What does this express, nothing, it is a feat of technical prowess, I never denied that. However, I believe if you simply treat the music as math and accomodate for all technicalities and simply play what and how your teacher tells you, you are doing it an injustice. Creativity should be the driving force behind music, not perfection. P.S I'm a violinist

Are your judgements purely based on the fact that she doesnt move nor necessarily show facial expression? And I'm obsessed with emotion and I think she is expressing herself through this difficult piece, and the ricochet bowing is hard to control and she played it beautifully. IMO. But if you dislike it then how do you want it played? I play violin as well. But I don't just play notes and decorate it with lush vibrato it has to mean something

People saying this isn't music is bullshit. It's a caprice one of Paganini's 24 caprices designed to showcase TECHNIQUE for violin not a song that puts you in tears. Paganini was a showman much like modern rock stars and used the massive amount of technique required to play these pieces to impress people. It certainly impresses me. The caprices are really meant to showcase one or more specific violin techniques in each one not cater to you assholes.
