  • this is art ! not mess up...

  • what effect is jimmy using at 8:15 to get that sweet distortion?

  • i like it!

  • How's this a mess up..?

  • from my experience drummers only do this kind of hting when they have no monitor at all, and if thats the case, then i have to applaud the guy for keeping the energy even though..

  • I think the drugs were catching up to them. Page said he was on heroin when he mastered Presence. I was at the Chicago show in '77, and they sounded like shit. I think the '75 shows were the best sounding.

  • never heard this before, damn bonzo! The 77 tour was unfortunately woeful, except the LA show, which the bootlegs capture pretty well, but i saw the last show ever in usa, oakland, sunday july 24 77, not their best but at least i was there.... zep is the best ever, but i think by 1975 they kinda got caught up in their own "rock stardom"... i cant believe i put a quasi negative post on you tube bout the mighty zep

  • led zeppelin is my favorite band and i love them to death, but this was bad. we have to remember that they weren't gods

  • Even the greatest band of all time messes up....lol...I would have loved to have seen their faces. Funny thing is that their mess ups are still better than any band on their best night

  • wow ... at the start , a real full old photo of 'Jasta 11'(Jagdstaffel 11) from World War I ... the 'Red Baron' (Manfred con Richtoffen is seated in the Albatros D.III aircraft) ... on the cover of 'Led Zeppelin II', Manfred is cropped out and his brother Lothar is the one seated on the ground.

  • @zetetic0void opps .... some typos ... con = von

  • how can i get this to my ipod?

  • Pretty sure that this is the monitor mix.

  • maybe they just got tired of preforming the samething over and over and tried something different.............. or maybe just messed up :)

  • I love zeppelin but no need for the nobs everyone knows.. Just look at my black dog video and copy the disclmaer or however you spell it and they can't block the audio

  • Fuck that bass drum is hella miked. Thud Thud Thud.

  • This is some of the best stuff I've heard from Plant from the '77 Tour.

  • Starts like a "remix".

  • just kidding Jonsey is my idol

  • holy crap is that robin williams at 00:32

  • Plant said they could never replace Bonham because of how they would stretch and change the songs as a group. The same song sounds different on every show of a tour: something you can't say about most acts. Sometimes, things go wrong.

  • This would be the third night at the Capitol Centre in Largo MD, just outside of DC. They did a four night stand there, and its no longer standing.

  • Yeah, there's train wrecks left and right, but personally i never got to see i'm live, so even on there WORST NIGHT EVER would've been killer!!

  • lol jonsey from the 80's

and hahahahahaha carolina beat the new jersey devils by 0.2 seconds LMAIO HAHAHAHAHHA FAIL

  • overall bonham's drumming is badass on this. He comes in wrong at the beginning and misses the"1" after a few fills but otherwise his drumming is tight and his fills are ambitious. Its the risky playing like this that could make for a sloppy song or alternatively, when things align take the band to the next level

  • I can't barely hear JPJ's bass.

  • bonzo said he never drank before a show because then he would fuck up so no i think he was counting wrong or jimmy went 1 measure to long because he did it 4 times i think not 3

  • This evening reflects their crappier shows. Its actually embarassing - cominh from one of led zeps biggest fans.... :-)

  • nah man, not embarassing at all. just shows the spontaneity of the shows. sure they mess up, but doesnt, plus, its awesome when they recover from the flaw anyway.

  • well actually yes! I'm better than bonham in this clip. Led Zepp are my number one band of all time, Bonham made me learn drums - but i understand why they've held so many bootlegs back - when they were fucked up on stage - it sounded like this. Not exactly like the official dvds! The price of impro is that it sometimes sounds really good when everybody is together - or it sounds like absolute shite.

  • Hahaha, it sounds so weird.

    Like, a remix or something.

  • WOW>>>>>>>>>>Bonham musta been messed up! I have seen him were he couldnt walk, but was flawless. This is the first time I ever heard him mess up this bad! BTW Bonham dont coun "bars" its all feel!

  • You can always see Bonzo counting so i think that's what went wrong, he wasn't paying attention and started counting late and made up for it then started in wayy too early, I just don't think he listens as much as he counts bars.

  • sweet vid thanks. please check out Immigrant Song live in Orlando (with backwards solo)

  • watch--Achilles Last Stand FIXED and UNFIXED

  • Idiot! One The "Fixed" version was from August 4th and the "unfixed" was from August 11th! The played 2 nights at Knebworth and wore the same clothes both nights for a video release

  • this kinda thing is bound to happen iff you are in the road for as long as they were, no matter how good you are

  • "Jimmy Is So Cracked Out LMAO. Just Listen To The Sound. But Hey, They Are Led Zeppelin. Out Of Tune, Scratchy, It's All Good :). Thye Still Mustered Through It lol. A Legendary Band But Even Drugs Got To Them. They Were Fine While Only Drunk and on Mari J. But When Heroin Kicked In, DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMM MMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNN. Shit Hit The Fan lol."

seen this on another video from you.... you make a great poiunt about how you "know" them

  • you know robert plant and jimmy page... rly...

i doubt some1 whom knows these people woudl leave a stupid comment like this one

  • &fmt=18 add this to the address, sounds better

  • LOL i totally believed you hhahahahahahah

  • This is the worst version of this song, my favorite song of all time.

  • nope, id say worst is july 20th 1977 in tempe arizona.

  • For my coup de grace, check this out:

^ While some external sources, such as Allmusic, categorise Coda as a compilation album, Led Zeppelin's official album label, Atlantic Records, categorises it as studio album. See for example the liner notes for the Led Zeppelin Box Set, Vol. 2 and the label attached to the Complete Studio Recordings boxed set, which state that Led Zeppelin released nine studio albums.

  • riaa never certified CODA as an album end of story

  • george bush was hated, but was he not the preisdent?

  • kid, you're a fucking idiot.

  • seeing as im an idoit, it is my expert opinion that you have conceded to defeat, the first sign as somebody realises they are wrong is to attack the opposed debate~

  • Led Zeppelin's lable says CODA is the last album. Are they wrong?

  • sorta, coda was just a compilation of unreleased songs

  • lol, you didn't even respond to what I had to say, instead retreating to the ad hominem tatics of a man who has been beaten in argument. And no, dumbass, I would not consider Mothership to be their final album because Coda is. Mothership is a compilation. Coda is their final album. This is not debatable.

  • Coda was not their final album. The material on Coda was recorded in 1978, 1976, 1972 and (two live and remixed songs from RAH in 1970), therefore making it a compilation album. Their final album is ITTOD. There were no NEW tracks on Coda.

  • there were some tracks that were never released before though. "No quarter was 'recoreded' in 1971, but you wouldn't call the 1973 release of Houses of the Holy a compilation would you?

  • You are wrong. No Quarter was recorded in 1972. And even if it was recorded in 1971, it was still part of the Houses of the Holy sessions. Poor Tom was not part of the Coda sessions, mostly because there were no Coda sessions..

  • stfu, goddam dude, stop trying to save face and prove every1 wrong, CODA, was theyre outake album, ITTOD was the last alum, proof, riaa never certified CODA as an album end of story

  • One more thing--I'm not wrong about "No Quarter". 1971 saw a drastically different, more aggressive version that was recorded in '72 as we hear it today.

  • Coda was a mix of studio rejects and live material (I can't quit you), to say that there were less contributions from page and bonham and thereby insinuating that Plant and Jones had more to do with it is wrong.

Before you try to sound like an asshole when someone wants clarification for your ramblings, take a step back.

  • Wow, nice being a douchebag. The reason I asked was becauxe you're fucking out and out wrong. You say Coda had little input from Page or Bonham...Well it was produced by page, he assembled the material (because there were no "coda sessions" and certainly played on the tracks. No Bonham input? How 'bout a whole fucking drum track? What do you call that?

  • I'm not sure what you mean when you say "heir final album received few contributions from Bonham or Paige"

  • why is this called the nobs im cinfused?

  • at :16 "watch out jimmy, HEEEEREs Bonzo!!!!!!!!"

  • I'm reporting this video to WMG for copyright reasons........ no im just kidding. awesome version.

  • Comment removed

  • I never said this achilles sucks. Not sure where you got that from.. but it is a mess up regardless of how cool it is. I actually defended this version when other people said it was horrible. Go look back at the comments..

  • this song was recorded a year before (1975) page became addicted (1976)

  • Bonzo is like "f-this, I'm gonna start."

  • I love Zeppelin!! But this kind of stuff was end result of Bonham's and Pagey's heroin abuse.Especially Jimmy he was really smacked out.But i would still listen to this anytime!!

  • Thank you...

  • what's wrong with you

  • i think bonzo was bored.

  • lol thats hilarious. that wasnt really a recovery, i can just see page looking at bonham like WTF? then just adjusts...

  • Eye thank yew..

  • HAHAHA! Another knowledgeable Zep reference, right ?? (you are mimicking the way Plant would jokingly say "I thank you" in the course of some of his humorous, taking-the-piss-out-of his best lad, Bonzo, monologue's , aren't you?) I read it THAT way notwithstanding, and it made me laugh (out loud). slainte!

  • shaaadap

  • a nob is a cock, if all cocks are definitely penises, then a nob must be a penis

    A)True

    B)False

    C)?

    D)Profit.

    :(

  • I Dont get why people are saying that Bonzo coming in early "Killed the song" Page Quickly realized that Bonzo fucked up and he adapted to his tempo,Overall i think it sounds perrty sweet

  • the error sounds good :D

  • i bet they did alot of heroin after this one

  • re letting down the fans i saw them at knebworth twice in 79 and they played around three and a half hours, ive never felt so unlet down

  • You saw them live at Knebworth? you lucky son-of-a-bitch

  • What a beautiful place to have been back then...damn...

  • Lordy Lordy why are people so unforgiving about obscure live concert mistakes by Zeppelin? They're only imperfect humans, even though their output often sounded superhuman. Give them a break, people: the best have their off-moments too!

  • they killed the song ,it's sad, cause its their best tune.

  • It actually sounds pretty cool IMO.

  • LOL @ 0:53... Zep rules.

  • if you hear the audeince recording of this show it sounds like a better performace cause usually soundboards such as this ones kill the real feel of the show and make you think its a bad performace.. all 77 soundboards are shit but the audience recordings are great

  • yeah but look at the PHENOMONAL may 21st show. thats a soundboard, and its amazing

  • I dislike all SBD recordings... They just dont sound as in sync as with an audience recording.

  • "all 77 soundboards are shit"

    Far, far from true.

  • The European 73' soundboards are awesome too, and Houston, Cleavland, and Capitol Center from 77 are all great. I'm going to try to post as many complete gigs as I can!

  • its actually from maryland, on may 26th 1977.

  • wait, is this landover?

  • this song had to have been from late 1977....plant still has most of his voice :)

  • its may 26th 1977

  • Bonham was not a heroin addict. He was an alcoholic.

  • No, youre wrong. Yes he was an alcoholic, but he did into heroin in 1980.

  • I was told Bonham quit the habit late 1979...cause it wasnt helping..but then his addiction to alcohol deepened..pushing him into a dark depression..this version shows it.. the lack of his fills..his lousy timing...Bonham is my favorite drummer..even smashed he still can blow most drummers out of the water !

  • Even though bonzo was drunk out of his mind and jimmy and robert were higher than a cats ass, they are 20 million times better than the shitty band today.

  • I thought that sounded cool! so many times when someone screws up a bit (i'm pretty sure this wasn't actually a mess up, just improv), it always just makes it sound more interesting. in Black Dog when they get a bit out of sync, it sounds awesome.

also, anyone making fun of John Bonham should go to hell, he's the greatest drummer the earth has ever seen, so show some respect!

and this isn't the greatest recording because it's a really dry soundboard. audience recordings are so much better!

  • the worst version i ve ever heard

  • u gotta put it into perspective. For me there are no bad performances. Just some better than others. just my opinion.

  • in fact i said the worst version i ve ever heard not this sucks it s different! i ve heard this the knebworth version and seattle 77 and this is my opinion

  • well to make an opinion after only hearing a total of three or four versions is kind of a small sample size. Ive heard dozens of versions of achilles, so thats why are opinions differ, attanasio90.

  • we.base our opinions on what we have seen and because ive seen only three version of this son nowadays I can say hat this is the worst one

  • Youve probably got as many bootlegs as I do.... youve got to notice the huge slide they took in late 75 and from 77 on...

I'm a diehard fan, but you cant really defend a bad performance.

  • A lot of people paid a lot of money and made a lot of effort to get to this gig. There can be no excuses for letting fans down. But, it's over now and they're still the greatest rock band ever to have been. Can't have the good without the bad I guess.

  • It goes to show that BONHAM was working with musicians who improvised all the time (and would allow for it). It's cool to play in a band like that because you cut through all the bullshit and get truly creative!

  • well said dude!

  • John must have been drunk :D

  • when was this preformance.... just kidding

  • it was still great.

  • ahahahahahahaha. I bet he was drunked. xD Nice going john ;)

  • ahhhh, makes me cringe so much when bonham comes in like a bar or two early lol :)

  • I don't knw kind of cool...

  • The bass in this version kicks ass.

  • Robert also got the words confused up a bit too.

  • after his mistake..bonham plays so impressive..

  • OOOOOOPs...wow this is the first time I've heard anything where Bonham fucks up. This is a bad one too. Zeppelin they are magic and sometimes they were fuck ups but still they are always the best!

  • that picture of bonzo changing colors right when he begins the fuckup is one of the finniest things ever and plus hes eating haha

  • what years was this?!!!

  • I already told you 5/26/77 In other words 1977

  • He did this again in LA 1977 on the last night i beileve

  • haha...they were probably on drugs during this performance...cuz no one really makes any attempt to fix the mistake...

  • um...when was this?!!! was it the knewworth concert?!!!

  • this was 5/26/77 (maryland)

  • This is fucking great man! Love the pictures too!
