I am a Catholic but am currently reading about Islam in books and on the web and watching these wonderful videos. I a a home health aide and I am learning about Islam to better prepare myself in the event I am assigned a muslim client. I own hijabs so I am ready to cover when necessary to enter a muslim's home. I respect those muslims who are true to the faith and not those idiots who use religion to commit the gravest of sins against Allah and other people who have done nothing wrong.

just curious how far are you with your learning about Islam? did you come to any conclusion comparing to what maybe has been preseted by media?, which ideas and knowledge did you gain,out of your reaserch? and how do you see in balance comparing your religion( Catholic) ?

You know its an interesting thing what that Muslim woman says about how the mandated attire combats her from being judged sexually rather then intellectually - something those commenting on the women in the beginning should pay attention to. But hey, don't women do this to men as well sometimes? Perhaps we should all wear giant baggy coverings and things around our heads. Or maybe we should fix the underlying problem and educate people so that they respect each other intellectually not by looks.

Well then the education does exactly what I am talking about - it teaches both genders to avoid judging each other in a visual or sexual matter, but if this is entirely effective, are the laws/suggestions regarding the attire of women still necessary? If so, then the judgment call here is against men and not women, saying that men are more likely to turn away from their education, in that case, something needs to be addressed within the culture about why men are more prone to such.....

...why should women have laws/moral expectations levied against them because of the immoral behavior of men? It should be the men who are having more restrictions levied against them in order to stop this inappropriate behavior, this tendency, despite their education against such, to still judge women in a visual/sexual manner.

Yeah that is funny, judging by the fact that a great segment of the American population (wont mention Jewish as thats pretty much taken for granted..) browsing habits revolve around Porn and gleefully looking at pictures of murdered Iraqi's and of course browsing through islamic videos to post vile comments.

because she is one of those stupid ass americans who think Muslim is a type of culture. when I became Muslim people kept on saying I am white that I can't be Muslim. I kept on telling them it is a religion not a culture or ethnic group. Then I came back at them, saying "then I guess christians can only be white."

Hey, traditionally in the United States, Christianity has been associated with 'whiteness'.... and nowadays if you haven't noticed, for the most part, Christian culture is centered around white or African American ethnicity --- you haven't seen too many protestant hispanics, now have you? YUp. I've always questioned how come Jesus is BLONDE and BLUE EYED in the northern/western europe? Another matter is that they always connect muslims with Arabs. Well, Indonesia is the biggest Muslim nation and statistically they have more Muslims than the ENTIRE arab world combined. I've never set foot to America, but what amazes me is that how ignorant (most) americans can be.

Well we aren't as ignorant as we appear at large. Our culture exemplifies ignorant people, meaning that we dwell on them and put them in our news. We do this because we think that showing ourselves these ignorant people makes us less likely to act like them. I mean, you may here about some racist violence on the part of an ignorant American in our news, but you're not going to here about some interracial couple who loves each other. We don't point out good things, we point out the bad.
