  • its supposed to help only the low end torque. like up to 3000 rpm. it makes no horse power so I'm told but creates torque. which helps acceleration. its supposed to give you better low end torque and increase fuel mileage a bit if you don't go to nuts with it. good for speed but not 1/4 mile time.

  • @aaminjoshi91 Ehh, not exactly. It's made to spin incoming air, which is supposed to increase density and flow... the faster the intake, the greater the effect.. which would mean more power at higher revs. In ANY case, it doesn't. Whatever the theory, in practice it does nothing. I doubt you would even see a difference on a dyno. A few degrees in air temperature makes a bigger difference than throttle body spacers do. Like I said, all it's good for is the sound it makes.. nothing else. :-)

  • @AcidRain64 well man, anything can be said to make it sound right. i confirmed this what i said with airaid. either way for people who want actual performance it does nothing.

  • @aaminjoshi91 Agreed :-)

  • not all revving is bad, if the engine is used to it. the ring on the combustion chamber made by the pistons normal operating range can be damaged causing low combustion and blow by tho. the piston creates a ring at the top of its stroke over time and red lining it CAN and will damage it.

  • @blazinloud Appreciate the input. To reiterate what you said, whether redlining will cause any damage depends on a LOT of factors -- especially time. This motor was pretty young at the time of shooting this video. Second, it also depends on things like quality of components, materials, efficiency/cleanness of combustion, engineering quality in general. In my opinion, redline damage is really not something to worry about unless your engine is pretty old and/or very weak/cheap.

  • Oh yeah, also in line with what you said.. I routinely get up to ~4500rpm when driving. My engine sees a good range of RPMs daily. I'll keep it low and cool, cruising at 1400rpm, and occasionally I'll jump it up when passing or performing some other maneuver. In other words, this "ring" is probably not well-defined and thus not something I need worry about.

This beast is just fine even now, 3.5 years later. :-)

  • whats up with all the dumbasses sayin redline damage? just cuz ure prius broke when you redlined dont mean this will...

  • lol her's my two cents...not arguing w/any one ;) redline is the point where an engines internals ie: bearings lifters and crankshaft are at their tolerance levels before catastrophic failure due to prolonged over revving, not based on o/h cams. My 05 Suzuki GS500 has a camshaft under the crankshaft and it starts to redline @ 9,500rpms and goes to 12,000rpm nice Jeep btw i have an 01 tj w /poweraid cold air & tbs works great on the low end

  • Revving the hell out of an engine without load = Dumbass owner asking for trouble.

  • @NSX00000 Yeah, because 3 seconds is really going to destroy my engine. Troll somewhere else.

  • @AcidRain64 hahahahah

  • @AcidRain64 loooooolll Win.

    Mine redlines at 4K RPM's :D

  • @AcidRain64 NSX00000 does not understand its a JEEP THING and nice mod man keep up the Jeepin!

  • @NSX00000 thats the 4.0 inline 6 you retard, no trouble to worry about

  • dude don't listen to the fucktards on here that are commenting i love the sound and my jeep has over 120K on it and over the past few years ive wacked my jeep off the rev limiter over a thousand times... if you took the rev limiter off you can rev the 2.5 and 4.0l engines to 7500 rpms before it does any damage... i hate 5 years olds who think they know everything BTW nice jeep :) *JEEP WAVE*

  • all u pansys talkin about "redline damage".....

  • @warmerstill lol i know right... it only exist if you take off the rev limiter and throw it high up in the rpms like maybe 7500 LOVE it when 5 year olds post on here and think they know everything :P

  • Throttle bodies wont give you a whole lot more power, but it makes what power u have sound beastly lol. i gotta 97 TJ i threw a BBK 62mm throttle body with a AEM Brute intake on mine, slight power increase from the increased airflow, but it sounds awsome at full throttle from about 2200-4500 RPMs from 4500- 5k it seems to lose its roar.

  • several hundred?

your not even supposed to go higher than 1000 from redline

the only reason they make it possible is for safty...

5000 is the limit for all engines that arent over head cam.

weather the red paint on the rpm gauge says so or not.

    trail and error

  • @kreigsmann Uh, no. Redline is designated lower than it can actually go, for safety. What the hell would allowing a higher redline do for safety anyway? Trial and error? Nay, calculations and engineering, research and development, and repeated testing.

All engines are different. It's silly to say there's a blanket rpm limit for such a non-specific set of criteria.

  • @kreigsmann thats the dumbest thing i've heard. my peak horsepower is at 5500 and thats where it shifts when i get in it. thats the way it was set from factory. if you don't believe it, just ask and i'll post a video.

  • @xxxproboard ok well

it depends what engine you have.

you have have something that can handle that high of rpm

3 way valve job stainless steel valves good piston rings and high volume oil pump, ect then a v8 can handle well over 5grand.

but im talking about a standard v8 like a carbureted 350 or w/t model 4.3.

maybe you jeep has a engine with all those mods from the factory making it capable of that i dont know how they build engines these days.

  • ever heard of redline damage?

    fucking a

  • @kreigsmann I didn't even hit redline, I had several hundred rpm left to go. And I certainly didn't go any higher than it does on its own when accelerating hard on the highway (it's an auto).

  • @kreigsmann

    you are a fucking idiot!

seriously i have a 1994 jeep wrangler 4.0(5 speed) with 207xxx miles on it.

it has a leaking head gasket, and blown rear seals. and i still drive it like i stole the damn thing.

all i have done power wise to my jeep is a pacesetter exhaust.

and i open that bitch up to 5500rpm's.

the only time you will have damage is if you hold it at redline.

1st to 3rd i usually have my foot through the floor. jeeps are practically indistructable

  • @tmaxxmonster2

well maybe its the trailer trash that you are you think you can treat your vehicle like that and they will last.personally i take better care of my vehicles because id like to see them all hit the 500,000mark with same engine and tranny. my ford already has.

if i had a car that i found has a leak or any seal wasnt perfect even to the slightest degree of imperfection i wouldnt even touch it untill every problem that contributed to the issue was repaired and reassembled perfectly.

  • @kreigsmann Similarly, I plan to keep my Jeep driving beyond my own demise. However, I certainly don't baby my vehicle to the extreme that you seem to. Not all of us can afford to, either. Good luck hitting the 500k mark.. seems unlikely to me, unless you count rebuilding the engine as still being the "same" engine.

Either way, that's great for you, but don't take the "holier than thou" attitude. It's not gaining you any respect.. in fact, it achieves quite the opposite. Anyway, happy wheeling!

  • @kreigsmann why do you think my jeep is in the fucking garage right now asswipe.

i bought the thing for 1500$

it was already fucking leaking when i bought the thing. and it already had 202xxx miles on it.

the motor burns no oil, has not internal problems. other then the gaskets, and rear seals. that are being replaced. and a new centerforce clutch. is all going in it right now. nothing was wrong with the last clutch. just had alot of miles on it.

  • @tmaxxmonster2 I love watching people argue about their shit on youtube :) makes it all worth reading

  • @wisenbc5812

im not really bitching about my shit. im just stating my experiences with jeeps.

this guy says the dude is going to damage his motors. theres a thing called a safety tach all vehicles have safety tach. usually the companies drop the rev limiter by about 1000rpms from what the engine can actually handle.

i was basically just saying that jeep the I4 and the I6 are really strong motors and can take alot of abuse

  • @kreigsmann my jeep will easily hit 400k no problem. my 97 blazer has 345xxx miles on it and i drive the thing the same way.

the inline six 4.0 is all a tank. ive seen people runing over 300k with no fucking oil and they still put out.

you call me trailer trash i will post a vid of all my cars. and shit plus the house i fucking live in. if you think i am trailer trash. take your bullshiting ass off youtube. and get a damn life.

  • @tmaxxmonster2 yea your def trailer trash.

i bet thats how you hold a conversation to people.

now inflate your tires on your trailer if you have the luxury of rubber on your wheels and move to the ocean.

    dont worry it will float.

  • @kreigsmann i find you sooooo god damn funny.

you get on here and post comments about other peoples cars, stuff they have what have you?

and you dont have a fucking vid up of anything you own(cars, etc etc)

not ony that but you favorite a "ace combat video" how old are you 12?

  • @tmaxxmonster2 i dont have a camera and i drive a more than a couple cars.

fords dodges chevys a toyota POS!

where the fuck did you get ace combat from? i have that game i dont know wtf your talking about.

  • they sound cool, but very little throttle response is noticed.

  • i still wanna see a bare dyno test on a TBS alone. i think they are snake oil. show me proof that they work and i'll believe.

  • @killrroyale I agree. At most they probably add, oh, 2 horsepower?

  • i will never buy one till i c proof that they work.

  • @killrroyale Then I guess you won't be buying one because we all know they don't do much. I didn't get mine for the power. Read the description.

  • @killrroyale they are just ment for more torque not hp

  • After you installed the Throttle Body Spacer (TBS) Did you notice any positive difference in the following:

    -response?

    -gas mileage?

    -horsepower?

    -torque?

    Please let me know, Thanks!

  • Not from it alone, no. But with it in addition to intake and exhaust, yes.. all 3 things put together make a huge difference. I was getting about 14mpg and now I can hit 19 on good days, and get about 16 consistently.

  • (with all 3 put together:)

    Response -- no difference.

Power -- yes, it's not a huge gain but you can feel it... I can hold 4th gear like CRAZY up hills now when normally my transmission would have dropped to 3rd very early on. (This is a major source of my increased gas mileage)

  • do you have anything else in this vid that would contribute to the sound?

  • Nope.

  • Oh but idk where to install them at... can u take a pic of where u put urs on and send them to me or do something. to show me

  • under the throttle body

  • Hey i have the same spacer. on my 06 jeep do i need to install the 3 i inch spaceres that come wiht the kit or no.

  • yeah i'm pretty sure i had to, so you probably do too.

  • aem bruteforce intake is great.

  • The same can be said for the 94 dodge, i have a v6 dakota sport and the tb is the same as the v8, my gasket was 15 years old and it was amazing at how easy it came off, i put mine on in like 20 minutes and was done. I love the sound and can notice the difference!

  • how hard was it to install

  • It's cake. The only annoyance is removing the old gasket. Mine was pretty much fused to my throttle body so I had to scrape it all off for an hour with a screwdriver.

  • lol i just got mine last night

installed it on my 04 sport

n the gasket was like solid n brittle but came off in one pice =]

  • A throttle body spacer does nothing for Wranglers. The air and fuel are mixed after the spacer. On other cars they do their part, but not for a Wrangler.

  • i disagree, i put it on my wrangler and it added alot of low end torque. and it makes the engine sound meaner.

  • Was this with an intake or just by itself? you might be noticing the effects of the intake.

  • i installed the intake after the throttle body spacer. and i did feel difference with the throttle body and stock air intake. but now i have an xdi on my jeep :)

  • hey i have a 99 wrangeler 4 cyl, what do you think about an aftermaket throttle body? and what do you recommend if you know?

  • get a 6 cylinder...

  • if anythin small block 350, but that would be nice if a little easier to do lol...

  • you can bolt on a throttle body from a 4.0 (6 cylinder) wrangler motor on there. No joke.

the 2.5L and the 4.0L throttle boddies are exactly the same, only 6 cyl has bigger opening.

  • wow really? i think im goin to try that that sounds like a good idea, thanks dude :)

  • whats the best cat back exhaust you can get for your wrangler?

  • Don't know, but I believe Banks (which I have) is rated to allow the most flow and offers the largest gains.

  • Did it have any positive effect on performance?

  • By itself, no. But in combination with my exhaust and intake... all 3 things together made a huuge difference. I can hold 4th gear forever now, even uphill, and as a result I'm hitting 18mpg at times.

But if power is what you're after, these do virtually nothing for the I-6. You're gonna have to start looking at camshafts and forced induction to get anything worthwhile (or a chip).

On second thought, if I were to tune with a chip w/ my mods, I probably could get some real power gains...

  • My jeep has the same setup with cold air, throttle body spacer, and a flowmaster. I first heard it on a 5spd stang love this SSSSSSHHHHHHIIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!!!

  • Haha right on

  • sounds cool I got magnaforce air intake with magnaflow exhaust so far it only makes a faint wining sound when you take off I wish I could get it to wine like my mom envoy that I6 sounds cool

  • Hey... is yours a 4 banger?? I want to install one to mine.. how long and hard was the process?

  • Nah, it's a Rubicon.. I have the I-6. It took me almost 2 hours only because I had to scrape my old gasket off. Minus that, it took about 15 minutes and was easy. I installed a Banks Ram-Air Intake recently as well and it greatly enhanced the whistle. It almost sounds like a small BOV.

  • do you live near rit i think ive seen ur jeep

  • yeah actually, i'm VP of the "RIT Offroaders" Club.. we just became official this year, search for us on facebook :-)

  • What was special about what we are hearing? Just sounds like normal reving? Did I miss it?

  • Yes - there is a high-pitched airy (supercharger-esque) sound on top of the sound of the engine. Might miss it if your speakers are too low, but you also might not even realize there's anything different if you aren't used to what a Wrangler normally sounds like. It's pretty subtle, but I can tell. It would be a lot more obvious with a high flow intake (soon).

  • Cool. Ok, I'm more in tune with this now. It's like a whistling. Thanks for posting!!
