it's an unfortunate situation, but you can thank your fellow pakistanis who have moved to norway before you. their actions in norway have burned the bridges for future pakistanis who wish to visit norway.
Amazing what happens when policy is directed by fear. Not the first time a group is marginalized; the freedom of movement is a right. Norway is using the justification of 'terrorism' to restrict some people's movements. Your right, 'loved in one country, hated in another. I was lucky to have an Iranian roommate, an Afghani boss and a Hindu adopted uncle, because the propaganda doesn't fly with these kind of life experiences.
norways relationship with pakistanians is kind of a touchy subject. ask any norwegian or pakistani-norwegian. take a-gjengen or b-gjengen as an example. these are pakistani crime syndicates thats been running the streets of oslo for more than 20 years.
its sad that these situations leed to rasisme, but i can't say im shocked.
If we suddenly became a poor country, what good would our [good] deeds do? You would reject our citizens just as we do now!
I doubt *you* can claim that Pakistan would welcome hordes of destitute Scandinavians invading your country with their weird language, customs, clothing and religion!!!
Oh, and as for your question regarding the EU collapsing. You seem very confused and ill informed. Norway is *not* a member of the EU, we have rejected them twice. Our vast wealth is invested globally, and we survived the recession unharmed. The EU hurt, we didn't.
We are only part of the Schengen travel area for our convenience.
I don't see why you are unwilling to accept that your country is considered a "higher risk" in terms of illegal immigration. How are we to know that you are in fact just a tourist? It is prudent to be careful, and we already have too many Pakistanis here today.
Hello Imran, you seem to be a little bit confused and perhaps more than a little angry.
Let me correct your claims about discrimination. You are not a citizen of Norway, you have no rights to visit or live here. That should be easy enough to agree on.
An American would not fare any better than a Pakistani applying for a visa, if Americans actually had to apply. We have strict rules to ensure that visa applicants have the financials means needed. Most Americans coming here won't be a problem.
Thank you for trying to reach out to the norwegian government, but it's not the government it's something wrong with. "We" (the left side in general) is fighting, but losing, the war against intolerance and racism. Arbeiderpartiet built this country, restored it from WWII, controlled or oil and built a stable foundation for a social democracy. Being one of the most democratic countries in the world has it's (tiny) backside, as it's easy to scare and manipulate a population.
Distancing ourselves from the immigrants is making the "problem" worse. If we all just would accept them as equal human beings, integration would've gone smooth. Lack of integration is making it worse for the Pakistani population, as having trouble succeding at school and work is pushing more people into crime and gang activity.
It's not the immigrants that is the problem, it's the norwegian population. A different skincolor or religion doesn't make you less norwegian.
"It's not the immigrants that is the problem, it's the norwegian population". Ja, selvfølgelig. Det er jo fakta! DUST!
Thanks to FrP (and rest of the right side), intolerance is growing again in Norway. It's sad, really, that so many norwegian has become closed minded, creating a gap between the pakistani part of our population and the "ethnic" population. (I use ethnic pretty loosely here, a huge chunk of those with Pakistani origins are 2nd or 3rd generation).
The immigrants have never been a problem. It's the right side that's making them a problem, and intolerance is just making it worse.
Sadly, the right side (mainly made up by the two conservative parties FrP and Høyre), runs a scare tactic against muslims, and have been doing that for many years. A term commonly used the last year is "snikislamisering" (meaning that they think the muslims is slowly turning Norway into a Islamic state). They spread fear, intolerance and hatred. FrP is a common choice of voters that're not that into politics, because of populistic suggestions like cheaper gas, lower taxes, privatisation etc..
Just going to explain a few basic things about norwegian politics to help you understand why you feel discriminated:
The gouverning parties is made up by a red-green alliance (left+center parties), which includes Arbeiderpartiet, Sosialistisk Venstreparti and Senterpartiet. Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister, come from Arbeiderpartiet (The Norwegian Labour Party).
The left side fights for better integration of immigrants, tolerance and equal rights for all.
it's an unfortunate situation, but you can thank your fellow pakistanis who have moved to norway before you. their actions in norway have burned the bridges for future pakistanis who wish to visit norway.

Hi! I'm a norwegian, and I'm ashamed to be so.
To you, Norway may seem like a wonderful country, but that's because of misleading campaign showing ONLY the good sides, not the bad.
Politicians in Norway are pure psychopaths; they don't care about human lifes at all; all they care about is money and their own well-beeing.
Our castle is possessed by drug-addicted whores and half criminal weed smokers.
Norwegians are racists and stigmatizes all foreigners as less intelligent.
Norway sucks!

I don't understand where FrP (The Progress Party) got it's name from. It seems to me they're just stepping backwards.
I hope this trend turns soon, before it's too late.
Good luck!
