You may not care about what West did in Iraq but the Army did hence them ending his career. You may think power is the only way to get respect but my experience as a light infantryman in Iraq taught me that a little empathy can go a long way and is a hell of a lot less damaging than showing off our brute force. But I'm a just a liberal leaning veteran so by all means disregard what I have to say and release the phony soldier kraken...

That was a decision he made on his own. Funny how you talk about accountability and integrity, which is what he displayed when he reported himself to his commanding officer immediately following the incident. Don't forget that.

@radeksrat I cannot explain enough that any US Army officer would do at least as much as LTC West did to that detained suspect if it had even the remotest possibility of saving even ONE American life. He resigned because, in carrying out his duty to the men and the families of those men, he broke the rules of the Army.
Also, you may have overreacted to the shooting thing, but that type of "joke" is really never appropriate, I will agree with that. And I am jealous if you actually do know West

I served under LTC West in Iraq in 2003. Truly one of the greatest leaders I've ever had the pleasure of serving under. A man of integrity and a true leader.
I live in Texas now and am out of the Army, but will follow LTC West to hell and back. Ask ANYONE who ever served under him and they'll tell you the EXACT same thing.
America needs more men like Allen West.

The "incident" that he resigned at the conclusion of came about because he was trying to protect his troops and had reason to believe the subject was withholding information. I find it to be a qualifier of his caliber & courage that he didn't just throw his hands up, but put his career on the line to try to stop the impending plot. Thats a hero, no matter what the liberal press & the top brass cowtoeing to them think.
