I was hoping I would prefer the Jungle so I could say I know where my DnB roots are etc etc but Holy Shit when that DnB bassline starts you just gotta move and get your screw face on. @Wiseyodafunkeeebeats Nuffin wrong wit bein a chav fam lol ;)
love them both, big difference, but i do love the new DNB. i can tell you, im no chav, as i listen to everything but i do like this new generation of music :)
i hear a lot of people differentiating jungle vs dnb but honestly im new to the genre somewhat like ive heard it before when i was little specially when i played grand theft auto 3 and it honestly sounds similar except that dnb has a more polished sound to it
jungle has definitely left its mark in drum and bass but also in break-core and gabber, even rock. i believe personally that it is a less defined genre in its self compared to drum and bass though, but that is what makes it so special.
the 2004 definitely takes the crown, but they are both good mixes. On one level the 1996 takes it cause I'd be willing to bet there was a lot more originality used in creation. However, based on me being lit, and zoning out off of both, the new is the better. Technique is more advanced...in...how many years? of course it is. BTW I always thought DnB was taken from Hip-hop and Jungle was taken from Reggae. Thus the different steps. I can dance better to jungle. but it's all untz untz to me
for every person that makes a good comment there are 10 people who say something dumb and get confused with jungle and dnb. 1st off the jungle ready or not mix is just the original not a bootleg and the drum n bass version was done in 2003 not 2004. If you wanna hear some proper jungle check out watch?v=nIgYA_jZZNw
:The 96 is a good example of the style of the time, and as such I consider the baseline a bit 'cartoony.' It pulses in 8th notes and sometimes changes pitch in 8th notes ("bouncy").
:The baseline in the '04 remix also pulses on 8ths, but it's softer and offbeat accents help minimize the effect of bouncing. The pitch mostly holds for half notes and changes on an offbeat.
My "felt sense" is that the newer version has a smoother, lifting feel, vs. a bouncy heavy one.
its all about 1969 if it wasn't for people like the winstons or chubby brown you wouldn't of had jungle drum and bass all you true djz and producers that know ur shit will av a clue what im on about :D
loving both mixs of this i remember being at world dance newyears eve 96 goin in2 97 and this tune being dropped that nigt i cant tell you how many times it got reloaded the place was jumping
Mmmm...back in the day, we used to call the DJ stuff 'Jungle' and the more intelligent album-oriented stuff (like Photek) 'Drum and Bass'. They've always been the same to me.
Jungle music rules. I wonder wot ya british fuckin eat, always far and far ahead with ur underground music,, rave, jungle, drumnbass, etc etc.. keep it up.
Anyways, ol school jungle (ragga -jungle) was very complicated when ur stoned. great.
Second one is far heavier. The breaks hit harder and the bass line is more interesting Having said that, the 96 version is a classic. I prefer the 04 refix overall.
Theyre different, the first one gives a better intro kick the second one endures to be for longer better. Both not perfect, but I like them coz it was my first dnb experience.
Hay, I choose quality, I know what is a good mix not just any mix outhere and the tunes I pick what people missed out. My own mixes is down to chance if people like them but hope they fit in.
dobra
