Really good jangly sound! I am thinking to put GFS Retrotrons to mahagony Hagstrom Deluxe with f-hole, Memphis to the neck and Liverpool to the bridge, I wonder how will this combo sound - probably a bit similar to your Guild. BTW what is the melody you play here?
Nice! I was wondering what the Memphis buckers sounded like! I just put up a vid of me playing with my GFS Retrotron Liverpool in the bridge that you should check out.
Gosh, I think that's more the way guitars should sound--"like ringin' a bell." That particular Guild is as pretty as any guitar ever made. A Duo-Jet or that Guild and I'd be a happy old man! Thanks for sharin'.

@agandr just a little progression I put together, I used it for another demo here as well, for an LP into a 60's Epiphone amp.

I have the Memphis pups and they are great. I like single coils and these are close enough to make me happy.

They are made to sound like Rickenbacker pickups.

For me class A amps have a pure sound but tend to be strident and stiff sounding...I think the alnico 2 is a good match for that amp.
The tone is quite nice. The alnico 2 sponginess gives it the depth and offsets class A stiffness.
Nice tone.

I have the same pickups in my Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Semi-hollow, and the sound just like your demo--AMAZING.

that same awesome song!

Actually your post reminded me of that one when deciding what to use to demo. In some ways very similar, but without the relentless onboard tremolo.

Hi,
Could you tell how the memphis pickups sound compared to other pickups? Are they crisp and punchy at all like a strat single coils? Thanks
spentonmediocrity 2 years ago
Definitely not as "stratty" as single coils, but they are definitely bright for humbuckers. But the strong mids of humbuckers are retained.
