Jarkko Ruutu is such a piece of shit and an insult to the NHL. I'm all for hard hitting and toughness. But you have to show respect. This asshole has no respect for other players. I wish he played in the NHL 15-20 years ago. No. But just look at all the dirty and cheap hits he has given in his 8 plus years in the NHL. I dont think there is any player in the NHL today that plays as dirty and cheap as he does. As I stated in my first post I have no problem with players that play a tough and physical game. Ruutu is known for checking from behind and high shots to the head. That is not part of hockey.

my comment to this is that very often (as sum1 explained b4)when you hit someone, u contact with shoulder first, but in order to deliver the hit "thru" and keep ur balance also instead of "runnin over" you push the after the initial hit by extending your arms. that is not elbowing. elbowing needs a clear, direct impact. and i'm all against that also. BUT, sometimes accidents happen and guys get over heated. that's a shame cause it can result in serious and career ending injuries.

We can agree to disagree, but by standards of the immediate completion of a shot, it was a live puck since it did not stop or cross the goal line. The forward motion bit is always debatable. I think the NHL needs to change the language concerning forward motion, personally. Make it more of a focus on continuous motion, like with the spin-o-rama.

Some goals that would be disallowed by your logic of moving it "back a bit"... won't let me post links, but Zetterberg's "Forsberg" move, Getzlaf's drag move, Gagner's move, Datsyuk's drag move on Vokoun, and Malik's between the legs goal... ranked 12, 7, 5, 3, 1 on a top 15 shootout goals reel.

Obviously there is a lot of flexibility on the "forward motion" topic, and I don't think you can say for sure that Ruutu's shot would not have counted.
