Appearantly we have reached the point where we agree to disagree about spousal abuse just be sure you keep it out of my community. We have one mosque and that's enough. It isn't welcome here. Also, Muslim and Islamic are not interchangable terms so let's not treat the as they are. Muslims are Muslims but anyone I see coming out of that mosque is Islamic. The Quran does directly instruct believers to not accept non believers as friends or allies and that's fine by me. I want no part of it.

Except for women. In Sura 4:34 it is permissible to beat your wife within the Islamic religion.
Except the non believers. In Sura 4:89 you are not to accept non believers as friends or allies.
Sura 8:12 gives you permission to strike non believers above the neck and even every finger.

A good friend of mine years ago converted and told me that Islam was misunderstood. I know he believed what he told me. He believed Islam had evolved beyond attrocities documented in the middle east. He was wrong. Islam is taught from the Quran. Are there different versions of the Quran because I have been unable to find a copy written for Islam Light?

However, my point is why should people accept something out of balance, violent and injust while they can ignore Islam and choose something else?! -- I don't share the view that people have empty lives or do not value the lives they have. When a wife disobeys her husband he is directed to manage this problem in to a gradual step by step process. First advice her verbally and direct the wife obey the husband & following Gods directions. So in Islam we are directed to manage a family problem gradually and one step may come to hitting the wife’s hand or a shoulder (not violently) to avoid the final step of divorce. However if all these steps did not work then the couple have a choice to get a divorce and to leave each other. As can be seen this gradual approach allows time for both husband and wife to think problems over before escalating the problems and leave time to repair things.

You are entitled to your own opinion as do all married or single people. You are free to resolve you family problems what ever way you choose. However, the point is made clear now with regards to women rectifying. As for the Muslim attitude towards non-Muslims: Muslims are encouraged to have a fair and friendly attitude towards non-believers, however this does not mean hypocracy or hidding the Islamic message of mercy sent to all man kind. This openness is the norm unless a war state is active.

This is because Islam is the final and complete, untarnished message from the creator of the universe and everything inside it. The Judaism and Christian Holy Books have been editted and changed, but they DO still hold some truth, this is why we hold them sacred also. The Bible's changes are actually very clear. The Hebrews and Psalm say Jesus was NOT Crucified.

If some one bad said something good. The deed it self is still good regardless of the bad person. Religion comes from the creator. Laws are man made. laws change, but true religion does not.
