I always wanted to play final fantasy but i never got to play the play station ones and now they have Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 out and im sure that i wont understand the story since i haven't played all the other ones or would i understand it if i haven't played the other ones, is there any way i can catch up on them any help would be appreciated

I just finished FF XIII and i was disappointed in it's overall lack of evolution in next gen I loved the story and CGI but I don't like the lack of accomplishment, the linear maps, and no interaction with NPC's or surroundings.... But I've heard that XIII-2 brings back a classic FF feel to it and interaction. SO SHOULD I BUY FF XIII-2

i'm not a final fantasy fan nor have i ever played any game of the series, but i've heard good things about it, so i decided to give it a try and downloaded the demo for this on my ps3, and i gotta say i was disappointed at the battle system, it sucked, i mean you whatever happened to the all hitting-hard-style like Kingdom hearts series? this was more about magic and u cant even attack your opponents that aggressively, am i the only one who think this way, again pls dont bitch just an opinion

The commentary is fair(don't like it - just buy the game itself) and although down to the game itself, it reminded me of my old gaming days when rushing to a store to buy a FF game and just splashing out on whatever merchandise I could rack the bill up with, such as strategy guides.

@Funechrist Auto-battle is when the game chooses the leader's commands for you. Many times they don't pick the best choices; therefore, it's best if you do it yourself. Also every FF is different.

Others like me want to return to the way RPG's were supposed to be stupid fucking Squenix! >.> towns don't cut it for me.

@Zellik147 I really don't get people like you, what is the way RPG's are supposed to be? I personally have't done any grinding in XIII and I got through it just fine. Maybe you're just bad at the game? They did change the focus of the battle I guess. It's more focused on managing your paradigms and timing them correctly instead of manually choosing attacks. I think the paradigms are a much more complex and rewarding system if you know how to use them correctly.

And wth you don't like grinding in XIII but XII is the series with the most grinding. Biased much? Also, I thought the characters in XII were really bland. The story was more politically based than character driven. Half your party had no reason to even be in the story besides developers just throwing them in.

More free roam, Weapons, Mini-games, better story, better Antoganist, Improved battle system, Improved leveling up system, and can summon monsters that you have faught in your party, Alot more side quest

Cons(bad): No summons, all weapons look exactly the same but with different colors, battle system is still to automatic
