  • I only checked this out since it was linked from humble pie... John Mayer sucks eggs

  • This is so wimpy. Listen to Steve Marriot and hear how it's supposed to be done.

  • Right on, plangentmusic! Nothing really beats Stevie's version.

  • Is this" I Don't Need No Doctor " done by Humble Pie in the early 70's, if it is John Mayer's version it's pathetic. Check out Steve Marriot and Humble Pie.

  • humble pies version is shit

  • thank god someone who knows what they're talking about. I honestly don't see why everyone makes a big deal of humble pie's version on this song. Either watch i don't need no doctor from "where the light is" or from Austin city limits. Fools.

  • Check out the Ray Charles original. I like the Humble Pie version but not every Ray Charles cover has to be bludgeon riffola.

  • wow the humble pie version doesnt compare to this. the humble pie ver is wack and totally diverts the whole blues factor. its like turning a country song into a rap song, or vice versa

  • They did hard rock version, and it's a gas !

They put their stamp on this song.

I guess it all comes down to a musical preferences.

  • Humble Pie's version is so much better than this.

  • @Kilroy1983 Humble Pie's version of this song is terrible. Just awful.

  • @monthejoe That is your opinion.

  • @Kilroy1983 As was you asserting 'Humble Pie's version of this is so much better' - for the record, just so you know, I'm right - there's no musicality in their crappy power chord version. It's dreadful.

  • This really sucks out the wahzoo compared to Humble Pie!

  • hahahahahahahahah just the fact that you said go listen to humble pies version makes me laugh so hard. Humble pie is fucking horribleeee i don't know how anyone could ever like something so bad

  • No....

  • Mharr1s: How about that: First think, then write! Humble Pie, especially Steve Marriott, was a lot better in both singing and guitar playing than John Mayer is. Dito

  • ok so the only thing you've watched of john mayer was probably the first 20 seconds of this? Why don't you do some research first on why john mayer is where he is today and why he is playing with legends such as clapton and bb king. I suggest watching Where the light is, it will change your view completely on JM

  • I may be a little biased, but in fact i gathered some information about JM before i wrote my comment. I just don´t like his style at all- too much of copying the greats and far too poppy. Another reason is that he played with Kanye West... c'mon, which guitarist would want to play for a dumb hip hop clown?

  • I personally think kanye is way cooler now than he was before, because he isn't hiding from anyone. He knows he's a DOUCHE and accepts it with open, drunken arms.

  • a smart one indeed. I dont want to fight or anything but if you see music regarding to comerciality and popularity in a big spectrum, we can say that hip hop today is at the top like rock and roll back in the 70s. It is a good way to comercialize himself a little more to the public

  • You are soo mistaken. You probably like this pop crap, in which case I can see where you are coming from. But you have very little taste when it comes to real music.

  • As if John Mayer isn't bad enough, he has to ruin this great song. Listen to Humble Pie do it right, some time. Oh God, this sucks...

  • I totally agree with you sf40. This clown blows! Thank God the original is a Peter Frampton and Steve Marriot (Humble Pie) version! Mayer isn't fit to shine either of their shoes, much less try to play guitar!

  • sf40 and guitarandampsguy. First off, this song is originally a Ray Charles song FIRST and FOREMOST. Second, Mr. Mayer's version is actually an interpretation by John Scofield. This version is more true to the blues original than Humble Pie's version which is merely a simple rock interpretation with far more simple chord voicings.

  • BRAZ: First and foremost, this is NOT a Ray Charles original, but a soul gem by Nick Ashford (of Ashford and Simpson fame)that Charles covered a couple of years later. Check it on youtube. Second, I totally agree with you.

  • Thanks for the history lesson. I was always under the mistaken impression that Ray Charles wrote the song.

  • you are a tool

  • I totally agree with you.

  • damn JJ Johnson is SICK

  • oh muh gah, I LOVE how he performs this song!

    I'm so dang obsessed...

  • I cried when he played the solo in my home town...my god, so amazing!

  • that is SICK

  • I love it when he moves his pelvis like that!! Haha it sounds gross but its so sexy!! I love him. Can't wait till my shows in 2 weeks!!!!!

  • wigged

  • thnaku

  • how come your video isn't all shaky? Mine always turned out shaky. Oh wait. Maybe because I kept dancing... This vid is AWESOME!! Thank you!!
