Actually, gambling is worse than doing drugs and alcohol. There is no visible tell-tales signs at all. When a man who lost a lot, walks on the street, there is no way to tell. Drug and alcohol addicts are easier to spot. Unfortunately, as there is no tell-tale signs, the gambling addicts can hid the problems longer. Thus the impact of the addiction is greater! God bless all those who need help. Watch this clip for strength when the temptation to go casino gets too strong. God bless.
Many smug people say that gambling is a choice and that's technically true, but gambling is at least as bad as smoking or heroin. I used to go out and drink and watch live music, which was enjoyable to me and didn't cost much in reality. I got a DUI a couple of years ago and stopped going out and drinking out of fear that I would get nailed with a DUI again. I replaced that activity with gambling and my life was completely destroyed. I have no money, no job, and will lose my home very soon. :-(
I like to gamble. I have never gambled away my rent, money for bills, I am not in debt, I don't have a wife, kids, girl friend, and I have a very good full time job. I like to play poker and sports betting that's it. I don't enjoy "regular" activities that other people enjoy doing like hiking or sports etc... So if I were to give up this horrible "problem" I would have NOTHING!!!! to look forward to. So please tell me is it better to be at home and stare at the wall? Thank you.
@evandiablo...Learn to like something more healthy than gambling. Gambling may be fun right now, but anyone who gambles can be just one step away from his/her life being completely destroyed. It's just like the heroin addict who takes just a little more heroin and ends up dying. Gambling is a completely EVIL addiction and can destroy a life WAY faster than drinking, smoking or other addictions. I know this from experience. Gambling became a losing battle for me and now I am almost homeless...:-(
@OZRIC1985 Ok fair enough, but like I said before there is nothing I really like to do. People tell me they love to go hiking, camping, fishing, blah blah blah etc... And I find that completely boring and a waste of time. For me I need to keep my mind focused on an activity like poker. Ok that is just my defense. I am sorry for your addiction and I know people struggle with it. Its hard to describe what goes on in my head, but poker calms down the "voices" that I hear. Thank you for your reply.
im addicted to you tube, every day i watch random videos by clicking on the you tube logo for 8 hours a day when i should be playing poker, anyone have the same problem?
More money has been stolen, embezzled and forced people into poverty by religion than by any other form.....God wants Money and always wants alittle more, all knowing all seeing but just cant handle money.(George Carlin).
There should be a way for people to pay bills in casinos as much as a way to cash checks, atms, taking away from yourself. Security doesn't always enforce the self ban either.
I handle money responsibly, but occasionally bet (and generally lose) $10 or $20 at casinos as diverse as Horseshoe Indiana to Casino Pilipino in Manila to Wynn, Las Vegas. Some people eat too much and ruin their health, impacting my health insurance rates. All humans are imperfect, and some will make poor use of living in a free society. This is not a good argument against human freedom. There are costs to freedom and people making poor decisions is one of them.
know that you are not the only ones. Luckily enough for us, we still have the life to overlook our past and realize that this is not the answer. I am trying to learn from my mistakes, because I know that even though I felt like 10k is alot. It is not worth tragedy. These lessons that come early in life will save us millions in the long run if we learn from our mistakes. I hope this benefits everyone with a similar situation, and become more in touch with the simply more finer things in life :)
I was loosing some games and kept chasing, I was betting around 500$ a game on the rly bad times. I ended up loosing around 10K and still owe locals around 4k. gambling caused my first semester of school to be terrible my plans of buying a used 350z was dimished, even thought of suicide an crimes to make the money back. Luckily I myself have been blessed enough to have the parents support me even though I have yet to admit to them my problem and loss. I am typing this to let everyone out there..
I was at a community college and working at lowe's hardware. While selling cars for more money. a friend of mine told me about his online gambling site. So I ventured off and placed my first bet on some ufc fights. I won about 420 at the end of that summer. that fall I went off to college with about 11k saved up. while in college the same friend got me hooked up with a local boookie. throughtout football and baseball season I wasdoing okay, but then around november it all began..to be continued
I'm currently 20 years old. I veiw myself as a popular handsome young male who was raised up in a wheatly family. Through highschool I drove a 99 chevrolet corvette and a 2001 audi a4. I shared these two cars with my twin brother. however my senoir year prom night I wrecked my audi a4 and my bro kept the vette. I received a little proportion of the money when my bro sold the vette. So right after highschool I had saved up about 6500 dollars. I was at a community college and working... to be cont
My problem is poker. Im addicted to online poker. Started playing six months ago and blew all my savings and went into debt. What keeps me going is to get that big win. Im actually a good player but i always eem to blow my bankroll in one or two hands. I find it hard to go through the day without playing a few tournies and a few cash games. I always think, if pokerstars can do it, why not me?? Going for that dream ruined my life.
I am a gambling addict, and it has ruined my life... I went from having a home and a family to living on the streets. I am starting to recover... TO see my story go to my channel and watch my story... A documentary on gambling...
im a compulsive gambler for 10 years. All I can say is that no matter how much money we could win we would lose all because our enemy is ourself coz we keep on coming back to win more or to recover losses.we might win 6 days a week but lose in a day very badly.
People don't realize how much gambling effects lives. More casinos keep popping up all over the country but there is no anti gambling campaigns like there is against smoking. It can be dangerous and you have to be careful because it eventually catches up to you. I just lost in Atlantic City yesterday and it hurts. Now I have to go to work for free to recoup that money. I am quitting.
i realy have to say bravo to u, people dont realise as u say, u see i live in europe and exept france there slot machines evrywhere, in the bars, coffee shop, even newspaper shop or internet cafe, sham on them, as it says in this video only vunerable people r addicted, and the real question is why the goverments allow these machines evrwhere, who takes that money, what control do thew, w know all none,it´s relay sad to see this, and this man talk about god,but he dosent dera to ask thegoverment
Im a slot machine addict from the UK, and yep... 6 slot arcades and about 30 other bars/shops with slots ALL within walking distance... not to mention the casinos... And the british goverment encourage it as much as they can... they wont let a craftsman carry a knife in the street BUT they will let our tv channels show nothing but ads for online casino's aimed at working class people (in a Recession)... ohh... and God wont help you.

That woman over eats. Isn't that a sin?
Why doesn't she work on her self first before she tells others whats wrong. If you're not going to follow your own advice don't offer it at all.
