Still Riding was a documentary, by Tom Downey (related to Ray Downey, legenday R2 capt.), that aired on American television a few years ago. I think you can get copies of it off of ebay, I haven't bought one or checked. I do however strongly recommend the book THE LAST MEN OUT. Great book. More or less a more in-depth version of the documentary before AND after 9/11, with some great FDNY/Rescue Co. history. Really powerful book.
I can't imagine driving that fast through NYC. It's such a bitch to drive down there at regular speeds. Driving a beast of a truck on the red, that must be tough.
"Still Riding" is a documentary that aired on TLC on the 1-year anniversary of 9-11. It's unfortunately not available on home video. Apologies, as I didn't realize the origin of these clips was such a mystery to many who have viewed them. Hopefully the show will be on the internet in its entirety in the near future. It really is better than all the others. . .
We have mutual friends (to include his nephew) plus he used to work in Alexandria fd years ago and I now work in Fairfax fd. He was also instructed me at Rockland training center.
Thats cool i meet him at a drill that i got to go to at the 79th street boat basson and ever since then every time i visit the city he's been working.
does anyone know why they keep the back doors open?. Also, the last two rescue 1's didn't have the crew cab with SCOTT pak jump seats. Does anyone know why this is. And finally, what rigs did they use until they got the ones from the Tully,N.Y. fire plant (I live 20 miles away from the former plant) just cant spell the name.
When did they have one of those, if its this one your describing, it looks a lot like a HME with a Saulsbury body, last time they used a pierce was the Mack R models, until the very lastest that went on the run a few months ago, being a Pierce Arrow XT.
damn he's the definition of hauling ass.

The LT. riding the seat in this video is Dennis Mojica, killed in the line of duty on September 11.

they used pierce rescue truck on spartan chassis. Back doors are open for easy egress and ventilation in the summer. and it looks cool(lol)
