It's a Turkish string instrument -- looks kind of like a tiny fretless banjo. It has a very crisp sound.

And absolutely the musicians have a great deal of fun with this music. Hijinks are a guarantee at a ragtime concert!

I find the music delightful but,what on earth is a cuembuesh?Is it a dried fish?A mediaeval instrument of torture?I have slowed down the motion but cannot find it.Explanation,please. Does this music make the performers as happy as the listener?If so,lucky players.
