Did you ask what is the reason for those problems? The immigration from other cities. I observed that 90% people you talked to are not originaly from Istanbul. They are moving in without job, home and money. That's why traffic is terrific, unemployement is rising and so crime rates is.

first of all, it is a given that metropolitan areas always had and will have traffic problems.. plus instead of complaining people should stop migrating to Istanbul. there are a lot of other places to live in Turkey. nobody is forcing them to move to Istanbul, plus Istanbul is very low in crime compared to big cities around the world especially in the US.
im an american Christian (Orthodox Church), and i think maybe one reason for Istanbuls problems is the westernization the city has experienced. western culture tends to be immoral and materialistic; perhaps if the majority of the people of the city would have Islam as central to their lives, at least some of the problems would disappear (maybe the corrupting western influence came about because maybe too many people in Istanbul do not have Islam as central to their lives.)
