence in music, first, when BHolly died, but then first Dylan, then The Beatles, and then it was all lost when The Stones at Altimont took music into diabolic territories, and we've been lost ever since. Music first lost its innocence , then its soul.
@gcahn2 You're so right. 69 was when it lost its innocence, and it died completely in the mid eighties. Not to say that there was't some incredible music in the seventies - Led Zep is my favourite band, and Floyd and Queen aren't too shabby either - but it would be a total lie to say that hard rock especially had the innocence of Holly, Berry, Haley or the Beatles.
i sadly wasn't born to ever hear dylan live in his younger years, not all of us young people have forgotten the classic music that existed before our time. - 17year old from texas.
@agonzales1133 Well I'm a 53 year old man from Michigan who has seen Dylan live many times, starting in 1974. And if I could trade it all to be a 17 year old from Texas I'd do it in a New York minute,
@fguka hey are you really seventeen? it is no matter anyway because l love your "uncontrollable goosebumps" . l get those oftentimes, esp when l see oil and gas emerging like insane magma from a hole in the tube
@frenchexperience not sure if you're being sarcastic man. but i didn't say i was 17 cus i wanted to seem like a fucking kid who likes good music. i hate when kids do that. i said 17 cus i don't really see any 17 year olds getting all girly for a song haha
When I was a kid I had a toy yellow volkswagon van with a snap out folding central door that I loved more than else anything in the world. I've loved this album for as long as I can remember and usually never see past the catatonic love on this iconic album cover portrayed by Bob and Suze. And tonight after 30 years for the first time ever, I've just spotted the Volkswagon.
dylan cant sing hahahah thats a really funny joke, stupid people that say that have probably only heard like two of his songs, he never sings off key once and this song is a prime example. absolutely perfect song thanks dylan
@TomThumbsBlues1965 i think people judge his voice itself more so but i say it perfectly fits the folky genre and that people who think otherwise should have their heads examined.
I think this is the song I've been looking for about a year... I think it was this one atleast. Heard it on xm radio when I was driving and they never announced the title. All I remember was that it was early Bob, possibly not on any album, and about a girl.
It doesn't get any better than this. Sublime.

@TomThumbsBlues1965 absolutely true but by Blonde On Blonde is where he sounds like hes trying to sing badly. not saying that it doesn't work.
