On my 1st post I meant to say coconut is rich in potassium, not magnesium, and Zico is the only brand independently tested to contain what it says in terms of electrolyte minerals.
If you can afford it find a holistic doc or naturopath in Portland who will do a Metametrix 2100 GI Function Profile stool test. It's a DNA analysis of pretty much anything in your GI tract that might be hiding. Standard scope test for celiac is mostly useless unless there is nearly total small intestine destruction. THE only reliable way to assess is to go absolutely gluten free for 3 weeks and see if the symptoms go. You didn't say exactly what you were doing the days before the initial onset.
1. what is your blood pressure? I assume it is low (under 100/70). Multiple times to bathroom = very low on electrolytes. Make yourself a replenishing drink with 1 cup water, 1 tsp honey (for some glucose), 1/4-1/2 tsp of both baking soda & salt. Drink with 1/2 banana for potassium + 2 oz of almonds for magnesium. Better yet get coconut water (rich in magnesium) and add the salt and baking soda to it and have the almonds. Also do go gluten free and get tested for Lymes.
Autonomic nervous system dysfunction perhaps. Dysaustonomia can manifest with GI problems (can be severe), mitral valve prolapse, orthostatic hypotension (the feeling light-headed upon standing or even passing out), and severe fatigue.
I think you should focus on your worse symptom and find a specialist in that area. People get lost in the medical system because they don't go to the correct specialty to begin with. An environmental doctor or osteopath(whole mind-body) might be helpful because they have different training from a regular doctor. A.D.A.M. is a symptom finder online program. It may be helpful. Mayo Clinic and Web MD are great resources too. Good luck.
I'm negative for Celiac, but have acute gluten intolerance - which caused a lot of the same symptoms as you. Have you tried a gluten-free diet to see what happens? It's worth trying for a few weeks. Also, please be tested for Lyme disease - it's a silent killer. And, have you tried a well-respected naturopath? It's worth it to find some more answers.

I have the same problems as you. I've had them for almost 2 years now. I'm now seeing Stephen at Asula Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Portland, OR that have given me some new found hope. I have whats called Yang Deficiency. Google it and also Google the diet recommendations. I'm starting the simple diet they recommend since it can't hurt and I've tried everything else. I would STRONGLY recommend looking it this for yourself. If your anything like me your desperate for answers too.
TeStINg FoR parasites may not have yielded one that I have recently been monitoring. My wife has been sick for 3 weeks with lots of the same symptoms, and another friend of ours has been sick for more than 6 weeks.
In our research and seeing your from the Oregon area...PLEASE check to see if it it lyme disease. There are lots of unexplained sicknesses that the dr's cannot explain...the test for lyme disease is going to be a fight...get a good doctor. Best of luck....let us know how it goes.
Have you been checked for lymphocytic (microscopic) colitis? It has to be diagnosed through a biopsy during a colonoscopy.. I was fortunate my doctor recognized the symtoms...most don't even know about it. Good luck -
my son had same symptoms for 1 1/2yrs stool samples ok, blood work ok, etc. Till he finally met a GI specialist who said he had gastro parisis which was caused from a bacteria called giardia from contaminated food or water (fecal matter)Giardia makes you extremely sick for a period of time it then leaves your system but paralizes your stomach. All food sits longer in stomach. No fried, fats or dairy.Eat High fibers, soya milk and take donperidone pills 1/2 before eating
stop eating wheat! Just try it for a week and see what happens, don't worry if the result came back negative for ciliacs, just try it and see if it works.
not a dr but have you been tested for cystic fibrosis its a sweat test and it is something your born with but sometimes wont show symptoms until your older good luck and like i said just would like to try and help
my dad had simular symptoms, it was staph in his colon, took forever for them to find it, even though you'd think they'd know staph infections when they see it
It sounds like a classic case of Arsenic poisoning. If that is the case a simple blood test may not show it, you would need to have your hair tested for past and/or long tern exposure which can come from many places that you may not even suspect. Good luck.
I wish he would respond to these questions. I am curious to whether he has been tested for Ciliacs Disease. He has the exact symptoms to the "T" that my dad had. Took docs a year to figure out what it was. MANY doctors still have no clue what it is. I bet if he gets on a Gluten free diet he would feel better and regain the weight.
I'm no Dr but t could be an imbalance of bacteria in your digestive track. I saw something on tv about a woman with similar symptoms and they had to give her a stool transplant(believe it or not).
have you been checked for firbrmialgia or lupus disease that would make you very weak and affect your breathing also and very fatigued...is your immune system broke down, or have you been tested for C-diffisul i would ask if you have not been tested for those. wish you best and hope you get well real soon.
Justin,Have you been on the Gulf Coast at all since April 2010?Have you been to the beach in Texas,Louisiana,Mississippi,Alabama or Florida since April 2010?Many people here are very ill from chemical exposure,If you have been in these areas plz consider contacting Dr.Wilma Supra at LEAN..org. I seen an article about you on HLN news!!Prayers that you will find help soon!!!
with you being malnourished being dizzy is going to happen, as a side effect. Kiddo I am at a loss but I wish you the best. Sounds to me like your digestive tract is so irritated perhaps you don't have the right balance of bacteria/ enzymes. Unfotuneatly most doctors only get a couple weeks of nutritional training. I suggest also seeing a nutriionist. You have got to get some energy in your body or you are going to waste away
Justen i know how u feel. I had a mystery illness for over 5 years. I learnt to read my own blood work, test results.reports and started googling everything. When i came across a very rare genetic disease,i presented this to my doc who said it was imposibble its to rare. We went to the mayo clinic in Rochester, and i was diagnosed with the exact rare disease i thought i had.Have you seen an oncologist to search for lymphomas/cancers.Is there an email we can contact you?i feel the need to help!
I am so sorry u r going thru this.I have Crohns Disease. Have had it 4 about 6 years.I am over 40.It took a long time and several doctors before I was diagnosed correctly.I knew from looking symptoms up and family history that is what I had. I think sometimes it can take awhile 4 it to show up as Crohns or Ulcerative Colitis - both very similar. I think your diziness could b due to loss of blood/food not staying w/u. If u want my docs name. he's in Ptlnd, send me a msg. Wish u the best.
Justen, have your doctor make you a concoction of paragoric/opium . Pharmacy can make this for you. I seen your plea on Fox news tonight. I had the same thing happen to me and doctors couldn't find out what was wrong with me. Finally I got a old country doctor who had the pharmacy make this concoction of paragoric/opium mixture. It worked. Within a week or so all symptoms were gone and I was well again. Do try it.
@ilovemacandcheese You sir, need to go roast in hell where you belong. If you aren't here to help out, then don't come here at all, and go watch your my little ponies videos.
You all need to look up MMS by jim humble a scientist. it helped my daughter who had the same symptoms exactly and was sick for over 7 months.Had all the same tests and was ready to give up and just die. She is 32. Its been around sense 2000 and been used around the world. Not FDA approved because it takes a long time here in the US. But you can do your research and decide for your selves. day 2 she felt good day 5 she felt great. Its a blessing. Good luck to all and look up MMS by JIM HUMBLE
I've started preparing all my own food because I thought it might help to eat more whole foods and unprocessed things. It hasn't helped at all, but it keeps me busy and isn't too physically taxing.
Like you my symptoms have changed over time, where in the beginning I wasn't in too much pain, now I experience varying levels of pain and stomach cramps nearly every hour.
Please let me know if you find out anything, I know you understand how difficult it is to
Hey Justen my name is Joshua and I have the same symptoms as you. I've had my condition for over a year, (I'm 19), and I'm still undiagnosed. I've had blood tests, stool tests, a colonoscopy and endoscopy. When it first started I lost nearly 20 pounds in about two months and I have yet to gain it back. Like you I'm extremely fatigued and feel weak.
I recently lost my job because of my illness, it was very physically demanding and I couldn't keep up. I also noticed that the exercise made my
As a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, I have offered more than once to see Justen and he has turned me down without even taking a look at how I might be able to help him.. Out of the dozen doctors seen, how many have been Oriental Medical Doctors or TCM practitioners? Do you realize that TCM is complementary to Western medicine because it is effective on a whole different level?
I seen this on the news last night. I'm also 24 and having the same symptoms, everything but the fatigue and no problems with my bowels. In the past 2 years I've lost over 35 pounds without diet or excercise. I was always over weight my whole life until now. I was hospitalized for gastroenitis* as well.
@Kinson420 I have been tested a few diffrent times and the labs never follow protocal on not exposing to light and here in Oregon we don't have much natural light this time of year. I just thought I would throw it out there for him because Doctors don't usally think of porphyria.
Justin, I hope that A REAL DOCTOR, and not just people with their opinions, answer this because my son has this too. He is really tired of it also. He too has been tested for a lot of different things and tried different things. I will add you to my prayer list to pray for you along with my son with this issue. I am sorry you both have this.
Justin, check into Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome with having Fibromyalgia at the same time, it's what I was diagnosed with after many years of no diagnosis and misdiagnosises.
@jessidecker81 easiest way to diagnose possible porphyria is urine test in a cup left in natural sunlight. If it turns purple then you may have porphyria
Check your adrenals via Saliva test if you have not already. Find a naturopath that specializes in Adrenal Fatigue or Adrenal Failure. (This might have already been suggested) You could have a parasite also, that does not show up on regular stool tests. Good luck! I know the frustration of having a mystery illness.
---Suggestion:Show on video complete list of what you ruled out-------
Could you show a copy of all your medical records or info with issues you ruled out and hold it up to the camera for around 5 seconds for each page, and also your dietary/excersise exposure history before and after the 17month start. You could blackout any personal information on what you show, then someone could hit the pause button on each page and get a quick assesment. IwillContinueMyMessageWithaDirectMessageViaYtube.
HI Justen, If you believe in Jesus the savior,he is Yahweh Rapha, as the Bible says
I am the God that healeth thee.
I am the lord your healer.
I sent My word and I healed your disease.
I am the lord your healer
With his blood we are healed, just need faith of a mustard seed. Ask and ye shall receive. Nothing is impossible for Jesus, nothing too big or too small. Amen & Amen
Usually associated with lungs, but often affects multiple organs and is nearly impossible to diagnose. The site 'stopsarcoidosis, org' has good examples under symptoms. With all the weight loss, have they done a bone marrow biopsy? Good Luck.
If I were you I would be retested for chrons disease. I have chrons and when I first became sick with it I had low white cell count and the doctor thought I might of had leukemia. I also had painfull stomach aches and became anemic at one point. again I am not saying that this is what you have, i am not a doctor, nor do i know 100% what you have... its just a suggestion from a concerned person.
First of all, I'm not a doctor. I saw you on the news and wanted to respond. On the surface I would say you have Crohn's Disease. My dad has suffered for many years and his symptoms match exactly what you have experienced--blood in stool, massive weight loss, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, etc.
But if you don't have inflammation, that kind of rules that out. Have you got a second opinion to rule this out? My dad went to a great doctor in Seattle, Washington. His name is David Buscher....
I am a CMA at a Naturopathic office in Seattle, WA. Dr. Marina Abrams specializes in issues with the gut. Please contact our office, 206-283-1383 and ask for Karen (she is our clinic coordinator) all the best to you and we hope to hear from you soon!!
I twittered to both Dr. OZ& IDF or Immune Deficiencies Foundation & shared on FB. (I am livingtosing on Twitter). Oh, you could do a FB group. Diagnosing autoimmune conditions with a primary immune disorder is tricky. I don't recall you saying anything about pain? Hope you find help.
The last person also took an antibiotic in that family and became very ill; it was first noticed nearly 6 months later, and after about 9 more months they became sick with a mystery illness. THis person was tested nearly like you as the mystery went on. Finally four months later or so, an endocrinologist, Dr. George Moore in Kirkland, WA figured it out; he had mono and strep. Never had the sore throat. It took two more years until he was fully back to normal.
I am also not a medical doctor. Your symptoms do sound like an autoimmune disorder as others have suggested here. Have you considered getting a comprehensive genetic screening done? We recently discovered that the source of my dad's illness was hemochromatosis (high iron) through a genetic screening. You've likely ruled out alot of things from family history and many diseases like Crohns are not well characterized genetically but genetic screening may help rule out a few more things. Good luck!
Chronic lead exposure may cause the following symptoms.
General physical symptoms in children and adults (usually seen when lead poisoning levels are severe) Stomachaches, cramping, constipation, or diarrhea Nausea, vomiting Persistent, unexplained fatigue Headache Muscle weakness
Good chance of Crohns disease. What you describe sounds like what I went through...restroom use every 15-20 minutes...extreme exhaustion. I would ask about Crohns.
@DearCitizenTv A while...they misdiagnosed me with ulcerative colitus and the medicine they gave me for it didn't help at all. I was down to skin a bones and in real bad shape before someone finally realized i have crohns instead. had to be on 42 pills a day for a couple months just to get back to a healthy state.
Well,...It sounds like it could be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome aka ME/myalgic encephalomyelitis and myalgic encephalopathy and or Fibromyalgia. Have they done colon scopes? I am going to forward some info on both to you and to his Youtube. I write on Fibro and CFS, I have a Oregon group on FB. I am from the Pacific NW and am familiar with some doctors in the area.
i had the same symptoms, i was diagnosed with crowns disease at the age of 16, low red cell blood count, about 7-10 bowl movements a day, as well as sever abdominal cramps....i went from 190 to 167 in about 5 to months, couldn't do anything due to pure laziness....i was put on several medications, i went from 167 to about 200, then several months later ended up in the hospital and was put on meds again including the ones i was already on and went from 200 to 230 in 6 weeks (just under 2 months)
Hugs to you, Justen! I wish I had advice to share, or a suggestion, but I'm no doctor. :( However, I will share this with a doctor friend of mine and see if he has any connections for you. Please hang in there! Thinking of you!
Sounds very much like Addison's disease. wwwdotgoodhormonehealthdotcom Dr. Friedman is amazing. I've been sick for at least 18 years, he diagnosed me in less than three months. I am on my way to surgery next month for Cushing's disease which is the opposite of Addison's. Hoping you get some answers and start feeling better soon.
Jason, google Dr. David Cook at OHSU near you. He can help. A friend posted in one of our Cushing's Help groups on FB and I've given her the same information. If he can't help, Dr. Theodore Friedman in Los Angeles can help. He can be found by googling his name and Good Hormone Health. I care. I will do what I can to help you. Robin
Hi, Jason. It sure sounds like Addison's Disease. Your ANA does not have to be high for that to happen. Secondary Addison's can be due to your pituitary malfunctioning due to something, including a tumor. Has anyone tried hydrocortisone/prednisone/dexamethasone to help you? I have Addison's because I had a bilateral adrenalectomy to "cure" my Cushing's Disease. Your symptoms sound like what happens to me when I have adrenal insufficiency which then leads to a crisis.
If you have Addison's, you need to replace cortisol with hydrocortisone. You also need to replace aldosterone with Florinef. Do you crave salt at all?
To my knowledge Addison's is a autoimmune disease. My ana was negative. What do you mean neurological in nature? Its all in my head? Trust me its not.
Change your diet. Doctors don't have the answers. They cure symptoms, not problems. Check out the book "The Maker's Diet" by Jordin S. Rubin. I had similar problems as you and it saved my life.
Not a doctor here, but spreadin your message. Best wishes to you and please keep us updated, we're aware of you and sending you love and light. Joe and Jamie in pdx
Have you been checked for MRSA? I know it's a long shot, but your symptoms are close to a lot of other ailments. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Your symptoms could possibly be neurological in nature, could be toxicity, could be a reaction from the vaccination, could be a lot of things! Dr. Sai Ling is an amazing and I have great confidence she could help you. She is good at figuring out tricky symptoms, and helping rebuild your health, without dangerous drugs, but very effectively! Good luck to you!!!!
Just posted directly to a Dr friend of mine on Facebook. He's sure to have more doctor contacts than I do. Hopefully enough doctors see this and pass it on to their doctor friends/colleagues and you can get at least a point in the right direction.
The best I can do right now is to pray for you, and spread the word, someone out there knows what is making you sick. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Have you been tested for Addison's Disease? You have a lot of the symptoms, and it's not something that is routinely looked for. What are the symptoms? The most common symptoms are: Extreme tiredness. Weakness. Losing weight without trying. You may also have other symptoms, such as: Skin that looks darker than normal. Loss of appetite. Diarrhea. Feeling lightheaded. Feeling sick to your stomach or vomiting. Craving salt. Good luck to you!
Just a thought, Are you drinking public water? You may be reacting to the chlorine, flouride or some other addition they put in the crap. You may also try a regime of colloidal silver water. If your problem is viral or bacterial you will see improvement within a few days. I also urge you to make your own because you have no way of knowing what your buying. I use it regular and have not had so much as a head cold in over 15 years. Hope it helps good luck.
Justen, I wish you wholeness and perfect. Have you considered an alternative treatment? If you are open to an alternative method of healing, message me and I will send you the web address for your consideration. Love & Healing Energy your way.
another thought, after you check your home for mold spores, if that turns up negative, you might need to start looking for specialists in rare diseases. average doctors are trained to find average diseases. once all the usual stuff is ruled out...they are clueless. Have you ever travelled out of the country? do you camp? drink water from streams? do you hunt, or eat venison or other game?
buddy, what you are describing fits the description of chronic level 2 exposure to mold spores. You live in Portland, it's a wet environment, your home may be infected. you say you've been sick for 17 months. how long have you lived in that apartment? have you checked the apartment completely?
One more thing: you might need to start looking for a Rare Diseases specialist. We had problems with a parasitic infection on my son and couldn't get it treated until we contacted a pediatrician friend from Venezuela. they deal with so many parasitic infections they have a very different way of treating it, and it worked. get someone to check your home for mold spores, and see if that turns up negative.
Praying for you Justen. I hope you find the answers you are seeking and that you start feeling better soon. May God bless you with good health this Christmas and in the New Year!I'll share with others and hope the right person sees it. Get better!
I have some webpages for you, but youtube won't let me post them.
Although, maybe your allergic to monkeys... you wouldn't know because you haven't been around monkeys, but sometimes "monkey" parts are used as growth medium.
Did you have any symptoms on your mission? Have you contacted mission companions to see if any of them are experiencing health issues? Or even people in your mission area. Call your mission president.
It is very possible to have gluten issues but not test positive for celiac disease. I would suggested keeping a food diary. Eat simple food for one month and then slowly add foods. It is possible that something "good" for you is causing your symptoms.
There is barely a smidge of spec of mercury in vaccines. And you had your vaccines before your two year mission... Right? So, more than 3 years ago...
As this site does not allow the posting of urls, Google Mannatech, a 17 year old, publicly traded company, headquartered in Copell, Texas. On their website you can learn about their patented (27 countries) glyconutrient complex supplements, which provide the proper nutrition for our cells--the "backbone" of our immune system. I have been a customer since 2001. Last I knew, over 1,000 MDs in the world recommend Mannatech for their patients. All the best, JK
@SickKidNeedsHelp, I've never been the same since a tetanus shot I received in 1988, some of the same symptoms as you but not enough to say we suffer the same thing. The doctors concluded it is psychological and as a result I was not allowed to re-enlist, chances are you'll never get a proper diagnosis because in doing so the doctors have to admit FDA approved vaccinations are responsible.
@SickKidNeedsHelp Three people I know have had some sicknesses that sound in part similar to yours. Regarding the extreme sickness and fever for no known reason -- it turned out to be a serious pork allergy -- very serious. That sounds like the diahrreah and fever for a shorter length of time. The other two people I know became very ill after taking a malaria related antibiotic =it wasn't for malaria, I think that it was an antibiotic in the quionone family.
@SickKidNeedsHelp Okay , I will admit I am not a doctor, but hear me through on this. In my town there have been lots of people that have gotten sick from lime disease, it is hard to detect in tests because it can lay dorment in a cysts. I have also heard of another kid who had strep throat ,but his symtoms were different than normal strep symtoms. I don't know anything about medicine, but I hope you get better!
I'm so sorry to hear that Justen! I've forwarded this to anyone I think may be able to help, including my Dad who helped write an alternative health book and has a lot of friends and colleagues in that field. I hope you will be able to get answers and get better soon. I'll keep you in my prayers. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Jordan has my number.
My spidey sense says "autoimmune disease." I am supposing that has probably already been pursued at this point. (BTW I am not an M.D. but I have my bachelor's in Health Sciences and have been working in a Dr.'s office for years)
I would say the reason someone suggested mercury because if the symptoms started around the time you were prepping to leave for your mission, it could have coincided with your immunizations, which can contain some small amounts of mercury.
I won't even try to venture a guess, since I have zero medical training, but I will definitely be praying for you.
Some people do not test positive for Celiac Disease but still have problems with gluten. Have you tried a gluten free diet (starting lactose free because many who have gluten intolerance also have lactose intolerance? Have you tried probiotics, especially Kefir?
I'm no doctor, but it sounds like you're poisoned, possibly accidentally, by something like mercury that you're being exposed to. Did you move into a new house at that time?
I'm so sorry you're going through this Justen...I'll be praying for you. I've shared your video with my friends and also a doctor friend of mine. I just messaged him...
Look up Dr. Sai Ling Michael in Burbank, CA. She specializes is chronic illness. She is chiropractor, she practices functional neurology, and natural remedies. She sees people who other doctors are baffled by and people fly in from all over to see her. I saw another comment about chronic mold exposure and many times western doctors can be clueless about mold or systemic fungus infections. I know you said you have had poor results with some natural medicine, but you have to find the right doc ;)
How are things going now? Are you feeling any better?

It sounds like a classic case of Arsenic poisoning. If that is the case a simple blood test may not show it, you would need to have your hair tested for past and/or long tern exposure which can come from many places that you may not even suspect. Good luck.

I wish he would respond to these questions. I am curious to whether he has been tested for Ciliacs Disease. He has the exact symptoms to the "T" that my dad had. Took docs a year to figure out what it was. MANY doctors still have no clue what it is. I bet if he gets on a Gluten free diet he would feel better and regain the weight.

Do try it.

TruNorthMusic 2 months ago
I am also not a medical doctor. Your symptoms do sound like an autoimmune disorder as others have suggested here. Have you considered getting a comprehensive genetic screening done? We recently discovered that the source of my dad's illness was hemochromatosis (high iron) through a genetic screening. You've likely ruled out alot of things from family history and many diseases like Crohns are not well characterized genetically but genetic screening may help rule out a few more things. Good luck!

staticnrg9 2 months ago
Your symptoms sound like what happens to me when I have adrenal insufficiency which then leads to a crisis.
staticnrg9 2 months ago
If you have Addison's, you need to replace cortisol with hydrocortisone. You also need to replace aldosterone with Florinef. Do you crave salt at all?

To my knowledge Addison's is a autoimmune disease. My ana was negative. What do you mean neurological in nature? Its all in my head? Trust me its not.

another thought, after you check your home for mold spores, if that turns up negative, you might need to start looking for specialists in rare diseases. average doctors are trained to find average diseases. once all the usual stuff is ruled out...they are clueless. Have you ever travelled out of the country? do you camp? drink water from streams? do you hunt, or eat venison or other game?
QuicoReed 2 months ago
buddy, what you are describing fits the description of chronic level 2 exposure to mold spores. You live in Portland, it's a wet environment, your home may be infected. you say you've been sick for 17 months. how long have you lived in that apartment? have you checked the apartment completely?
QuicoReed 2 months ago
One more thing: you might need to start looking for a Rare Diseases specialist. We had problems with a parasitic infection on my son and couldn't get it treated until we contacted a pediatrician friend from Venezuela. they deal with so many parasitic infections they have a very different way of treating it, and it worked. get someone to check your home for mold spores, and see if that turns up negative.
