Im pretty sure the car dock mode is baked into the OS itself.

The UK version should work on the Verizon LTE version of the Nexus. The micro usb ports are in the same location and the 3 metal contacts on the edge are in the same position.

The current car dock sold by verizon is nothing but a passive plastic shell.

The UK version of the car dock is awesome.

@johnpa2006 ur forgetting the fact the VZW NG is slightly thicker than the GSM NG. Last i checked it was not compatible with the VZW NG

@AnotherAndrew The difference is thickness is .53 millimeters -- 1/20th of a centimeter. If that difference was enough for the dock to not work, then the dock would not work if the GSM phone was not 100% perfectly set in the dock, even a tiny jostle would cause it to not work. I think that the assumption should be that this dock will work with the LTE version of the phone, until demonstrated otherwise.

I hope this suction cup doesn't fail like my Motorola Droid 1 car dock did! Nothing like driving in the summer and nearly having the whole unit fly out the window after it falls off the windshield at 50mph+

I had one too it stayed on the glass for almost 1 year before having to re-mount. also I hope you didnt lick the suction cup that actually messes it up.

@johnpa2006 Yeah the glass was always clean, as I'm a neat freak with my cars........... I never licked the suction cup, it simply lost it's suction ability. The arm mechanism lost it's stiffness and wouldn't create a good seal.

all of us in the US on verizon are PISSED they only had the crappy car dock, still same price. No 3 prong so it doesn't kick the phone into car mode. Also, can't seem to find the stock app that would kick the phone into car mode. So basially we're screwed until we get the 3 prong car adapter. Not nice verizon.

@cellardo0rr Won't konw for sure until it's released, but looking at 1:28 I can see a different textured shape for where the power button is going to be on the side of that mount case.

thanks, what does the charger say on how many amps deliver? 0.5, 1.0, 1.5? There have been reports on generic chargers delivering too little juice, so the battery is drained.

Does the galaxy nexus automatically switch on driving mode when a magnet is near the phone? This happened on an older phone of mine and drained the battery because my wallet has a magnet
