  • the pilot doesnt go into the water really fast because if he did the wheel could cause enough drag to nose over, thats the best reason i can think of

  • Those floats are huge They look like it you stick them together, they are the size of the fuselage. How much loss of performance, loss of cargo capacity and drag is there with floats on versus off, roughly?

    Why does the pilot enter the water so slowly rather than just getting in quickly?

  • @sanfranciscobay The launch is rough in long lake, it is not a professionally constructed ramp, just sand and rocks. Not sure about how much drag is on them, no loss of cargo capacity, as they often load these things to the gills and than some more on top.
