Flute rocks. -3 It's gorgeous when you play it right (you're great, by the way) and clarinet same thing. Every instrument is unique in its own way... Flute just has a lot more then others. ;) I play flute, so I guess I'm a tad by bias.

Hey! There equal jerk! I play the clarinet and my brother the trumpet! You dont have to buzz into a mouthpiece like he does, and we clarinets have an octave higher than the flute. So missy,you have no right to being throwing your shit at fabulous instruments! :P

1.Flutes have simpler fingerings and mechanisms than a clarinet.

2.But flutes require ten times more air. You need a lot of stamina to play.

3.With reeds you have to do more upkeep and the slightest change of wetness or a chip in the reed causes your tone to change.

4.Don't be stupid. All wind and brass players must shape their mouth in some way in order to play.

They both have their ups and down. Just because you played them once doesn't mean you know a lot about them.

No instrument is easier than another. It all depends on your mouth's natural embouchure. I can play clarinet, but not flute. One of my good friends plays flute beautifully but cannot make a sound on clarinet.

Also, playing on reeds are not easier than shaping your lips. Not if you want to produce a quality sound, anyway.
