You have a mistake in the description of this composition. This piece is from album named "Compostella - Ad Vesperas Sancti Iacobi : Codex Calixtinus XIIe siècle".
@nuandii The Liturgical tradition of the Church, including style, came into fruition in the 4th century, especially with Saint Basil and Saint John Chrysostom, deriving primarily from Hebrew and Greek influences. Arabs had no direct connection, not even the Ghassanids. The "clear Arab influence" is completely anachronistic.
@TheSacredHeart2 YES!!! The Holy Church should make Liturgical music, and rubrics TRUE once again. We want to ascend to GOD in Theosis by lifting our Hearts, and Souls as an oblation with the Eucharist, not just recieve a "magical cookie"!!! But we the laity can influence the Chuech, for WE are the Church, and it is up to us to ask for these things, and attend the ancient Liturgies that one can find, even as a Catholic!! :) GOD Bless!!!
I had the blessing of travelling to France, Spain and Portugal on pilgrimage in 2001. Santiago (Sant Iago) de Compostela is definitely one of the most remarkable places to visit in all of Iberia, if not Europe. Lo and behold I find the Codex Calixtinus, named after my patron saint, Callixtus. I purchased a four volume collection of the books. Simply magnificent work of Mozarabic Chant, defining a certainly remarkable time in Galicia. Its a must have for those who love chant or plainsong.
Bonus an malus Latinus post annos duo? Nunc ualeas.
In the old roman chants and those of the orthodox church, the resonance and power that is placed in these songs truly feel of god's awesome power. Amazing and beautiful, many thanks.
and everybody else.

@nuandii Isn't more likely that this was borrowed from Byzantine tradition rather than arabic?

@nuandii Jewish, Greek and Byzantine influences rather than arabic ones.
