Indeed! As Mark Twain remarked, the difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug. The same may be said of notes. Dowland knew where those right notes were. How he knew -- who can say? Towards the end of his career, the Baroque style was coming in and Dowland didn't like it. Too many notes, kinda like '80s shred rock, if ya know what I mean. Semper Dowland, Semper Dolens.
A beautiful piece, beautifully played. Have never heard this one. Dowland's melodic sense never fails to amaze me, and I love the contrapuntal dialog between bass and treble, which you handle very well. Bravo, Val!
