That is very damn nice; imaginative. I heard of this band from Mayhem. Euronymous was such a fan, that he slept on the doorstep of Conrad Schnitzler to meet him, and aquire his spare composition "Sylvester Angfang".
You can really hear the influence that Kraftwerk left on Tangerine Dream. Seeing as they are both German electronic bands from the 70's they must have been sharing ideas and such.

@ltdees2362 You are right, this is a place where to comment music. Were you bombing shit out of Hanoi? who cares, and how this is related to music?
BTW, if you mastered flight as you master english language I can easily understand why Ho Chi Min kicked your butt out of Vietnam. Are you so proud of having killed innocent people?
God! I miss the old TD! Saw them live the first time back in '86. What a show! Blistering sequencer patterns, ear-splitting PPG squawks, lasers flying everywhere...Just 3 guys hammering' on those synths for all they were worth. Their recent stuff? What the HELL? An emaciated Edgar, a couple random dudes doing who-knows-what, and the most annoying drummer chick ever to pick up a set of sticks. Blah! I want the old TD back!
Un de mes albums préféré que j'écoutai il y'a trente cinq ans avec Ricochet, Rubycon, Phaedra, Peter Baumann, avec Romance 76, Mike Oldfield avec Tubular Bells, Ommadawn, Hergest Ridge, Incantations, Klaus Schulze, L'Apocalypse des animaux etc..............;
Wow, If I make you puke my I suggest you get a really big barrel! I could go on, however you are simply not worth the effort. This is a place to comment about music, not put down people with your foul mouth that you know nothing about....
My all time favorite! I got into TD when I was in Thailand in 72-73, my Air Force days, 353rd TFS TDY from Myrtle Beach SC to Karat Royal Thai Air Base. We would sit out at the end of the flight line at night watching the plains take off, "Linebacker II". We're bombing the shit out of Hanoi & Haiphong! We had a Sansui amp & real to real tape deck with 4 Altec 850 speakers set-up at the radar shack...What a way to run a war!
Colonel Davis I hope you don't see this! & Thank God for JW Red Label!

I saw these guys on their first US tour, in a former movie theater in Cleveland, Ohio. The sound was so intense that the building vibrated with the music. Being fried at the time made the concert more than fantastic. They used a (real old tech now) a logic rythm computer, that was directly in my view. What a trip, to watch the switches thrown and hear the beat change. Guitar work blew my mind away. Great stuff, timeless.
I would consider this my favorite TD album. It combines the ambient touches of their earlier albums with the more rhythmic and melodic ones of their later. They really get the timbre right on this one too. Encore seems to be the live counterpart of this great period.
I managed to see them live 3 times in the UK in 80's-early 90's. Bloody amazing.. wish I could see them one last time.. not much chance of that. I now live in California. Bugger...

Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream. Music ahead of its time. It was artists like this that started modern electronic music and sequencing. I can just imagine how fun it was sequencing tapes, now you got digital files that you can just mix and match, change wave forms and envelopes on the fly. Back then it was cutting and pasting tape sequences on sequencers with limited tracks and bit rates. Manipulating actual tape lol And on synths that cost as much as a damn car...
Imagine waking up and feeling like the first thirty seconds of this piece. Imagine doing it every day for more than a year and a half. Something exquisitely beautiful about it, but you don't want to live there.
Cannot believe i'm actually going to see them live at the end of May at The Lowry in Salford...saw them only once before a good few years back, when an old friend of mine managed to get some tickets that someone else was selling as they couldn't go...we were very lucky to get them. I feel very lucky this time too that a good friend of mine (different friend than before) texted me and asked if i was interested in going seeing them...my reply to him seconds later was..YES YES YES :-D Can't wait!
@NieelzzZ A belated reply here (sorry I very rarely check into replys on here :/ ) But cheers, the gig was awesome. I still intend to put a video together with all of the best pictures I took at the gig, i'll try and do that soon. Thanks again :)
I hope they've improved their stage act since I saw them. Granted that was in 1981, but I cannot recall any gig where I felt so completely distanced from the artists: they just sat there, dull and expressionless for nearly an hour and a half, apparently unaware we were even there!
Hope you enjoy it, but in my experience don't expect wonders.
The best! i have 4 of their albums from the 70's and 80's and this was my favorite one. these guys, jean michel jarre, and isao tomita were fantastic and i have never in my whole life met anyone else who has ever heard of any of them!

This reminds me of a very sweaty and pleasurable afternoon spent with my then girlfriend and her best friend in my recently rented first flat and some very spaced out LSD in 76. Ah sweet memories.
I saw another posting of this song and it was a different recording. This is the album track, the one that I know and love.
I just saw the movie "Tron: the Legacy". The soundtrack is by Daft Punk. Tangerine Dream is ripped off mercilessly throughout the entire movie ( an enjoyable movie , by the way). But I waited for mention of Tangerine Dream when the credits rolled. None was to be found. I felt I was a witness to a crime. Instead it said "Original Music by Daft Punk." Not exactly so.
PS: That Album cover alone has given me so many ideas/stories within my mind when I was younger...Ah the power of Imagination inspired by amazing music ♥
One of my FAVORITE Songs by a goup most people never even heard of!! I grew up with them, my parents introdued me to their music! Loved em ever since! I would dance to this song in particular when I was little and their music through the years has always been great inspiraton for me.
To me they've always been and always will be one of the greatest groups/bands ...I've ever heard!!
I have just made up my mind this is my favourite T/D track. It only took me 2 hours to make up my mind, hang on I have just changed my mind & now it is Ricochet, no it is Coldwater canyon off the Live Encore double vinyl album. Who cares they are ball magic. Well I think they are!!!.
I remember going to the stratofear tour, and hearing it for the first time at the Albert Hall Nottingham.... still sounds as good after all these years....
@NieelzzZ Glad to raise your hit counter. TD Stratosphere was the first album that I got of theirs. Many memories to reflect upon while listening to this particular tune. THANKS for posting it.
@soundbeans I can't make you enjoy good music as much as I do. All I can do is say that I was not exaggerating in my comment, and I sincerely feel bad for you if you don't get as much out of this song as I do.
Also, yes, I like MLP:FiM. Frankly the Stephen Sondheim-esque music in it is better than a lot of the schlock that winds up on the top 20's radio stations. I see that you criticize people for liking MLP, so your knowledge of the matter is very suspect.
PURE PRIMITIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC...WITH ALL ITS RAW ENERGY! Today's 'Electronica' has nothing on the ancient classics of the past! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece.
the Original very psychedelic remains for me the best. TD at their peak, sequencer by chris Franke, all guitar works (also very pretty acoustic) by "father" Edgar Froese and synth melodic lines also by peter Baumann the man who sadly had to go to soon. thanks
Parts of this beauty are the theme music of norwegian science radio program "Verdt å Vite" ("Worth Knowing"). Don't know if the program is still running, though...
8 yrs old in my dads jeep driving to a full moon nightdreaming for an hour on the highway... no words I type can describe the feeling of Energy I experienced.
Just know people that this music is being broadcasted out through the Galaxy at Light Speed! as we live out our blink of an eye lives... When we are long gone I am most certain if there are any Intelligent Beings who purposely or accidentally Tune into the music, T.D will be one of Humanity's true signs of Intelligence!

I can seriously just sit in one place and zone to this song. No drugs, nothing but the music and a mind that gets blown every time I hear this.
I'm pretty decent with writing, normally. I have no words that are capable of describing this song. I am not worthy to do so.

@Kaelzoroden Dude, I completely agree...This song does the same to me...It's truly a work of Art ♥

you can count me in the same wagon as you are, this music lets you travel inside your being. Speechless.
EDDGC 9 months ago
@Kaelzoroden ah come on it's not that great. I see that you favorited my little pony so your taste is very suspect.
soundbeans 5 months ago

Would it be weird to say that parts of this song remind me of Kingdom Hearts and a few other Square Enix titles?

8 yrs old in my dads jeep driving to a full moon nightdreaming for an hour on the highway... no words I type can describe the feeling of Energy I experienced.
Just know people that this music is being broadcasted out through the Galaxy at Light Speed! as we live out our blink of an eye lives... When we are long gone I am most certain if there are any Intelligent Beings who purposely or accidentally Tune into the music, T.D will be one of Humanity's true signs of Intelligence!
