  • 2007? where the fuck have i been

  • love love love love

  • first deerhunter song I heard. been totally hooked ever since

  • @RydeTheTyde I agree but if he's talking of anything its something psychedelic. What other reason for this video? Its trippy as all hell

  • the recording/ mixdown lets this track down, I do like the song though

  • Comment removed

  • I think that the song is about taking drugs with a friend. He speaks about how they're walking to the sun (the peak) where they walk, don't run because "walkings half the fun".

The hours become days, weeks turn into months, self explanatory for anyone who's taken pot before (he could be talking about another drug).

Hes "glad to have a guide" (his friend) with him while he is going through this experience. This song is my favourite, it will always remind me of a friend that I have.

  • @RydetheTyde Bradford said on the Deerhunter blog the lyrics are based around a dream that Lockett had where him and Bradford literally walked into the sun and died together. But you know lyrics mean different things to different people I actually relate to your interpretation.

  • @MaxwellDamian

dreams and psychedelic experiences have a lot in common, jus saying

  • @RydetheTyde heheheheheheheheh you said, "taken pot". That's as bad as saying "doing weed".

  • Another song that keeps me from killing myself

  • @jimmefoxx this is the best comment I've ever read. I hope to one day become friends with you

  • walkin's half the fun

  • this video is absolutely awesome

  • U gotta love Bradford Cox and company.... Simply 2 very cool bands...

  • flawed perfection ;)

  • microcastle and halcyon digest are perfect but i still have to let cryptograms grow on me

  • I love how the chord changes at 0:22

  • this is the only deer hunter I like

  • this reminds me of the velvet underground, I LIKE IT!!!!

  • Great song. Cool video. Fantastic band.

How these boys manage to stay under the radar, yet get the music out, amongst drastic changes in the recording industry is mind-blowing. Deerhunter has earned huge gobs of respect for doing this, in a relatively short period of time.

In summary... easily the best band I've heard in 10 years.

  • such a simple video, but i love it. and the song is amazing

  • @ bennymutant...well, maybe next time they'll hire TOOL or Axel Rose to direct their videos for you to help "strengthen their overall importance". I apologise for my cattiness, but dude...really!?!

  • sorry bennymutant. my comment was pointed to the critic misterioso.

  • If you don't love Deerhunter, then you have no feelings

  • @bennymutant How original; a camera pointed at the lead singers face while he lip syncs. The guitar work on "Microcastle" is amazing and I truly want to support this band but I feel they really need to muster up some creativity lyrically and visually to strengthen their overall importance.

  • @Misterioso

Agreed. They might give me goosebumps, but ok, their videos are plainly flat, and uninspiring

But me, I just love the tunes, their sound, their style

  • kinda has a Pavement sound to it

  • Hi Thor!

  • beginning reminds me of Brian Eno's "Needle In the Camel's Eye"

  • @schlenic000 I thought the same thing. The solo for Desire Lines also sounds like Needle In the Camel's Eye. Eno is obviously a big influence on Lockett Pundt.

  • this kind of music make me feel alive

  • what the hell where did this band com from ? lol

    fucking unbelievable !!!

  • Deerhunter: A Space Odyssey

  • Rhythm, melody & harmony o' this tune massages my brain.

  • replay button = raped.

  • Reminds me A LOT of My Bloody Valentine...

  • this video was played at my rape 101 class, now i know exactly what i'm doing XD

  • Is he getting butt raped?

  • hahaha, we walk into the sun.. so my friends, let's walk into the sun.

  • I want this song to be playing as I die

  • sometimes, drunk people sound like this to me...

  • this song always reminds me of a friend I had a crush on named Dan, we both loved this band. We lost touch and I wonder what happened to him. :( We always thought that this song was written for Dave from "2001: A Space Odyssey" as he was passing by the "strange lights"

  • @franzchick66 girl you got to find Dan, go to him.

  • @franzchick66 awesome.

  • is he getting a back massage?

  • holy shit. this is the best song i have heard in years. imma have to buy an album of theirs soon; which one should i start with?

  • @93cantthinkofaname microcastle is really good - their newest album - Halcyon Digest- is also amazing

  • lsd ?

  • This song never ceases to amaze me. Best lyrics Bradford has written, for sure.

  • Greatest band of all time.

  • fantastic band. hearing them feels like entering another world.

  • how come ive only found out about these now?

  • @kugunga it's always the bands you discover yourself that define your life. Without fail they take over your life like a cold does. And it spreads to your friends. Deerhunter was more like an STD.

  • @mynameismark25

this comment just made it in my quote section of my fb.....good job.

  • @JosephCote27 I like that.

  • i love deerhunter <3

  • wow

  • this band sounds like they do music for cell phone commercials, there isn't a damn thing going on here that wasn't done better in the early 80s, WORTHLESS

  • I went to a Spoon show not too long ago and Deerhunter played before

Spoon. I had never listen to Deerhunter before but what they played did not impress me at all. Everything was way too loud, could barely hear the words over all the noise. Also between songs the lead singer kept making very strange and outrageous comments that were supposed to be funny but werent. I like their records but they just sucked live.

  • @Kmartshopper34 that is strange - it was the complete opposite for me. I despised their records until I saw their incredible performance live. Perhaps it was because I saw them at a festival?

  • why is "Strange Japanese Sea Creatures" a featured video for watching "Strange Lights by Deerhunter" ? lol

  • yum eh eh eh?

  • i really think that deerhunter is one of the best bands actively producing music right now -- i cant wait until sept. 28th!!

  • Say them in Toronto opening for NIN - was very impressed.

  • If this video doesn't startle you wtf ha

  • Why isn't this in HD?! can any one point out a HD copy of this video?

  • awasome

  • Cool song. The video is pretty clearly inspired by Kubrick's "2001."

  • @rogoffishal no doubt

  • james sumner you're the fucking man.

  • saw them in columbus, the venue and the crowd sucked, but deerhunter rocked. wish i could have seen them elsewhere, pain of living in rural ohio, not much comes, the few that do are two hours away in c land or the c bus. some day ya know some day

  • i cant believe i only heard of this band just recently

    their music is really good!!!

    hazel street :D

  • I have to say, this song is a great way to start the morning :)

  • Just saw them open for Spoon in Seattle this weekend. Good show!

  • @ookaninam2013

Both shows were great. I love The Moore.

  • wow

  • all those colors remind me of being a child, toys and flavors

  • @snehesten you had a wonderfully colourful childhood!

  • TRIPADELICALLY DELICIOUS VID!!!

  • i like it... it sounds like what i just to hear in the 90's .. sonic youth and others ,, cool.

  • Hands down.. one of the most honest and beautiful chord progressions of the last decade. All hail the alto vocal genius and all hail the honesty of songwriting. I really don't see any comparison to the past in terms of deerhunter. Often times critics are academically trained to compare and contrast art with a hint of new criticism method. In it's purest sense, the sound this band creates is a reflection of art in in its time and environment. Deerhunter is a Godsend.

  • dude you sound like the most pretentious fucking wanker ever. this is a good song, but fuck you man

  • Dude, it's E, B, A. Calm down.

  • im with you, even if the rest arent.

  • Hey now thats a great lineup except switch Deerhunter for Atlas Sound!!! That would be like...WOW!!

  • first and foremost this band is NOT at all under-appreciated their probably the premier indie band. now japanther is under-appreciated, starflyer 59 is under-appreciated. but definitely not anything bradford cox puts his hands on.

  • The hours became days the weeks turned into months, we walked into the sun........and ya anyone that knows real music can relate with Deerhunter they fu*king rule!!

  • I hope more people don't like them. That way I won't have to wait so long in line to see them. All hail musical realism.

  • "so many critics. So few writers."

  • @bottlesandcans01 That's selfish, why would you deprive him success for your fortune?

  • It's like the same thing through the whole song

  • Been listening to this for the last 2 days on repeat

  • I have had this song in my head all the week. Bradford is a genius

  • I love this song.

  • Sounds a lot like old Campervan Bethoven

  • i'm glad i found a new band that makes music we can sing along to.

  • i have to say, deerhunter is probably one of the greatest bands that i've discovered in a long time. they really are under appreciated.

  • @howard22 you didnt discover this band

  • @howard22 one of my favorites, and very underappreciated

  • Fucking incredible.

  • best band to come out of America in YEARS!!

  • Underneath all the noise this song has a beautiful melody. Deerhunter are not quite My Bloody Valentine but they are getting close.

  • nice job.

  • nike dunks blow dick

  • My mom PWNS your comment

  • Comment removed

  • Um... I'mma make the assumption you mean the lead singer of the band Deerhunter who appears to be "getting action in ths video"?

His name's Bradford. No big, though.

  • lol, thankyou for ruining the video for me!

  • i second that :P

  • kinda reminds me of early ash :)

and that sir is a very good thing

  • you're totally right!

  • why don't we walk into the sun?

  • great song. very hypnotic.

  • How could I miss this essential song until now ?

  • i love this band. makes me so proud to be from atlanta.

  • Thought they were british, very Ride.

Then again Galaxie 500 were yanks too

  • just heard about these guys, awesome!

  • is this animation, or is this a light machine? pretty badass light machine if so...

  • projector

  • Fantastic song and video even. Anyone else reminded of Slowdive's "Allison" while listening to it?

  • not particularly, but there's another great song by another great band!

  • Best live band ever

  • Is it true they're playing in Mexico next month?

  • I love this song.

The beginning sounds a lot like "Needle in The Camels Eye" by Brian Eno.

  • so much!!!!!!

  • even more so live

  • exactly what i thought, still its a great song

  • OH SNAP

  • what is that song by them where its like "its always win-ter"

  • I like this band

But Brad Cox does NOT look good in a dress

  • I have not had the honor (of seeing that)... but I would rather not.

  • definately looks better in those muscle shirts he used to wear

  • This is so fucking dope.

  • reminds me of late 60s psychelic music. I'm 52, and have been "experienced", as it were.

    Grovvy, man. Groovy

    : )
