Just found a little scaling and my only 1 year old faucet sanders it and applied some vaseine, it seems to be fixed, Just wanted to thank you for the video, I thought the cartridge was the culprit, had to get all the way through your video to beleve it was the o-rings. Tim
The new generation of ceramic cartridges is supposed to be more resistant to hard water wear but I have had little experience with them. Maybe it means they are working.. I am not aware of any innovations in the "O" rings.
High calcium content in the water is abrasive and wears on o-rings, bearings. BUT...single handle fauces have been a problem since my house was new, 35 years ago. DELTA brand through-out. I still believe they should give better service now; but they don't. Example: One recent replacement, I went to Kohler brand (China) and within 18 months, the same kind of leaks really got flowing at the kitchen sink (all of which was plumber installed).
You might as well try the sandpaper. My experience has been that if there are gouges or rut lines in the cylinder that they cant be smoothed well enough to get the "O" rings to reseal.Let me know how it goes

Thank you. Very nicely done and instructive. I have a rough spot on the base of the faucet that appears to interfere with the bottom gasket sealing properly. It's not scale deposits. Any suggestions? Could it be possibly smoothed with some fine sandpaper?
