I got an eyetv new from ebay for £50 and you can get a HD PVR from amazon for £160 although I am unsure of the differences between the standard HD PVR and the HD PVR gaming edition

I don't intend on getting eyetv, but all of the files on the disc provided are all .exe files and not what I need to run this on my mac. I've spent £149 on this and so far I am not pleased with the purchase.

@valon750 basically, you don't get Mac software with the HDPVR. Or at least, back when I got my PVR - there was no Mac software enclosed in the package. Theres only two ways to use this PVR on the Mac - use EyeTV which is going to cost (but is very very good and a lot of people use it, in fact everyone) or google the Hauppague software for Mac which was relatively crap when I used it back in the day (i think there was a relatively small fee for it).

@zztop5911 within the EyeTV software, you can choose to have them on or off. Looks like you must of clicked on it accidentally. No biggie - it should still work, i put it off sometimes as the blue light is distracting. (it only turns on when recording )

@zztop5911 lol, you dont need to subscribe if you dont want to. Key is quality, if you like it - subscribe. In any case, you'll need to run setup assistant for EyeTV again. When EyeTV is open, click on 'EyeTV' at the top menu bar and then setup assistant. It should be on there after a few steps when you've entered your manufacturer (HDPVR)

@ClipWatcher21 you dont need to install the HDPVR software. Just directly install EyeTV and that will pick up your HDPVR device (when you connect it in the USB).

@Thepace1994 Check for updates. There was an issue with EyeTV not recognizing the newer Hauppauge PVR's that were made, mine being one of them, and i needed at least 3.5 (i think) to recognize mine.

I just have to say. I know u probly didnt know this but. there is a device called eyetv HD that is cheaper than the pvr in the and any other hd pvr and records in hd. and its for the mac. thumbs so everyone can see.

@whONeEDZNaDeZ No way mate , PC requirements is true you need USB 3.0 for the intensity shuttle and a for the Intensity Pro you need an extra PCI Slot. If your talking about quality alone the Black Magic is far superior as it displays Full 1080p whereas HD PVR only displays up to 1080i.

You gotta have editing software to zoom in on the picture when recording it to your laptop. The same happened to me but i tried a demo of Sony Vegas Pro before my laptop died on me, and it was able to correct that. So try editing and see what happens.

hey man could you answer a question thats been bugging me ? my setup is PS3 , surround sound , Px21's all going into my TV. so do i take my Px21's away , plug the red, white and yellow scart components into their coloured slots on the front of the PVR , use the supplied yPbPr components into my TV and then continue as normal ? its really confusing. I dont have the PVR yet but i wanted to make sure that it would work if i did end up getting one , not to waste the money on EyeTv and the PVR

@Qflick nice. So you have the HD PVR all connected up properly (push all the wires in the back to make sure they are in securely). Use the USB cable which comes from the PVR and connect it to the macbook. Then, install the EyeTV software and during the setup process... it will ask you from a drop down list as to what hardware your using to capture... just choose the Hauppague HD PVR from the list and your good to go.

@Qflick ignore that disc. It won't work. That disc is only for Windows based machines, will not work on the Mac platform. You need to buy and install Mac specific software (such as the one shown in this video, called EyeTV by Elgato).

@Parkers233 nop (i wish it did!). Has to be through EyeTV or Hauppauge's own software and then you export it in H264... which iMovie then recognises... then you can add commentaries, video and audio effects :D
