Gee, I'm still on Ubuntu 8.04 (my old intel graphics card in this ancient ibm r31 is the problem) and I just hope I can install this one of these days. I've heard that 9.04 will even be much faster than 8.04 and 8.10
Hahaha no just kidding of course! Linux is great, but I wish they make installing programs easier... I used Ubuntu for 3 months and I just got fed up with it because of installation problems.
Different, but I wouldn't necessarily say better. Why make it so thin? I didn't mind the previous one, especially on high-res monitors - it even looks tiny on my EeePC... If they're going to change the USplash, why not render the Ubuntu logo in a similar way they did the new GDM login screen?
I like 9.04 better but 8.04 is going to be maintained until 2011.

Is 9.04 gonna be LTS? and wondering if I should try it with ext-4 or maybe riser4?

No, it's not LTS! Yes, try it with EXT4... I am running 9.04 since Alpha 4 and I have 3 big hard drives.... all with EXT4 :)

Is this much faster, as Canonical claims?
I'm looking forward to Xubuntu 9.04. (Xfce is sadly overlooked.)

Wut? You just open the add/remove and you find the program you want to install, click apply and it's installed... doesn't seem that difficult to me.

Depends... If the distribution has them packaged then it's easy, otherwise newbies will have a hard time installing programs.
Potemuki 2 years ago
It's not that hard... I mean... dependencies is really the only problem. But those are easy enough, just Google them and install those...

I did some updates yesterday and noticed the change, I thought something got f-ed up.
