What I dont understand is why you are promoting yourselves with unrealistic shows. In selfdfence training the attacker should wear a protectingsuit, so the defender can hit for real. You have to hurt the attacker, to see if what you are doing, really works. If the attacker dont care of your punches, the you have to hit again and harder. If you get used to fake punches and kics, you will do the same in a real situations.
If you ask anyone, they will tell you in a real fight (with no rules) that the ground is the last place you want to be. Krav maga is intended to avoid stupid situations like being taken to the ground. So when you say, 'they have no ground game' you are forgetting that this art, first of all, is not a game, but a survival method, and that these people train for any situation that a soldier can encounter. This demonstration is horrible but Krav Maga is a must-learn art. I am a Muay Thai practitioner but without Krav Maga, I wouldn't get out of many situations they have taught me. Krav maga is well-synthesized from many arts where they have only taken effective techniques and maneuvers needed in real life. I wouldn't rely heavily on this art though. I would recommend others to do other art or sport while training krav maga as ur secondary training.

I've taken few Krav Maga sessions(not authentic ones since I've just taken it from instructor at my college who served 2 years in Israeli army). It's used for street fight. Your chances of meeting someone trained in mma on the street is very rare and it teaches techniques where you don't need brute force or martial skills. You probably are not giving Krav Maga enough credit because its techniques can be found and taught in other arts, such as tkd, kung fu, karate, and many other old traditional arts. They only teach it but they don't train you enough to the point where it becomes your second nature.

Excluding kicks to the groin, I think KM is good but over rated. They took most of the moves from mainly Defendo a WW2 combat system and from some other styles.
The best style is I feel, against one person unarmed is MMA. Which is really Brazilian jujitsu/grappling with some Muay Thia/boxing as we all know.
But KM is not that bad especially against weapons. The think that pisses me off with KM is that it is too hyped up and over rated.

Krav Maga = Cheap Ball Shots. Also, the crescent kicks the guy does at 0:32 are from Tae Kwon Do, not Krav Maga. I lived in Israel for two years and I know that Krav Maga promote high kicks.

I'm sure it's effective for the Israli forces, but the average person isn't an elite fighting force. I also feel that at an elite level a good grappler is taking down an elite fighter in Krav. The 'good fighter ending it before it goes to the ground' sounds awesome. Not real, but awesome. What is the finisher on the way down. The eye gouge, the eye poke, the nut chop? Because if you're trying those things and not paying attention during the ride to the ground, you make get knocked out.
What lacks in civilian Krav Maga is liveness training. Martial arts in steps in a real fight will most likely not work. It's good to see that the knowledge is there but the execution is ineffective.
Nightvision, the thing is in a real fight, kicks in the balls should definetely dictates you to go to the ground. Fighting is not the key to practice kravmaga .... The thing is, this video is amateur, you should look for israeli forces videos.
A tonn of marital arts teach 'Never go to the ground'. Then reality dictates you go to the ground. Any special forces are going to do well with their art of defense. They train 8+ hrs a day. Russians do well with Systemia, Indonesians do well with Silat, Etc, Etc. All do well with their art. The devastation that you see in these vids is with a cooperative opponent. Much different in the real world. Not debating the best martial art, just want to remain in reality.
VeritasNicea, while I agree with you wholeheartedly ,I think the training is unrealistic. Trying to use one of the many "deadly" strikes in many non-reality based martial arts is similar to running a 2 minute mile. Granted grappling in self defense does have it's drawbacks, but if you go to the ground, most fights do, then you should have an idea what to do when you get there. A fight is a rapidly evolving encounter and the notion that your assailant will stand still for you unreal at best.
Krav-Maga teaches never to got to the ground that is how you die. You do anything to keep yourself from going to the ground. The israelis seem to do pretty good with it.
Ever been in a real fight, hand to hand combat? 9 times out of 10 it's gonna end up on the ground. You might not end grappling but I can't remember the last time I've fought, practice or real, that it didn't end on the ground. And no, Israeli military MA is almost identical to what Marines learn. All real MA that have been proven in combat have striking and grappling effectiveness.
Im also a fan of Bjj, but do you know what the probem with grappling someone in self defense is? Very few people today fight alone, alot of self defense situations involve several people. That means that when you got the guy your fighting in an armbar his friend will come up and kick your face in. im not saying thats the case everytime but I would never recommend anyone to spend to much time on the ground in a fight, I say do what you can to get up and finish that way. Its safer.
from what i see about km is that its not an art rather self defense system that incorporates different movements from various arts not much different from jkd absorb whats useful discard what is useless and fighting comes down to the individiauls capacity not the art or method

But those arts take awfully long time to learn and they don't focus on techniques taught in krav maga. They only teach it but they don't train you enough to the point where it becomes your second nature.

Being the master of Krav maga won't make you the strongest, martially skilled fighter in the world but it's the real time saver where everything u learn can actually be useful and be applied in life. Excluding kicks to the groin, I think KM is good but over rated. They took most of the moves from mainly Defendo a WW2 combat system and from some other styles.
The best style is I feel, against one person unarmed is MMA. Which is really Brazilian jujitsu/grappling with some Muay Thia/boxing as we all know.
But KM is not that bad especially against weapons. The think that pisses me off with KM is that it is too hyped up and over rated.

Yep, I practice KM, and I actually agree. Krav Maga is all about effectiveness. If I kick your groin just once, you will be on the gorund in a split second. = Fight is over. I win, you loose. I'm sure it's effective for the Israli forces, but the average person isn't an elite fighting force. I also feel that at an elite level a good grappler is taking down an elite fighter in Krav. The 'good fighter ending it before it goes to the ground' sounds awesome. Not real, but awesome. What is the finisher on the way down. The eye gouge, the eye poke, the nut chop? Because if you're trying those things and not paying attention during the ride to the ground, you make get knocked out.

What lacks in civilian Krav Maga is liveness training. Martial arts in steps in a real fight will most likely not work. It's good to see that the knowledge is there but the execution is ineffective.

A tonn of marital arts teach 'Never go to the ground'. Then reality dictates you go to the ground. Any special forces are going to do well with their art of defense. They train 8+ hrs a day. Russians do well with Systemia, Indonesians do well with Silat, Etc, Etc. All do well with their art. The devastation that you see in these vids is with a cooperative opponent. Much different in the real world. Not debating the best martial art, just want to remain in reality.

VeritasNicea, while I agree with you wholeheartedly ,I think the training is unrealistic. Trying to use one of the many "deadly" strikes in many non-reality based martial arts is similar to running a 2 minute mile. Granted grappling in self defense does have it's drawbacks, but if you go to the ground, most fights do, then you should have an idea what to do when you get there. A fight is a rapidly evolving encounter and the notion that your assailant will stand still for you unreal at best.

Ever been in a real fight, hand to hand combat? 9 times out of 10 it's gonna end up on the ground. You might not end grappling but I can't remember the last time I've fought, practice or real, that it didn't end on the ground. And no, Israeli military MA is almost identical to what Marines learn. All real MA that have been proven in combat have striking and grappling effectiveness.

Im also a fan of Bjj, but do you know what the probem with grappling someone in self defense is? Very few people today fight alone, alot of self defense situations involve several people. That means that when you got the guy your fighting in an armbar his friend will come up and kick your face in. im not saying thats the case everytime but I would never recommend anyone to spend to much time on the ground in a fight, I say do what you can to get up and finish that way. Its safer.
